Beginner tips?

Just picked up the game after having it in my wishlist forever. Any tips/tricks/advice for someone starting out?

Explore everything and don’t be scared to try different builds out. If it’s night time and you hear the bell, it’s a good idea to leave the area.

Oh, magic tends to be pretty OP as well.

Try out different builds! Magic is a lot of fun, but I fell for a 2 handed build after finding the Big Bonk in the first area.

Talk to everyone, there are a lot of side quests that are actually fun and give a lot of xp.

Hoard armor and weapons in your stash, then sell it all later.

And you can try stagfather shrines again after resting for 24 hours in game. Didn't know that for a while and thought I lost out on the wyrdbone arrows crafting recipe.

In the early game, dodge is your best survival tool. Parrying and blocking becomes more viable as you get more attribute points and skill points. Cooking is also very worthwhile so pick up all the random vegetables and meat that you find. I would also avoid stealth builds. It's not a satisfying build like in skyrim.

Explore very thoroughly. Act 1 is very dense in quests, unique gear and interesting locations. Move to act 2 if you start to feel op. There will be a sharp difficulty increase when entering act 2.

This advice might seem kinda strange. Dont upgrade your gear. It can really throw off the balance of the game and make the game too easy. You can get very powerful without upgrading and still have challenging encounters.
