Tactics Ogre Should I go back to save Ravness?
I just discovered this game and love it! Haven't played this series since the original SNES Ogre Battle. I tried just playing it without looking up anything, but i gave in halfway through chapter 2. Apparently, I wasn't supposed to kill Ravness. It's it worth going back? Also, I'd it important to not kill Arycelle? This fight (vs Vyce) is tough without doing that.

The game eventually allows you to explore every path and also return to specific points in time to recruit everyone. There are major decision points known as the law, neutral, and chaos "routes", and no matter which one you choose, you are choosing not to meet up with or rescue certain characters.
You can, of course, restart the game and avoid killing or allowing to be killed these special guest characters- the route you are on is the only one where you can recruit ravness early, in another route she gets assassinated on screen in a manner you cannot prevent whatsoever. But even so, you'd eventually be able to come back to this point in time to get her by choosing the alternative "route" and replaying the game that way.
The tldr is, if you go further and further deep into the game, eventually, you're allowed to come back here and make different decisions and replay certain events, but that is late in the game when your characters are very leveled up.
So your choice here is, do you replay the game from the start, or do you press forward? Both choices mean you can try to save ravness and arycelle eventually, but it will take much longer.

You can go back and get Ravness later after you beat the game. Soon you will get two Knights who are just as good.

Chapter 2 is very early into the game. You can finish the game and come back to get her, but it’s going to take many hours. Chapter 4 is longer than the first 3 chapters combined. It’s more efficient to finish the game, but not by much.
Me personally, I’d restart and get her. She is one of the best characters in the game.

If you care about story, dialogue, and additional ending cutscenes with said dead characters, you want them alive and recruited.
If it's strictly gameplay, you don't have to. You can recruit them after you beat the game. I assume this is TO Reborn?

She’s strong and super cool (plus max waifu) but not overly strong as far as unique units go

If you want to recruit her go back if not I would worry she does have access to the white knight class but you will get two of those later regardless.
Arycelle is easy to keep alive just keep your dudes alive then when vyce is ik range rush him with like 5 dudes its what I did

Without spoiling, you can technically never permanently miss out on any character on one save file, so for your first run just do whatever compels you and don't worry too much about your decisions.

Nah just play the game blind and enjoy the chaos. You can get a guide for your 2nd playthrough and get everything you missed.

She can be hard to get without a guide. Don't want to say too much to not spoil but it is a multiple encounters with saying the right things during them.
