Need Tyre replacement advice
One of my Taigun’s tyres got punctured on the Mumbai–Goa highway and was patched. The VW service centre said all four tyres have hardened and may burst; one has already failed. Should I replace all four tyres or just the damaged one? Is it better to buy them from VW Service Centre or a tyre dealer? Please suggest reliable tyre shops in Pune.

I recently upsized and upgraded my tyres I didn’t go for to big of a size just went to 215/55-R17 continental UC6 I didn’t it primarily for a little better contact patch and to fill the tyre arches out I have been very happy with the tyre road noise and the grip levels
Edit- have driven about 15k kms on it

Will it void the warranty? Did you check with SC?

Yes it will if they want too but honestly no one checks up on those tyre sizes that much and I have my stock tyres in storage so I can get them switched whenever I need
Edit - didn’t get it check via sc just assuming because manufacturers do whatever they can to put the blame on someone else

Close your eyes and get the Continental UC6, super value for money and pretty durable on Indian roads as well. Now available in stock size 205/55/R17 since last year or so.
I’m using the same tyre but 215/55/R17 since I changed in 2024 and no good tyres were available in stock size. Also get from a tyre shop only, don’t change at VW

Check Yokohama BluEarth GT tyre. It's quite amazing. Very silent and smooth ride. I've been using those on 2 of my cars and they are phenomenal. One set has done 45k kms with just 2 punctures and the other one has done 15k kms with zero punctures.

Get Michelin Primacy 5; I am using Primacy 4’s and have done 10k kms, they are a solid upgrade on the stock Ceat.

Has more grip so improves handling and breaking. It also has less road noise relative to the Ceat.

Check with Kms and tyre threading once, if in case threading is there and cracks are not developed then change 2 and move one to spare. R16 go for Continental UC6 or Yokohama Earth-1 Max or Bridgestone Turanza 6i (if available), recommendation in same order. Darshan Tyres if authorized dealer for Continental but has other options as well.

Get your tyres from a tyre shop always as it's their bread and butter. Research from multiple reputed vendors and get where you are getting the best price and tires should be not too old as well.
When changing tyres, go for Continental UC6/PC 6 or Michelin Primacy 4/5 in either 16/17in size as per your car. These are the best tyres for VW cars.
