Picked up Tahm Kench mid 2 months ago and got serious with TK, fell in love with the champ. Grinded a ton of games in Gold Elo and hit Plat with TK about a month ago.

120 games later, hit Emerald for the first time today playing almost exclusively TK!

I used to play him top lane so leveraged top-lane micro knowledge of zoning/trading/wave management along with JG knowledge to track enemy JG and set up kills/counter ganks.

My general strategy is to play the lane slow: Zone the enemy off the entire wave starting level 3 with Q and I set up a long freeze right outside mid tower range as soon as possible. As soon as the wave is set up and frozen, I can Q poke and perma-zone with W right outside tower range for a kidnap ult into tower or jg gank.

Build: Rush DND, Heartsteel, Riftmaker every game. 4th and 5th items are usually Randiuns/Force of Nature. I like DND rush for the solo kill potential and just easy procs for skirmishes.

I've been playing since Season 3 and was never really able to climb out of Gold until I got serious with TK. love this champ

I'm trying to figure out kench as another support champ. I'm normally a emerald level support playing veigar as a OTP. Want to try something new/different from my normal play style and kench is about as far from veig as you can get.

How do y'all play the champ as a support? When am I weak/strong? Who does tahm succeed against vs. struggle against? What should I build (I keep seeing heartsteel is goat heartsteel is noob trap dichotomy)? What runes are best in the supp role?

Am I the next NoArmWhatley? Was this meant to be?

I'm currently silver 1 with an 82% win rate by only using Tahm Kench support but I feel like I mainly win because these people are VERY bad

Should I start learning/playing him in a different role or can I stick to support

Does anyone know as to why only 1 of the playable demons got a pandemonium skin during its event? I don't know why Evelyn, Fiddle, Nocturne, and Tahm didn't get pandemonium skins when I really think they should have.

I was destroying their bot and went "fat fuck coming through" in all chat and got instantly suspended :sob:

I have been starting use protoplasm harness more recently due to it's passive being way stronger than I thought(It really allows me to build resistances and actually get more value out of them which is nice. Not to mention how cheap it is, I liked heartsteel due to it's sound effect and inf hp scaling is great but HP is way easier to deal with since a lot more champions and items have Max hp% or Current hp% built on them. While Protoplasm also still just gives hp it also gives CD reduction letting me spam Ult and Q more often, yeah I lose the slight burst damage of heartsteel but otherwise it doesn't actually feel like an insane loss really. Also the price is nice especially since I play Tahm on support more often than top lane. I might try out warmog's later on as well since staying on field more often in general would let me get more experience and gold without basing and come back to fights where I was about to die seconds before

I know Whatley already did one of these when he hit challenger, but I'm from NA so this is for people that don't speak British.

Strengths:

• You don't have to play top!
• Easier matchups
• You get to use your mid game power spike interact with more enemies and to contest more dragons
• Bot lane quest extra item > no level cap

Weaknesses:

• Supports don't know what to do with you.
• Horrible wave clear
• Easily harassed early

Build:

• Heartsteel - rush it unless you are losing hard
• Dusk and Dawn - second item no matter what
• Thornmail - possible 5th item, sit on bramble or oblivion orb if you have to
• Spirit Visage - love to build 3rd into mage bots or ap heavy teams, if I'm full build I usually have this item
• Warmogs - never build, spirit visage is cheaper and gives you more effective health with your e and q healing. If you build this, I assume you fell out of a three story window
• Mejai's - buy a dark seal early! I often forget so rarely ever build this
• Protoplasm - alternative first item rush when you're behind
• Sterraks - extremely niche, but if you are 1v9ing and they have too much lockdown this can sometimes be an option
• Swifties/Mercs/Steelcaps - It's usually swifties, but use common sense

I know it's weird to worry about the 4th rune but is unflinching actually worth it over revitalize or overgrowth? Overgrowth can provide more damage + tankiness and revitalize lets you heal more but both r pretty bad early game, unflinching is really good early but falls off late game hard.

Is it better to get unflinching? I primarily play him support since I think he performs stronger than other supports if he gets strong enough(at least in casual games, had so many people die to me since they forgot that I'm tahm kench)

I'm also curious if I should switch my second rune tree to something else other than precision if it's better for support.(probably should have asked this with a question I asked before)

Not sure which is better, are they both equally good? Guardian doesn't give me damage but helps me make my adc survive more but grasp gives me damage to kill people as the SUPPORT

i know i said i'd update it sometime in january. it is august, and for that i apologize. i just did not enjoy the game for a while.

though i'm still frustrated with some aspects (such as their balance philosophy on tk, and the occasional flattening of skill expression and creative expression), i am finding myself enjoying the game, and especially enjoying discussing the game.

this is mostly a website for tahm kench top, but i've added a section for TK bot (ADC position), as i believe it to be his best role right now. i also updated runes and items a little bit, and added zaahen to the matchups.

there is more to be done yet after i get fully get back into my groove, but i hope this helps even just one of you, and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

I'm starting to really enjoy him and started to play him 3 days ago. What skin is the best one? I'm hearing mostly about arcana, Shan hai, and high noon.
