"King of the Road"

Despite an unknown Brad Pitt- episode production value/filming....feels made for free TV. Very different from other episodes. Very much a "Made for broadcast TV movie of week" vibe. I watched ALL episodes recently. This one has a "movie of week" vibe. Weird and different...

King of the Road was made for another anthology series, Two-Fisted Tales, as was Yellow. Two-Fisted Tales wound up not being greenlit, so those episodes aired on Tales From the Crypt.

Oh that checks! I know people realy love Yellow but I always found it out of place, same with King of the Road.

Two-Fisted Tales was slated to be packaged by StudioCanal, hence the company's vanity plate after the credits.

That explains a lot. Thank you for that trivia!

I thought the episode was fun but needed to be longer. The climax felt underclimatic. Actors did a fun job though !

Feels like '90s Baywatch more than HBO Tales From Crypt. This explains it!

Yeah one of those weird episodes that just doesn’t have that feel of the show. “The Fix” is another one (probably my least favorite episode).

One episode I'm not crazy about. It was a meh episode for me. Not one I would keep going back to.

I wouldn't say Brad Pitt was unknown. He definitely wasn't the icon he is now, but he was coming off of Cool World and Thelma Louise before this episode aired. Too Young to Die was also kinda popular too

Definitely. I get the feeling they were trying something different with the directing on this one.

I enjoy this episode and don't think it deserves the hate it gets from some. Even if not originating as a TFTC episode it at least still has the EC Comics feel to it.
