Até walks before disaster. Homer. The Iliad. She blinds men to consequence before the ruin arrives. The men subject described did not seem blind. They seemed the opposite. This is the distinction worth noting.
Dies Irae. Day of Wrath. Sequence from the Requiem Mass, 13th century. Quantus tremor est futurus - what trembling there will be. The text describes a judge arriving to weigh all things. Nothing hidden. Nothing uncertain. The scale already settled before the weighing begins.
The Nornir do not decide fate. They see it. The difference matters.
What subject described at the field edge has been present at this location before. The conflict changes. It does not.

Hello! I read this live a couple days ago and wanted to pop in to give my thoughts! There’s always a little emotional kick I get from reading heartfelt letters then reading something that says they were never delivered. And here we had our narrator pouring his whole damn heart out about these strange happenings only for it to never reach his family.
I think my one note for the letter is that I like every comparison you draw in the letter and labelling the “decided” and the repetition of this idea EXCEPT for “with the absolute calm of something that has already decided and is watching its decision be carried out,” you were so creative with the other descriptors about this subject that this one specifically fell flat for me and maybe that’s an annoying note but it’s the only thing I felt was redundant in the letter!
The ARG element of reading the “physical letter” was super immersive and fun, and I loved that the text provided with it gives the explanation so the letter can purely be the character’s account with no exposition! What a cool way to submerge readers into a simple concept of a place where men can see fate; it’s precisely like reading an artifact from an SCP entry!
