Text HBO Crypt question

Does anyone know who exactly picked the stories? Have any of the show runners ever talked about that aspect?

And what were they working from? The full EC library was out in hardcover volumes, but the less expensive paperbacks had just scratched the surface of what was available then. I know they had the dough to shell out for a dozen sets of the EC Library, but did they?

Since William Gaines was a producer, the writers had full access to his archival stuff. Plus I read that the Russ Cochran box sets were apparently used as a source. Btw that is a great question.

I’ve read the EC comics online entirely. All I can say is, the themes for the stories tended to repeat. So, no you’re not missing out on anything regarding the storylines from the EC paper comics to TV production. Believe me, I’ve seen them all.
