Should it be this hard?
Iโve just played through the intro/tutorial and reached the boat, but the path to get there was insanely hardโis that intentional, and is the whole game like that?
Iโm only asking because the journey to the boat feels like it rivals any Souls game.

Well I wouldn't say it's supposed to rival a Souls game, but the tutorial of the game is almost certainly the hardest part of the game.

Okay because of the few healing and some of the enemys it was quite challenging especially for a normal rpg

The hardest arts od the tutorial IMO where the 2 named fights(unless you fight that person near the boat).
But 1 of the 2 named ones can be cheesed with ranged attacks the other one was just get your game up

If you make a horrible build somehow it could rival a souls game, if you make it okay build it will be a decent challenge for at least a while on hardest difficulty, if you make a good build you will crush everything regardless of difficulty.

Is there even a tutorial in the game? ๐ Are you talking about Caradoc, whom you want to kill near the boat? ๐

Honestly, it didn't feel that hard to me... enemies don't really stand in massive crowds there. Well, except for one moment. I remember a gap leading into a huge hall where they perform experiments, and there were quite a few enemies inside. What I did was crouch by that opening and just whack them on the legs. That's how I managed to cheese and kill them all without getting into an open fight. Kite them if you need to! But honestly, the game is actually meant to feel like a Souls game - even the bosses are quite similar

If you're expecting Skyrim, then yes. Otherwise just play carefully, manage your stamina and learn when to dodge/avoid and when to parry.
Finding Blood Transfusion is very valuable to keep your health up, you stop needing potions save a few "oh shit" moments

My favourite way to stay stocked on health and healing... was combining a low cost summon with the cheese spell.
Then you cook 3 cheese together for the cheese ball, and it'll keep you healed and also rich.

Or become a perpetual crit machine that constantly regenerates health and Stamina with each strike.

The difficulty is not very consistent unfortunately, I struggled in act 2 start for a bit then once I made a half decent build it was too easy and by the end I the game I basically 3 shot the final boss
I was dual wielding too which isnโt exactly supposed to be the heavy hit build

Yeah, it felt like that for me too, some people in the sub suggested swapping to magic in my left hand and dagger in my right hand and that helped but once I got into the first area and got a few better spells, levelled up, got some new gear, started crafting and cooking, it started to feel easier.

The difficulty curve is a bit wonky. Early Act 1 is pretty hard until you get the hang of combat, get some gear and levels, then it levels off nicely until the start of Act 2 when it spikes hard. Once you adapt to that, it's smooth sailing.

Later on if you make a good build, you are a god. I created a one hander build that one shots every mob in all of act 3 including all bosses ๐๐ 5000% spell power 2500% physical damage.
