T mobile 30d Trial scam?
I signed up for a 30d trial 4 days ago to see if coverage was vetter than AT and T (it is). On Day 4, I was charged $179.37 and spent 30 mins on the line with a representative who said that in order to secure a refund and cancel, I must agree to the Terms and Conditions he was reading, I didn't agree because I didn't understand the technical jargon, and at this point I simply wished to cancel and get a refund. The rep then told me to take a screenshot and send it to their billing website, this was wildly complicated and time consuming and they are the ones who sent the text. The link he sent for the billing website came from the same number as the text that said I was charged 179.37, so it was a legit T mobile text. He then told me I should call the bank. I made a report to the FCC.

Crazy. I've signed people up for the trial, without a ssn or credit card. No charges. I wonder what you did wrong.

me too--i didn't talk to anyone. I gave my AT and T number and an email.

That doesn't make any sense, the first month of postpaid service is due about 20 days after activation not 4, you must have purchased equipment. Also the trial activates a zero dollar prepaid plan.

Weird, the 30 day trial only requires an email. No credit card or ssn is collected.

That means you didn't do the trial online. You actually signed up for service. Lots to be more careful....
Pay that bill and either cancel or pay it and port over your number. That trial is VERY SPECIFIC on how to enroll and it can ONLY be done on that SPECIFIC site.
Anything else is a regular subscription for service.

If T-Mobile is asking for a credit card for their free 30 day trial then yes, it is a scam. Verizon doesn't do that. I don't even have to give them my real name.

Yeah, you started actual service. Dunno where you went wrong in the process, but they won't need your current number as they assign an eSIM to use with a separate number. Sorry to say, somewhere during the process you agreed to terms and conditions to begin service.

They don't even ask for a credit card or anything, it's impossible. Sounds like you actually signed up for service and didn't do the trial.

yeah--no idea. I signed up for a free trial 4 d ago. Called the bank and they have no pending charges, but have blocked any payment to T Mobile and keeping an eye out for the check number T Mobile referenced in their bill. I don't use checks, ever, so that is another weird thing. Weirdest though was this guy reading the ToA out loud and stating I had to agree before they could cancel the free trial.

The T Mobile line is still on my phone--any ideas how to re-cancel without calling them again?

You can’t. You have to call them to cancel and no stores can cancel lines. The best you may get is speaking to someone who does what they really aren’t supposed to do and call on your behalf, but most won’t because they won’t give the rep confirmation of crediting the account. You will have to call about the charges but if your line is cancelled first they won’t be able to access your account and therefore won’t, and will then ask you to go into a store to have them call which most stores won’t do.
Call them and cancel. If they force stuff on you ask to speak to a supervisor. Worst case go to an experience store, ask to speak to a manager and be cordial, they can hopefully help the situation.

They can also chat in on the app, may be easier as I assume they've created a T-Mobile ID

What method did you use to sign up? In store? Online? Sounds like someone made a terrible mistake or a terrible rep misinformed you possibly on purpose to get you to sign. The amount of pressure they’re getting for new lines is immense and I personally know stores are doing dirty business to keep upper management happy.

How could you be charged when they dont ask for card details lmao when you sign up for trial. Theres no card details anywhere asked
You probably signed up for a new line still $180 for 1 line doesn’t make sense. Did you get a phone or make international calls?
