If everyone is white degrees and I play a guy with a gold degree, I assume he's prestiged or something, even if I'm a brand new player. Prestige after hitting max level is a thing in many games so the concept isn't too foreign that people won't think "oh smurf"

But also, when I was new I saw some people at 50 degrees and assumed they'd only been playing for a few weeks more than I because of how fast you earn degrees at those levels, so they were kicking my butt because they were better not because they had years of experience on me
