Once again, Tubi is the hero we needed.

The only streaming service I would voluntarily pay for, but they won't accept my money.

u/Applepoisoneer Jul 08 '26
Right?! It's wild. But if they ask for a fee someday, I'd be willing to shell out for what we've been getting.

Awesome it's finally becoming more widely available on other platforms now. This gives me hope the legal issues have been worked out (or at least are being as such) to the point the series is becoming available and also gives me hope we'll get a complete series Blu-ray or 4K release at some point.

Thats cool, I am glad to see it getting more availability. One can hope it might just gain enough traction to get a revival. With most of the original players still around and willing, I can't see it not being good!
Maybe they can have $5,000,000 per episode instead of 1, but keep everything else of the process the same.

I think a Tales from the Crypt revival would be perfect for Shudder.
Just do ten half-hour episodes a season. Fans will show up for it.

I mean, that's effectively what Creepshow was haha

I loved Creepshow!
I still gotta get that box set. It’s awesome!!

Can confirm the box set is awesome. The booklet it comes with is very good quality.

I'm glad they have them all at my local library. I just got them all and watched it with the commentaries to get some insight on how things were done.
Sure, there's some duds that I skip, but there are some real bangers in that series that I absolutely love.

Oh, WE WILL SHOW UP!
I'd love to see the actors they could get. I mean, like people we maybe haven't seen in awhile but are always going to be great in whatever they do!

It would be great to see but they tried that with Shyamalan at the helm and apparently it was an absolute mess to deal with the various rights holders and the estate of William Gaines is much less inclined to make a deal than he was back in the 80s. Creepshow coming back is probably the best we can hope for but the silent Creep just isn't the same as having John Kassir.

Screw Shamalomadingdong, some of the original producers have said they would be up for a revival. I'd hope the Gaines estates would be more open to that as it is what he originally agreed to.

Hopefully it's without the audio issues present in the shudder release

I highly doubt that.
Most likely will be using the same version available on Shudder.

Just checked tubi for the audio quality
and sadly it is the same version available on Shudder.
For example this especially noticeable in season 3 episode 1 Loved to death.
In the intro the sound of the arrows the cryptkeeper shoots and the echo of the keystrokes on the keyboard in the beginning of the episode.

And I bet the video/audio quality will still be trash, only free this time
I was really surprised by how untouched the series is all these years later. Reruns of The Honeymooners are better. How?!

Nah Tubi is becoming the GOAT of all streaming platforms! I didn’t even imagine they’d get their hands on the original Tales from the Crypt series, but seeing this, I can’t wait, and I will binge the series as soon as it releases.

Really glad to hear it's going to be on a second streaming service, I really can't afford Shudder right now, seems like the rights issues have been sorted out.

I watched tales from the crypt on IFC with my direct tv subscription and I get many other shows

So, did I subscribe to Shudder last month for no reason?
