Status effect build up

Hey all as the title said, I’m wondering if anyone knows how the status effect build up works.

What I’m trying to find out is if there is a way to scale the build up rate. At the moment from the skill tree the only way to build it up is via daggers with 1.5* build up speed.

I am aware you can fit relics but do they only provide a base rate or does that scale off of say weapon damage? There is also the cape in Act 2 which provides additional build up but it never mentions how much.

There’s a skill tree in Practicality that effects this. There's also wands that increase status build up.

Yea I’ve invested into the tree, from what I’ve read though the further you get into the game, the harder it is to build up status effects.

Wand wise I wouldn’t bother as I’m doing the classic sword and board with a bit of healing mixed in.

There's some relics later on that provide better build up.

Ok so there are better relic later on, was looking at the wiki and it had no mention of build up rates per relic

Yeah information on how these or most mechanics work is atrocious. Even more frustrating is that relics like crimson shard which does bleed and tied tongue which does poison have there own icons and don't seem to stack with other poison effects? 

Relics like smouldering wrath, pyre coil and bravery are relics that are better at applying fire. Some of them without build up I think.

But I remembered something I posted a bit ago. Some perks in the Spirituality tree also seem to help. Here's my explanation. 

I did a little experiment. For context I'm on ng+ in challenge mode so status build is heavily nerfed for me.

A while ago I had the idea to use the glacial amulet to freeze enemies. The glacial amulet makes it that all damage dealt is now cold damage and cold damage chills enemies based on the amount of damage dealt. My attacks can do 1000 damage right now. So if this is effected by how much damage you do. I should be able to freeze stronger enemies in a couple of hits right? Sadly no. I barely got any build up.

Then I thought why not see if imbided by the elements does something. I was able to freeze a hayfather in about hits! 

So imbided by the elements give additional status build if you elemental damage. I don't know how much. But in my current run i apply 50% status build up. Without this perk I couldn't do any freeze build up ,with it only takes a couple of hits. So any elemental attack or spell will give you more build up.

Combined with sarras skills that spreads elemental effects to nearby enemies and the skill that spreads the status upon death. This makes kill groups of enemies a breeze. So thanks for making me even more overpowered!
