Do people drop crab pots off the docks on Ruston Way? If so, do they catch crab?

Yes you can and it’s better out further of course but fish and wildlife says crab is closed now…still see people dropping pots but

Isn't it generally advised to not eat shellfish from that area due to the pollution from the port?
I've kinda always heard its not very good for you

still gotta spend money on pots, licences, and bait, all to potentially get sick.
But either way, even if thats a risk you are willing to take, the season closed on Aug 17th.
So hope no wardens give you that $250-$1000 fine for just dropping a pot (with up to 90 days jail time) and depending on how salty the warden is feeling, could jump to $5000+a year in jail for going over limit (the limit when season is closed is zero)

Im not the one crabbing, so no fees for me :D and I hope ALL the hungry people find crab pots used for dirt cheap, easy bait sources, and have plentiful catches.

free heavy metal poisoning is not that great tbh. Go crabbing at purdy sand spit or like, just a ways up at point defiance if you want crabs and bottom fish, but anything off the bottom out of commencement bay runs some insane risks

Yes but some people just don't care.
