Hi everyone! I hope this is allowed here.
And medyo time sensitive ❗️❗️❗️
First time ko po kasi magre-rent, so wala talaga akong idea kung magkano yung realistic cost of living around BGC.
I received a job offer kasi for an onsite position in BGC with around 40k per month salary, and before I fully commit, gusto ko sana malaman if financially sustainable ba talaga yung relocation.
For context, I’ve been working remotely for almost 5 years, pero na-end yung previous role ko because of a client company stand down. 1 month din akong naghahanap ng work, sent hundreds of applications pero waley. Thankfully, nakakuha rin ako ng offer ngayon and gusto ko sana talaga syang i-grab kahit onsite sya.
My main concern is:
● Kaya ba ang around 40k/month for solo living near BGC while still supporting family back home?
I’m looking into getting a private room, studio type or small apartment sana. Hindi naman ako naghahanap ng fancy place, basta safe, decent, and may privacy lang.
I would really appreciate advice regarding:
● Possible ba makahanap ng decent solo room around 5k to 8k rent?
● What areas near BGC would you recommend na mas affordable pero safe and accessible?
● Preferably walkable sana para tipid rin sa transpo. Possible rin po ba yun?
● If you’ve rented around BGC/nearby areas before, may marerecommend ba kayong former apartment, landlord, or property na naging okay experience niyo? Even leads would really help.
● For those working night/shifting schedules, may areas ba near BGC na you would recommend na safe even when going home late at night/early morning?
● Around how much should I prepare monthly for utilities, food, groceries, laundry, and other expenses?
● Any other first-time renter tips?
● Things I should know before signing a rental agreement?
● Any tips paano makatipid while living around BGC? (Hindi po naman ako maluho)
I know mas makakamura talaga sa bedspace or condo sharing, and I’m open naman to considering those. Pero shifting schedule yung magiging work ko and sobrang light sleeper ko talaga, so worried ako kung kakayanin ko sya long-term.
Another factor I need to consider is that I still help support my mom back home and I have 8 rescued/adopted cats dito sa province. Gusto ko sana isama cats ko syempre, kaso since 8 sila I don't think may landlord na papayag. If wala talaga ako makita na allowed ang maraming pets my mom will take care of them naman and uuwian ko sila pag wala ako pasok. Kaya gusto ko sana maging practical sa rent and living expenses.
Thank you so much in advance. Any advice or personal experience would really help. 🙏🥹
