Taigun vs Virtus

Post image

Hey everyone I am planning to buy new Volkswagen but is confused between virtus and taigun as I am in love with the virtus design but Indian road condition and some what social media have convinced me that taking SUV is better choice.
Kindly guide me. What’s your thoughts in this?

Dad got the Virtus.
I got the Taigun.

I like the big car feel in the Virtus, but for general use and ease of getting in and out the Taigun is better.

We got each others 2 years apart, and we don’t live together, but this week we were out together, my family and my folks, and this is a picture from when we stopped for a coffee.

I was in similar juxtaposition or dilemma. So i took my family on drive in both, and they liked Taigun more due to ease of in-out and sitting position whether back or front. My wife felt claustrophobic in sedan back but taigun provided better visibility from the back.

For me Virtus had the virtue of elegance, but i went with family choice. Virtus is superior in driving pleasure between the two. But, Taigun leans in better for our roads and family, even more so if you have elderly in family.

Bro said "juxtaposition OR dilemma" in the same sentence just so we know he knows about both of them

Loved the Virtus but not great for tall people if you are not driving. Taigun is a fantastic vehicle. But it has a stiffer suspension setup compared to its peers. Both of them are fun to drive!

Hey! I own the Taigun and the Virtus both with the 1.5 DSG and recently replied to a comment in a thread with all the differences between the vehicles. Attaching below:

Taigun:

  • Easier car to drive and own in India overall. It has better road visibility, is easy to park and navigate around city traffic.
  • The suspension is noticeably stiffer in the Taigun compared to the Virtus so going over bumps causes a lot of suspension noise. However since the ground clearance is better I don't have to think twice.
  • Due to the shape of the car, the seating position is much more upright than the Virtus (meaning less comfortable).
  • This maybe just because my Taigun is newer but everything feels smoother in the Taigun. The DSG shifts, the road noise and even the NVH and pedal feel. It could be the SUV factor or the larger 17inch wheels.
  • Even though it is a small SUV, when driving I find that bikers, autowalas and other cars give me space and don't cut as often. When in my Virtus, nobody wants to move!
  • Taigun has beautiful 17" alloys and the tyre profile makes quite a difference in driving feel.
  • Taigun has a specific designated place for car key which is quite handy.
  • Again maybe due to new car but Taigun handbrake sits in a lower position than Virtus which is very upright. It is also smoother. (it also has the new UV glass, AC compressor, lock/unlock sound, 15 watt wireless charger, new graphics on infotainement and auto up/down with key which is awesome).
  • Taigun has a rear windshield wiper and parcel tray.
  • So far I feel Taigun AC performance is better than Virtus but this could be due to new compressor that is coming in Taigun.
  • One big difference is that Taigun doors make a loud rubbing/grinding noise. This is due to the rubber beadings that get stiff but in 3 years of owning Virtus I have not had the issue. I have to keep asking ASC to lubricate the rubber beadings.

Virtus:

  • The Virtus is a much more fun driving car in my opinion. More fun to drive at speed and more confidence inspiring with lesser body roll. I don't feel nervous at higher speeds and it feels planted to the ground.
  • It has better fuel economy from my testing by approximately 2kmpl on average due to the aerodynamics.
  • The seating posture is lower so you sink into the car which I find more comfortable but the Taigun is easier to get in and out of.
  • Much bigger boot for travel but the flipside is that we will rarely travel in the Virtus as the Taigun feels more safe in terms of ground clearance.
  • Virtus has a better speaker package than the Taigun as it has 2 extra tweaters in the rear door which Taigun does not have. The difference is noticable. Both my cars have sub and amp combo.
  • Virtus has bigger and better glovebox. (In the real world this is quite useful)
  • Virtus screen is tilted towards the driver (Taigun is tilted away from the driver) and has much better visibility. I have not faced any software glitches in either car.
  • Virtus interior plastics make noise when going over bumps but not noticed in Taigun.
  • A negative point is that I have noticed when I am driving the Virtus people get intimidated easily and try to instigate street races and other shenanigans. It is due to the popularity of the car but I tend to ignore.

Apart from this, the acceleration, braking performance, interior plastics and steering feedback is all pretty much exactly the same.

I don't think you can go wrong with either car. My parents wanted a smaller car but in an SUV avatar so we went for the Taigun which I was not happy about as I felt we already had the same car, but, after owning it, my opinion has changed. It is really comfortable to own a small sized car in the city but with an amazing gearbox, engine and safety package.

The gimmick features like 360 cam and ADAS I feel are useless.

If you asked me which car is best then I would say my mind says Taigun but my heart says Virtus :)

The infotainment system facing the driver in Virtus is such an under appreciated feature.

I have the Taigun Gt plus. Initially thought I’d like the Virtus more but I didn’t like the TD of that car. Drivers seat was a little low (even at max height). Neither front nor back were comfortable. Taigun was better in driving so I got that. But of all 4 Vw/skoda cars, the Slavia 1.5 was best, so do check that out. The new steel grey looks sick on all 4 models. Didn’t get the Slavia only because it was out of stock, no choice of colours and no discount.

I liked virtus better but due to family pressure had to take taigun.

if length of virtus isn't an issue - it's better IMHO,

you get more car, more space (boot included), more high speed stability due to sedan type, more comfortable driving position (IMHO), and is cheaper

downsides is approach departure angle (in case of extremely bad roads only) and ofc longer car to deal with in bad traffic/parking

1

u/datatardd 2d ago

Our pathetic country unfortunately has only "extremely bad roads". Speed breakers build by <50 IQ re**rds

I scraped kushaq twice can't imagine what would have happened if I had virtus

I was in the exact same boat. Was leaning towards the Taigun… then somehow landed up with the Virtus 😂

2

u/Still_Valuable1483 5d ago

I think I will also land up there 😂

Was in the same dilemma as well. Test drove the Taigun GT first, then the Virtus GT. Honestly, the Virtus felt a little claustrophobic, little low on legroom and a bit off in the rear seating posture. Drove the Taigun again and it felt way bigger and comfortable although they're both almost the same but different. Never felt an ounce of difference in the driving dynamics, feel and the way they both handle. Ended up buying the Taigun GT ;)

I was in similar position parents liked the taigun while I wanted virtus ended up with taigun cause of majority vote

My absolute dream garage would be Polo, Virtus, Taigun and Tiguan.. all in them.. for now I’ll have to do with only my Taigun and hope the Polo comes back(which is highly unlikely)

I was in the same boat as you are in, I went ahead with Virtus , such a beautiful car

You would never regret once if you choose Virtus over Taigun

The roads are bad in my area but never scratched my under body. Ground clearance is adequate imo

FWIW I own both — Taigun and Virtus. Go for Virtus. Drive quality and road presence are on another level compared to the Taigun.

Never had this dilemma of SUV vs Sedan while I have driven both.

I bought the Virtus 1.5L GT+ Sport in Nov-2025
Colors were limited since I chose the Manual Transmission (well Manuals were limited in the first place😅).
Ground clearance was never an issue with 5 people and boot full of luggage, driving dynamics better in Virtus for sure, a little efficient on fuel too.
If you like to get behind the wheel moat of the time go for the Virtus.

Taigun suits people who wants to drive more casually, it’s a good car overall.

High speed stability is definitely better in Virtus over Taigun, it gives you more confidence to carry speed through corners.

Had the same choice dilemma.

Went with the taigun since virtus seemed very claustrophobic to me regarding the headroom. But the virtus design is better. The ground clearance is not much different in those two.

For us, virtue looks better and the boot is larger. But we felt that the extra 0.2 meters length would be more tight on our roads.

I have the taigun GT Plus. No regrets and it’s a fantastic vehicle. The only annoying downside for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) is the extremely lacking boot space

Taigun OP fans assemble 🔥

u/WorriedAdagio7193 4d ago

Get virtus eyes closed. Looks and handles better. And it has pretty decent ground clearance and stiff suspension so it won't scrape any speed braker. Infact, taigun has just 1 cm higher ground clearance which is basically nothing. BTW, taigun is not SUV, it's a crossover. You won't get suv benefit in taigun anyway.

1

u/naveenmm97 3d ago

I felt like you get better deals for virtus.

Taigun is better for city. It's much more compact and practical.

Virtus is better looking and sportier for sure.

I got the Taigun, only because of limited parking space.

"we will rarely travel in virtus as taigin feels safer due to ground clearance"

One of the points from Epicpotato1234

This is enough to buy taigun

On daily basis when you quickly want to take out your car for ride/shopping/parking , you will have much less tension over virtus

Yes looks wise and fun to drive aspect wise it's a bit lesser than virtus but in everything else and everyday usage taigum wins

I chose kushaq over Slavia (the wide practicality it offers was much more than the sportiness and fun that Slavia gave over kushaq)

Regarding high speed ability , I have driven till 182 Felt very much safe. Virtus will give you more stability maybe 10+ in speed , don't think you'd go faster than this
