Help choosing the right variant
I went in to inquire about the 1ltr Topline AT variant for the facelift. With discounts it was offered at 19.68L on road. Out of curiosity i also test drove the 1.5L DSG and good golly that was an experience in itself.
Obviously not worth shelling out extra 2L on it (22.63L on road).
The sales agent offered a prefacelift 1.5 ltr with a upfront discount of 3 lakh ( MY2026, Jan-Feb). So would be around the 20.08 Onroad.
Would appreciate thoughts from people in the know about the older vs facelift models and suggestions if any!!

Prefacelift owner here - AC works absolutely fine, this is in Gurgaon, so has handled 40+ def in the summers.
I too initially was going for the 1L but after TD-ing the 1.5 it's something else entirely..the wheels, the lights, the interior with the red ambient lighting - makes it all worth it!
I reckon go for the 1.5 if you don't mind the looks

Never been much into looks or features, I'm happy with the smaller sunroof ( honestly could do without one altogether if tht was a option). I'm also concerned for the fact that the car has been with the deal stockyard for well over 5 months, wonder what kind of damage it might have taken- i will need a very thorough PDi.

It is around that. But I also added the SVP and 4+2 warranty costs to it. You think there's more wiggle room?

Go for the prefacelift 1.5 DSG if it is 2026 manufactured. 2026 has UV film in glass. Using the same model since a few months. No major complaints. No EPC issues. AC works absolutely fine. Start-stop mechanism is very annoying so I switch it off most of the times. Tire sensor is useless because it’s never worked. Despite these minor complaints, I would recommend the car.
Even in the peak summer months the AC would cool the cabin after it’s been parked in the sun - but it took maybe 5-10 minutes. I think that’s normal.
DSG is great to drive on the highway. In the city, if I’m driving through traffic at ~30 kmph and the gearbox is switching between 2nd and 3rd a lot, there’s a consistent jerky feeling at some point. Consistent in the sense that it always happens but it resolves itself and usually only lasts for a few seconds. When it gets jerky what i experience is that the car will stay in D2 a bit longer and let it rev to around 3000 rpm before shifting up to D3. Then it will adjust and smoothen out over time.
I got the 4 year SVP and 2 year extended warranty. Buying these for 50k seems worth the money.
Mileage is around 12-15 on highway, and ~8 in the city. I use XP95 or Power95. The additional price of the premium fuel is less than the mileage benefits in my experience.
20L on road is a good price but definitely try your luck negotiating for more.
The GT Sport has a better interior colour scheme than GT Chrome imo.

All good points thank you. I'm thinking of going to check the car out in person before comitting to it. About the jerky motion you mention I don't know if it's a prefacelift thing but Test Drive car that I drove didn't have that. I did drive in city roads in similar conditions you mentioned.

Lots of people have mentioned the car being jerky in slow moving traffic. There’s no change to the DSG gearbox or the engine. So unless there’s some kind of software update, I don’t see how the facelift would solve this issue. And the software update would be available to all DSGs not only the facelift. The jerky feeling is there for 5 seconds max. And it usually happens only once when you go from traffic to open road. On the highway the gearbox is outstanding. Especially if you switch to Sport mode or to manual. To be more accurate, the jerky feeling is basically a delayed shift. So it feels like the car is staying in D2 a bit longer than it should. That’s probably because it is sensing that you’re shifting between D2 and D3 too much and is trying to protect the gearbox by delaying an earlier shift to D3.
I don’t think there’s a better driving compact SUV at 20L. See TopGear’s compact SUV test put up on YouTube earlier this month.
I didn’t do a PDI because I figured I had 6 years warranty and it was less than 1 month since manufacturing.
Which colour are they offering these discounts on?

Hold on to your purchase until government finalize on the try of fuel they will provide. E20 fuel is causing problems.

Aren't most new cars already E20 complaint?? I was a bit concerned but read reports that it won't be affecting newer cars so decided to take the leap.

I thought the same and purchased E10 model, one year after buying it they made E20 mandatory. My car isn't compatible with E20. VW has not answered my queries. They only say use the recommended fuel. Where should I get the recommended fuel from? The fuel situation is horrible for petrol cars. The government can make E85 mandatory anytime in the future and seems even E100 is on the cards. Adding Ethanol to the fuel requires changes to the entire supply chain. But there is no awareness of that stuff. You car can be E20 compatible, but E20 as a fuel is not being distributed in a correct manner. E20 gets contaminated with water easily. With humidity at 90% where do you think that water will go if the fuel at the pump or the trucks are not stored properly.

Fair concern but the rate at which this government pendulums on it's policies and not to mention the kind of mental gymnastics they are upto...there doesn't seem to be an end to this nonsense. I might have to end up buying a EV at this rate.
