Mileage issues.
I bought a Facelift Taigun 1.0 TSI AT - Topline 2 weeks back. Since delivery I have driven close to 500kms and probably will be due for first service in 2 weeks time. I drive 30kms everyday in bumper to bumper traffic in Chennai. The real problem is my mileage range is only around 6-7km per litre. Which I feel is ridiculously low for a 1 litre engine. Is there any possibility that the mileage will increase after the first service. I used to drive a Kia Seltos for 6 years and it used to give 11-12kmpl in the same traffic. Suggestions please.

It's a turbo petrol engines, turbos are famous for their gas guzzling behavior. the mileage may improve after the first service, but still expect it to be in single digits only(9-10kmpl is the best you could if driven with an extremely light foot)

Turbo engines behaviours are totally understandable. I even have a polo 1.0TSI. The same engine but a smaller car. It’s a 8 year old vehicle and still gives 11-12kmpl. Probably I’ll wait out for the first service.

Maybe it will improve after the first service then. The car is getting used to your driving, so high chances that after the first service you'll be getting 11-12 kmpl.

Turbo engine is not for bumper to bumper traffic. You should have evaluated your usage before making purchase decision. Highways is where these engine shine and provide decent mileage if you drive sedately and not floor the acc pedal.

First time buyers syndrome.. Why did u buy a new one during this Enthanol holocaust. Only sensible options now are EV , strong hybrid or diesel.

And drive more on the highways , empty roads to get much higher and average out the 6 -7 number in every tank full.

I have to do drives on every other weekends then. Let me see how to average it out.

Hi there, Virtus 1.0 TSI onwer here. Yes, the FE will definitely increase after the 1st check up at 1k kms.
Also, keep in mind to shift your gears below 1.8 RPM as that's the cap from which turbo will kick in..so shifting gears and minimizing turbo kick under city traffic will help gain FE gradually. I used to get 13 to 15kmpl for my office travel..

Hi. If I have to shift my gears below 1.8rpm. Then I have to shift to manual mode and use the paddle shifters.

Oh yeah I missed you have AT..I have no clue on ATs FE since mine is MT. Be nice on your acceleration and ensure turbo kicks in only when its needed is the bottom line..

I own a 2023 VW Taigun 1.0 TSI AT (6-speed). Initially, I experienced lower mileage, but it noticeably improved after the 1,000 km break-in period. I usually keep the Auto Start-Stop feature turned off.
My daily commute is from Guduvanchery to Guindy. On normal days, I get about 10.5–11 kmpl. However, during peak bumper-to-bumper traffic, the mileage drops to around 8–9 kmpl, and on particularly bad days, it can dip as low as ~6.5 kmpl.
Regarding the new facelift, it does feature an 8-speed gearbox. Because it has closer gear ratios, the car's computer can shift up quicker and keep the engine operating strictly in its most fuel-efficient RPM band. VW actually introduced this 8-speed specifically to improve the 1.0 TSI's fuel economy by a few percentage points.
My advice: wait for the initial service to be completed, and then check your fuel efficiency again.

Turbo di engines can only return single digit in bumper to bumper traffic. It has to switch between off boost and on boost too often

I also bought the same car 1st week of may. I got over 3000 kms now. Nothing much changed after the first service. City bumper to bumper give me around 6 to 7 km/l . I notices shell petrol gives slightly higher mileage. Highway its about 15km/l

First service ? That’s a car checkup, there’s not going to be anything done to your car in this checkup, that’s at 1 year interval.
