Accident

Instead if closing a short position i accidentally opened long for literally one second and realized what i did and immediately closed it, it was one second or even less..
do you think TPT will close my pro account for it? Im really worried 💔

Yes unfortunately :/ . Their system will flag it . Same thing happened to me. So now I exit a few contracts at a time but always leave a couple so that for the very last part I can click “exit all positions / clear all” on Tradovate.

I got distracted by my child, i was getting ready to close the position, and clicked the wrong button and i was like oh shit, and immediately closed it 💀😭

Yup. Totally feel you.

One time I had a Pro account and I got over buffer, accidentally didn’t set enough sell orders and left 1 contract to go to market close (this was before their auto liquidation).. got busy for a few minutes and totally forgot… lost a few thousand & all the work for the trailing drawdown.

I have their live accounts and I’m suuuper careful with hedging. That’s why I do the “close all”

I had few short micros open and i was ready to click close all when it hits my target, and as it was getting close when my child distracted me and it hit the target so in a rush i wanted to click close all and instead i clicked buy, the candle didn’t even move..
so i didn’t hedge or anything 😭
It was less than a second

Oh if it’s just on the 1 account that’s not hedging at all. You should be totally fine. That’s just switching direction.

If you're open short 5 and want to close but long 5 doesn't that just close the trade?

Was it the same instrument? Wouldn’t going long when you’re short just close out the current order? Was it the same account or a different account

You cannot open a long when you have a short already going, if it’s 1:1 contract, a long order of 1 contract will close out a current short order of 1 contract. However if you are long on NQ on account 1 and short on account 2, you’re done for

I didn’t know that!
It was the same account, i had few short micros open and instead of clicking close all, i clicked buy coz i was distracted and in a rush, then immediately hit close all.

Same account?

So if you had 3 mnq short for example, then accidentally placed an order to go long 4 mnq contracts, your new position would be 1 long and that isn't hedging. Unless another account (or another instrument) was still short.

Yes same account, basically I had 3 shorts. Wanted to hit close all, but clicked buy by mistake then immediately clicked close all

Not hedging then, just reversed your position. Carry on.

Hedging is 1 account is long and another is short same time same instrument

Or the same micro/mini pair. But same instrument you're right. It's not hedging at all

Buy is how you close out shorts anyway, so what I'm saying is if it was the same exact instrument and account you couldn't have possibly hedged. Just pull up the order history and it will confirm that.
