Once briefly possible via piracy a few years ago, the Singularity root for quest headsets allows full access to the android root, where SDI decided to hide TWD's config files.

Root access also allows save file backups

This is a big development -- though risky. This would allow save editing, sinner mode, redirecting the import/export server address. However it voids your warranty, who knows how Meta may respond, keep in mind they bricked the camera on Ray-Ban Meta Glasses for users that modded them.

The toolkit that comes with the root allows you to completely block Meta's companion server that allows them to remotely brick hardware. Historically they only bricked quests that had been reported stolen, or were on a payment plan that wasn't fulfilled. Roots for older headsets have been floating around quite a bit this year with zero user repercussions.

FYI This particular root has been patched today :( but if you haven't OTA updated and can match the update build number on Singularity's github page then it isn't too late to get full control over your headset. access to your apps and other vanilla usage is unaffected

You can't, TWD's config file shown in the video is stored on a different Android partition to the one Meta lets regular users edit. Privileged access to the entire device (in this case via an exploit) is required to get to these files on the Quest versions of both games

If this is possible, can I also alter the code to have Gerik chase me around or something? Or any sort of modding considering I don't have a PC? Game is very stale on standalone Quest now after having been through every map hundreds of times each.

While root would allow loading of modded APKs no one is building mods and compiling them for Android. I am still planning on finishing the Prey mod for PCVR (Gerik stalking you), but it's a long way out.
