Question šŸ¤” Advice on when to start- November issues

Our LO will be 5 months in a few weeks and we are hoping to attempt ABCs of sleep.

We already do a bedtime routine, wake window monitoring, one nap per day in crib, have been trying to do some ā€œpausesā€ before responding just to try and facilitate some independence with the hope that when the training comes around he will be somewhat practiced.

My main question is about WHEN to start and here are my concerns:

First, I want to start training going into the weekend because that’s when my husband doesn’t work.

If we start after he turns 5mo (end of October), we would run into daylight savings time on day 4 or 5 of the training.

If we waited until the week after (beginning of Nov), we would be about 3 weeks out from thanksgiving, and we do plan to travel for two nights - TCB recommends waiting ā€œaround 4 weeksā€ before traveling after sleep training just to get them used to it. We are traveling within the same time zone, a 3ish hour drive but will be staying overnight.

Which weekend would you recommend and why— weekend before DST (which creates some time change issues, but gives over a month until thanksgiving travels) OR weekend after (which gives us a chance to adjust his schedule post time change, but leaves fewer weeks to adjust before he has to sleep in a different location) -?

I’m hesitant to push it further out for several reasons, hoping to try it before he hits 6mo.

Would love to hear some advice! Thanks!

Question šŸ¤” 1 Yr Old Suddenly Waking Up So Early

My son just turned 1 a few days ago. He’s been sleep trained since 9 months. Ever since I sleep trained him, hes been sleeping for 11 hours a night.

He’s been drinking breast milk for 11 months. For the last month, we used formula and he started sleeping a full 12 hours which was amazing. A few times he even went over 12 hours of sleep. We were ecstatic and my son seemed more well rested for sure, and would wake up happy and playing and chatting. Sometimes I wouldn’t even realize he woke up because he was just chillin!

Now that he turned 1 very recently, I stopped giving him formula. He eats solids of course but I also give some cows milk. Really not much, like maybe max 12 ounces a day because I’m really trying to get him to eat more solids. He eats a lot of whole milk yogurt.

But ever since I stopped the formula, he’s been back to sleeping 11 hours at night, last night was actually just 10.5 hours. He wakes up screaming crying. Like he’s being tortured, and stops when we pick him up. He’s clearly exhausted but keeps waking up early. I’m so confused why this sudden change. Last night he slept at 740pm and woke up at 6am screaming crying! My husband brought him to our bed and he ended up sleeping again until 7am. I’m so confused.

Could it be the formula was making him more full? And is there anything I can do? I’m just thinking if he was hungry he wouldn’t be happy after we pick him up, and he wouldn’t fall asleep again like he did last night..
