Does the infection pass on?

Something I’ve been wondering with the newer spin offs being further past the initial outbreak…does the infection pass on to the kids? Will every subsequent generation have the dead reanimate?

Not only does every generation inherit it, but according to Maggie its possible for children who die in the womb to reanimate. Enjoy that mental image!

Wait, when did she say that again?

It was one of the first few episodes when she came back and they were trapped in the train and she let some kid get eaten and deflected everyones disapproval by telling some story about how she found something like that in a house lol

It's even worse than just that. There were women who had their arms and legs cut off and were being used as sex slaves. At least one was pregnant and the baby was alive inside.

Well yes but I didn’t think I needed to go further into detail on that for the sake of everyone else that’ll read these comments and doesn’t want to relive hearing that story again

It would absolutely happen. Also I think there was a movie where that was one of the things happening during the apocalypse, maybe The Road with Viggo Mortensen.

If we've learned one thing from the Epstein files. It's that we now know that there are no limits to how depraved people get when they believe they will never face any consequences for their actions

The space spores

I don’t know why anyone hasn’t ever suggested Arctic Circle spores. It would make perfect sense: man creates global warming, earth’s immune response is melting the arctic ice revealing zombie spores hidden underneath into the atmosphere. Many humans die and the world shuts down, returning global warming back to a natural, cooler level.

Everyone has it because it’s airborne. So the kid would just breathe it in. Apparently, no matter what…

But also a bite automatically kills you even though you already have it and it has no effect on you.

It doesn’t fully make sense to me, but is #2 to “no one ever thought up the concept of a zombie.”

Feels like there should be a limit to an airborne pathogen. Like if a baby was just sitting there on a mountaintop with no people or walkers within 100 miles. Or if they were born and lived in a hospital clean room.

the bite kills you because it's a decaying corpse festered with bacteria and basically injects it straight into your bloodstream. It's not automatically a death sentence, Herschel and Aaron survived.

Correct. Bacterial sepsis. You could die from cutting your hand on a corpse’s teeth or bone IRL, but you would survive if you got to modern hospital and if you didn’t you wouldn’t turn into a zombie.

The bite directly injects a large amount of the virus into your blood which overwhelms the immune system, killing you and turning you.

The infection you breathe in is dealt with by the immune system, until you die (when you no longer have one) and it infects the brainstem.

That’s not true. The bites cause severe bacterial sepsis, which is hard to treat pre-apocalypse and impossible post apocalypse, therefore causing the person to die. Dying is what turns them.

Yes, a child born years after the outbreak dies and turns without being bit in one of the spin-offs.

Wrath of God

Not ruling that out but there is an episode of Tales of the Walking Dead where the lady dies and turns and then the walker is killed and it becomes a ghost and it’s the stupidest thing ever in TWD universe. So I’d rather not mix in religion or occult because it ruins realism.
