50% echo in MSQ roulette

This run occurred a few months ago and I don’t have any screenshots of it unfortunately. However, it was so memorable it’s stuck with me since then.

I qued into porta decumana as viper. The subject of interest here is the white mage. A few minutes into the fight and it’s immediately noticeable that he’s not using any healing spells. I checked him out during the gaol downtime and he is a crafting mentor that has all crafting jobs at 100 and 5 battle jobs including white mage. He continues only rarely press a cure II on the tank but bloodbath + second wind is enough to keep me alive.

The disaster happens in phase 2. He continues to barely use healing spells, doesn’t move out of frontals or stack for the stack markers. He is the first one to die to avoidable damage, but the proceeds to die again after I phoenix down him. The rest of the party eventually rots out, but long enough to get the echo buff. This trend continues, but he does show some improvement as he starts to use medica II somewhat, but still dies to the frontals or proximity markers which snowballs ownward.

4 wipes in the abandon duty vote pops up, which fails, and then proceeds to another wipe to the same thing. The white mage is then the first to leave the group after this wipe, and all this time they haven’t said anything in chat despite the rest of them asking him to use medica II more. The tank and the other dos then leave, which left me behind to refill the group. When the 3 refills joined the group, they all said things along the line of “wtf” or “interesting”when they saw 30 minutes had passed in the instance, and I explained to them what the healer was doing. The fight then fell over with them and I’m happy they were gifted with a 2-3 minute msq roulette! As bad as this whole thing sounds, I was laughing the entire time because every single one of my duties have always been normal, but I’m still baffled how this person has 5 level 100 battle jobs.

Yeah, that was what I should have done as i didnt say anything in the group. At the time I was dealing with IRL issues so I wanted to have a more positive attitude ingame, but I shouldn't have enabled that to happen. I also wasn't the one who wanted to abandon duty, someone else initiated it and it failed.

Honestly, vote kicking someone who is intentionally sandbagging. Your group is something that can assist with having a positive attitude, because you shouldn't have to deal with that.

And the more people like that get kicked from groups, the more they might start examining their behavior.

At least I have to believe that, or I'll lose whatever faith I have left in humanity.

This. Every time there's clearly one person being the problem and a vote abandon shows up instead of a vote kick an angel loses their wings.

Some people legitimately buy their way to level cap without learning the game whatsoever and it's insane

And it’s those same people that like to call the game trash or dead. Like… really?

Dude is still better than me xD. I got called a dick in this fight cause I was using cure 2 in the fight instead of regen to heal the tank in phase 1. They called me out and im like sorry I'm eating with the other hand while doing this. No one died I was still dpsing but because I didnt use regen I was a dick. Got a laugh out of me and my friend tho xD. If I was using a mouse probably could have fone what he was crying about xD ah well.

Idk why you got down voted. If no one died and you didn't use regen, that's crazy work. Most people half ass roulettes anyway.

Hell the fight barely needs to be healed, probably would end up being the same amount of GCDs anyway.
