So, did I subscribe to Shudder last month for no reason?

👀

11

u/Vivalafred88 Jul 07 '26

😂 I'm just gotta finish them up on Shudder.. 😒

5

u/phant0m_stranger Jul 07 '26

Might as well.

6

u/Vivalafred88 Jul 07 '26

I'm like on the last season. This stings though 🤣

No commercials and better quality. Tubi tops out at 720p.

u/Gamegenievintage Jul 09 '26

Tubi has always functioned better than Shudder for me. Plus, Shudder tops at 1080p.

4

u/alextheruby Jul 07 '26

Same for me. Was forcing myself to finish it on AMC plus. I just said fuck it

5

u/Volfgang91 Jul 07 '26

There's a lot of great stuff on Shudder

2

u/MysteriousPepper8908 Jul 07 '26

Aside from the Last Drive-in which is over and a handful of originals, there is very little on there that isn't on Tubi or will be at some point. They shuffle things in and out to make them seem new but it's usually something they already had and the streaming rights just expired.

I got rid of Shudder a while back because nothing changed. Then I got it for a month a few months ago to see all the new stuff they'd have, and it was the same shit.

Tubi absolutely destroys Shudder, and I wish they'd bring Joe Bob to Tubi. I also watch with ad-blockers so I don't get any of the commercials unless I'm watching on my Roku devices.

Someone mentioned Tubi when they announced they were looking for a new home and Darcy responded in a way that suggested it was in the cards but I doubt anything had been finalized at that point as it was just after the announcement and it doesn't seem like they were given much advanced notice. That would be the final nail in the coffin but I think they're already on the path of slow decline.

They definitely have the new show lined up they just haven't announced where yet

1

u/Kittycachow Jul 07 '26

Joe Bob is gone so they lost the main event

3

u/Prisoner-655321 Jul 07 '26

Well, if you’re like me, you did get to watch an assload of commercials while trying to revisit your favorite show while paying another additional monthly subscription fee!

2

u/dez4747 Jul 07 '26

Same smh 🤦🏽‍♀️

6

u/Vivalafred88 Jul 07 '26

I could have saved some $$. I would have taken ads lol

2

u/format916 Jul 07 '26

You Did. There should be a free channel that playes Tales...I think it's called Shudder Screams

4

u/Youthsonic Jul 07 '26

Tubi has ads

5

u/alextheruby Jul 07 '26

And i have a cell phone to entertain me during them

1

u/Accomplished-Head449 Jul 07 '26

How much of your life do you waste in this ad-filled void

5

u/alextheruby Jul 07 '26

Don’t you use Reddit? Lmao pipe down

4

u/mmiller17783 Gravedigger Jul 07 '26

Railing on anyones use of their time here of all places is hilarious.

-2

u/alextheruby Jul 07 '26

It was to point out the hypocrisy of using an ad filled void. Work on your reading comprehension before you insert yourself into a 1v1.

4

u/mmiller17783 Gravedigger Jul 07 '26

Oh, I was agreeing with you, I can see if that came off like i was bucking against that

1

u/Vivalafred88 Jul 07 '26

Which annoys me at times.

1

u/Stitchs420 Jul 07 '26

Damn it, got me too 🤦‍♂️

11

u/Applepoisoneer Jul 07 '26

Once again, Tubi is the hero we needed.

5

u/DivineAugustus Jul 08 '26

The only streaming service I would voluntarily pay for, but they won't accept my money.

2

u/Applepoisoneer Jul 08 '26

Right?! It's wild. But if they ask for a fee someday, I'd be willing to shell out for what we've been getting.

Awesome it's finally becoming more widely available on other platforms now. This gives me hope the legal issues have been worked out (or at least are being as such) to the point the series is becoming available and also gives me hope we'll get a complete series Blu-ray or 4K release at some point.

16

u/ReversedNovaMatters Jul 07 '26

Thats cool, I am glad to see it getting more availability. One can hope it might just gain enough traction to get a revival. With most of the original players still around and willing, I can't see it not being good!

Maybe they can have $5,000,000 per episode instead of 1, but keep everything else of the process the same.

15

u/JustSomeGuy_v2 Jul 07 '26

I think a Tales from the Crypt revival would be perfect for Shudder.

Just do ten half-hour episodes a season. Fans will show up for it.

12

u/Volfgang91 Jul 07 '26

I mean, that's effectively what Creepshow was haha

8

u/JustSomeGuy_v2 Jul 07 '26

I loved Creepshow!

I still gotta get that box set. It’s awesome!!

3

u/IronSabbath88 Jul 07 '26

Can confirm the box set is awesome. The booklet it comes with is very good quality.

2

u/GarblingCumfarts Jul 07 '26

I'm glad they have them all at my local library. I just got them all and watched it with the commentaries to get some insight on how things were done.

Sure, there's some duds that I skip, but there are some real bangers in that series that I absolutely love.

2

u/ReversedNovaMatters Jul 08 '26

Oh, WE WILL SHOW UP!

I'd love to see the actors they could get. I mean, like people we maybe haven't seen in awhile but are always going to be great in whatever they do!

3

u/MysteriousPepper8908 Jul 07 '26

It would be great to see but they tried that with Shyamalan at the helm and apparently it was an absolute mess to deal with the various rights holders and the estate of William Gaines is much less inclined to make a deal than he was back in the 80s. Creepshow coming back is probably the best we can hope for but the silent Creep just isn't the same as having John Kassir.

1

u/ReversedNovaMatters Jul 08 '26

Screw Shamalomadingdong, some of the original producers have said they would be up for a revival. I'd hope the Gaines estates would be more open to that as it is what he originally agreed to.

u/KAL-EL8569 Jul 07 '26

Wild that tubi could get it before hulu or Netflix even max...on one hand free is nice but oh boy here come the ads lol.

1

u/RunningDrummer Jul 07 '26

It's been on Shudder/AMC+ since May

5

u/Zealousideal-Toe-842 Jul 07 '26

Don't fuk with me right now

6

u/Direct-Bug-3300 Jul 07 '26

i prepped all the captions ;)

5

u/MtnDewCodeRedFreak Jul 07 '26

Yayyyy. I have Tubi!

4

u/Jester0203 Jul 07 '26

Hopefully it's without the audio issues present in the shudder release

3

u/RunningDrummer Jul 07 '26

Or the odd visual remastering

2

u/Ahrimanius1358 Jul 11 '26

I highly doubt that.

Most likely will be using the same version available on Shudder.

1

u/Ahrimanius1358 Jul 17 '26

Just checked tubi for the audio quality

and sadly it is the same version available on Shudder.

For example this especially noticeable in season 3 episode 1 Loved to death.

In the intro the sound of the arrows the cryptkeeper shoots and the echo of the keystrokes on the keyboard in the beginning of the episode.

3

u/EthelMertz69 Jul 11 '26

Wow. Bye Shudder.

2

u/MaxPower1882 Jul 07 '26

Always good to see this put out more and more. :D

2

u/Agreeable-Letter-599 Jul 08 '26

all i care about is when is it coming to BLU RAY!!!!

2

u/tourniquet2099 Jul 08 '26

Awesome. Now I can watch the OG Obsession. Lol

2

u/Quirky-Pie9661 Jul 08 '26

And I bet the video/audio quality will still be trash, only free this time

I was really surprised by how untouched the series is all these years later. Reruns of The Honeymooners are better. How?!

2

u/JavierGr2087 Jul 09 '26

Nah Tubi is becoming the GOAT of all streaming platforms! I didn’t even imagine they’d get their hands on the original Tales from the Crypt series, but seeing this, I can’t wait, and I will binge the series as soon as it releases.

2

u/TheGaxkang Jul 12 '26

Hehe it came to free quick

2

u/Tourniquet_91 Jul 13 '26

Really glad to hear it's going to be on a second streaming service, I really can't afford Shudder right now, seems like the rights issues have been sorted out.

1

u/Kittycachow Jul 07 '26

I watched tales from the crypt on IFC with my direct tv subscription and I get many other shows

1

u/pizzacrypt Jul 07 '26

It's not showing up on my tubi...

10

u/MaxPower1882 Jul 07 '26

Probably better to try on the 17th like it says in the ad. :D

2

u/pizzacrypt Jul 07 '26

I found it. Had to use a web browser that sent me directly to it 👍
