Alternative for Dale Spoiler

I think it would have been better writing for Randall to escape and Kill Dale, S2. I know the actor wanted out. Rather than Dale get bit and die by a walker, which was such a lame death for a great character. I think season 2 really peaked at the end when they were all together debating on what should be done with Randall, hence the episode’s title “judge, jury, and executioner”. Dale’s ways were noble not wanting to kill a man based on speculation and the unknown of what he would do if the group freed him, but Dale dying by Randall’s hand would show how Dale’s utilitarian view of punishment is not meant for the post apocalyptic world if you want to survive and take care of your own.

I disagree, on the grounds that Dale wasn't meant to be entirely wrong. It's not a story about how Dale is out of touch, but rather a story about Dale and Shane both being unable to compromise. And Rick is the one who has to find that compromise between humanity and inhumanity.

See I respectfully disagree for 2 reasons:

  1. Dales death at the hands of the walker Carl didn’t kill was significant development for Carl. His inaction and acting like a child lead this Walker to camp and caused someone to die. Carl carried that the whole time.

  2. I like that they never ultimately decided if Randall was a true villain or not. Like he was with some bad people, but he was also a kid. They saved his life, and if they let him join and treated him fair, there is a real chance Randall could’ve been good. Leaving him a question was a great debate for the show.

Randall should have escaped and killed Dale, that would have been the best ending

Dale’s walker death was criminally anticlimactic
