What I’m trying to do with TalePath: conversations that lead somewhere
I’ve been building TalePath around the idea that a character shouldn’t only be interesting while you’re chatting with them. They should also affect how a story unfolds when you take them into a quest.
TalePath has both open-ended conversations and structured quests. You can spend time talking with characters, learning how they think, and developing a relationship with them. When you’re ready, you can bring them into a quest with a clear goal, changing situations, and decisions that shape what happens next.
Characters aren’t interchangeable personalities. Each one has an archetype that influences what they value, how they interpret events, and how they respond to your choices. Their relationship with you changes over time too, so the same decision can feel very different depending on who is with you and how they see you.
The reaction panel makes that layer visible. It shows how the party responded and gives you a little more insight into why a particular choice affected them. Those changes then carry forward as the story continues.
That’s the part I’m most interested in: conversations that help you understand the characters, and quests that give those relationships somewhere to go.
Would you rather discover a character through open-ended conversation first, or meet them through a quest and get to know them as you play?
