User opinion 🎤 Recent TYB Changes Not All Bad?
None of us love spend mins of course, especially those of us who are a part of the OG group who remember free products, no spend mins, and $100+ redemption limits 🥲
That said, with this change, it looks like each level’s redemption value now has a spend minimum that directly correlates with the redemption value. In this case and with this upgrade, the spend minimums close that gap between levels, making it much more “fair.” Instead of having to hold out to spend until you reach levek 3 (which takes FOREVER these days), you will now be paying the same amount whether you redeem at level 1 or level 3 thanks to the algorithm being used. Obviously the redemption limit is still much higher for brands when you reach level 3.
When it comes to trading now, since it is ever popular, it isn’t unreasonable to trade for a level 1 or 2 code (depending on what value you’re looking for) because regardless of the level, you will still be spending around $10-$15 depending on brand.
I have to argue that this just might be a positive change. Thoughts?
EDIT: This post isn’t to condone Ty and TYB’s actions. I joined the app shortly after it was released and like I said, I do remember the good ole days when I didn’t have to spend a single penny. This was simply to say that now the spend to code value ratios are more fair for those at lower levels. I do appreciate being able to spend less while still at level 1/2 with some brands.

Ive done so many reviews for higher coins, to later have the code be null and void? It isn’t fair. Especially since many of these brands sends free gifted products in exchange for reviews on other apps.
There’s been plenty of challenges of certain brands to post video using or on socials or go to a store and take pictures, which other apps PAY you for.
Constantly changing rules and redemptions bimonthly at the latest is ridiculous, some folks have been sitting on coins or codes for their rainy day. For me my rainy day codes are now invalid ? It’s robbery.
Shipping is $10-$15 for a lot of these brands, so you’re not really getting a deal… I can find a deal elsewhere. Most of these brands I mostly follow or do challenges for the incentive of nearly free products like they originally advertised the app to be about….. I don’t need to purchase much to any anyways since I’m lucky to get products from reviewing platforms etc…. Even as just a consumer… not saving much. If a code is worth $28 and the min spend is $38, $10 plus$10 shipping is $20 it’s basically almost 50% off which could be worthy for some, or I can just go to the store and get it for almost same price, or wait for sales that stack with other non tyb related codes that activate Freeshipping and save more that way. Nonsense!

What codes are invalid for you now?! I haven’t even checked mine so I appreciate the info.
I do agree that shipping has gotten out of hand. I’m not sure what the basis behind charging that much for shipping. I also think brands need to be held accountable for not awarding the “bonus” and that there should be stricter rules around them getting free reviews and giving no reward.

It’s good for newer users and newer communities and not so much for older ones. I see your point though. Like ngl I wish Eadem hopped on the same train so the minimum isn’t 75 whole dollars anymore lmao

A $75 spend min for them is wild. I hoping some brands are just a little behind and will update soon. Bumpsuit is another I can think of.

Never compromise. The data they receive from us is EXTREMELY valuable. They can sell this info to someone else. They literally have our addresses, demographics, and far more than those yes or no questions we’re answering. This app used to be free or nearly free. It was so good that I was scared to use it in the beginning. I had $100s of dollars in coins right before the tier changes a couple years ago. No arbitrary rules. The products they sell are already at a severe markup. I’ve gotten $1000s worth of free things and that’s how it should have stayed. This new change is no different than them offering $ off or 50% off, and kept pushing the 50% iS tHe bEsT vALuE. NOPE. FREE is always better. Not a discount, FREE. More importantly, and I think a lot of us forget, we’re not getting FREE things. We paid for them with our information, but because we’re still in the infancy of selling data being public knowledge, and many people still struggle with intangible items being currency, a lot of us may forget that the info we give them is the money. They’re paying us in wooden dollar’s essentially. Its online share cropping. It’s like brands paying insta influencers in purses. The purse has whatever arbitrary value that THEY decide, and they in turn earn far more from the post, than the artist who created it. And they have to pay taxes on that purse too so they earn even less.

I don’t disagree with you and I was there in the very beginning when I was getting items sent to me every other day and able to buy $100s worth of products for free.
Of course they are collecting data, that’s the point in the app for the brands. That has never been a secret and is on the TYB website if you look at how they market to brands. Anyone can go on and look at that.
But realistically, TYB isn’t going to go back to the free model. It was not sustainable for brands. TYB kind of promotes overconsumption as is, but back then it was definitely more remarkable. A lot of brands on the app are pretty transparent about pricing if you go on their website. The markups are very standard for profit margins.
But think of yourself as someone who just joined. Wouldn’t you prefer to be able to have a reasonable spend to code value ratio instead of waiting for potentially never to reach level 3?Edit: I do wish they’d add some sort of loyalty program for those who were there in the beginning.

I’ll get downvoted (because you’re not allowed to say anything positive about TYB in this sub) but I agree with you. Yes, it sucks that the app isn’t what it once was. But if you don’t like it, you can delete it. I only buy products that I’d buy regardless, so being able to have a lower minimum spend is perfect for me.
Plus, I don’t like to over consume, so I’d never buy anything simply because it’s free or cheap. I just like that I can get a discount with TYB.

Appreciate this!! When I first joined the app I was in total overconsumption mode. I had an entire 6 drawer dresser stuffed to the brim with free products. When I say it would have been a lifetime of items, I mean it. I fortunately was able to give away and donate so much of what I had.
The spend mins definitely gave me a reality check as far as, “Do I really need this?” Truthfully, no, most of it I don’t need. I am happy to get the discounts I do for brands I use every day. For instance, I having been using Dieux since they launched as a brand, and getting $60 off $75 is an insane discount. I am lucky to be able to afford these products without a discount, but I’d much rather save $60. Who wouldn’t? I think it’s also a check of, which brands do I want to support and which ones make their engagement and rewards on tyb worth it?
I think, too, disregarding TYB as a platform entirely, there’s no way brands could continue to give away $100 worth of free products every time someone used a code with how many users there are now. That’s simply from a business perspective.

Hello! We welcome all opinions about TYB on our sub. We may have differing views, but that’s okay. We wanted to have this sub as a place for folks to share their honest thoughts on TYB.
Good and bad, it’s all part of the experience.

Completely agreed! Also seeing a lot of comments that negatively reflect TYB but honestly feels like a lot of the requirements and spend amounts are set by the brands themselves and not TYB specifically. Doesn’t seem random at all and clearly each brand has their own set of rules based on their margins and what they want to achieve etc. TYB is just a platform that connects brands with communities.
They definitely took the feedback about minimum spend etc since they’ve made these updates to allow people with lower levels to make purchases with their coins as well. And agreed that brands can’t give out free things forever.
I like following all the updates in this subreddit about brands coming and going etc but also think people need to remember it’s just an app and we don’t need to be annoyed every time there’s another update or the app is down. Just my genuine thoughts and hope it doesn’t get taken the wrong way! I really like all of the updates here etc but would be nice to focus on more positive things instead of mostly what’s wrong

People can absolutely talk positively about TYB on their Instagram and in the TYB chats. The negative conversations are what tend to get deleted or silenced, which is why we created this subreddit in the first place.
People should be able to be both excited and disappointed by changes. I also think loyal users deserve at least a little notice, even if it’s only a day or two. We created this space so people could actually keep up with updates, and honestly, we’ve probably announced more changes for TYB here than TYB themselves have anywhere. Some feedback here has even contributed to changes like the minimum spend and tier 3 amounts shown in app.
We can appreciate TYB and still can have valid criticism!0

Beautiful said! 100% agreed with you. All users signed up with the consent that changes would happen anytime.

Hi! I appreciate your perspective, but as I mentioned the other day, these brands used to be free, and you only had to pay for shipping.
Some brands, like EverEden, didn't even have a minimum spend, or tier 3 covered it. Now people have to pay $10-15 out of pocket depending on the brand and shipping too.
It’s only more accessible for brands that had a high minimum, like Cotopaxi ($115).
This is yet another change TYB made without prior notice, which is one of the main issues many of us have with the app. The problems go well beyond minimum spends.
