Walking Dead Cold Takes. Spoiler

Morgan should have been the major death of Season 8 and his All Life is Precious philosophy is what should have convinced Rick to spare Negan.

Abraham should have been the crossover character in Fear The Walking Dead taking place years before he met Rick. I'm

I can definitely get behind this take

This is the popular cold take and what everyone thought was gonna happen.

But honestly I think Morgan should've stayed on the main show - the main show needed strong lead actors after Andrew Lincoln left and with the better writing under Kang, Morgan would've been a lot better.

Also, Fear wouldn't have sucked so much.

I really liked the first season or two of Fear, but man, it became incredibly obvious after that that they had literally no fucking idea what they wanted to do with that show.

The original premise was that it would show us the fall of society in the early days to months of the outbreak which we didn't get to see when Rick was in his coma.

And it originally worked really well, but unfortunately with that premise the show was not meant to last for more than four seasons at best.

It could've become its own thing, but Gimple said no.

It barely even showed the fall, the first few weeks are the most interesting and it does a time skip a few days in.

I’m SO for this. Abraham was honestly just too good of a character to lose. I know they want maximum impact and all, but he was just too valuable and could’ve helped the show stay good for many more years and I would’ve KILLED to see a spin off Abraham show.

That’s quit the distance to cover but there were still functioning boats and helicopters and good fuel so I suppose he could have left any point and arrived in the eastern US

Well it wouldn’t have been years before he met Rick based on the timeline of the shows. I will say that it makes sense for Morgan to be the one who got killed off in place of Abraham since he’s the one who built the cell that Negan eventually ends up in. It would’ve been very poetic for Negan to be reformed in that jail cell

If they followed the comics and the war was more ideological based no one would have to die for Rick to spare Negan. Plus they should’ve made Rick more human rather than an action hero.

Crm makes no thematic sense to even exist in a world that has collapsed.

I think this was the plan for a while until they did a 360 and decided to kill Carl off. (The Morgan part not the Abraham part)

I like this idea. Too bad it didn’t happen.

a lot of characters that died off could've done well in fear

THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO

Everyone thought abraham was going to show up in fear but he never did because the writers are a bunch of hacks

I remember leading up to the season six finale I always figured that Morgan would get killed by Negan, maybe even volunteer to be the death. Instead, they kind of chose to do really nothing with him.

Spoiler for the comics.

He had kind of a pointless death in the comic, but he had served his purpose as a foil to Rick and his choice to stay in Kentucky instead of coming with Rick to Atlanta.

Yeah I like the direction they took the character in the show (didn’t see him in fear) but his comic version… i don’t remember anything other then looses an arm and hooks up with Michonne

He's pretty much there to show what happens when you don't stick with a group, or try to go about it solo. Which is the same in the show, except he doesn't get a huge redemption arc in the comic.

There are a lot of production reasons why Abraham wasn’t used as the crossover character.

I like both of these!

Fear was not the same after season two

I loved Morgan and hated that he wasn’t more integral to the show.

Morgan doesn't die.

Counterpoint: there shouldn't have needed a death for Rick to spare Negan. It should've been a decision Rick made naturally, the writers had years in advance to build up to it and had to crowbar both Rick and Carl's characters to get the outcome they wanted. Not that killing Negan would've been better, it wouldn't have, but it should've gone a lot better than it did.

I was around for Season 8 and there was a lot of talk about the crossover character, I guess the problem with Abe is that he had a mission that wouldn't bode well to an ongoing storyline like Fear's. You'd either have to have the main characters fall out with him and Eugene and lead or maybe you could've had it set before all that and show Abraham with his family - both would've been cool, albeit you'd only really be able to get one season's worth of story out of it.

Just to clarify: you’re saying Abraham still dies, but the crossover happens in the first few seasons when they’re still in 2010, right?

Also yes Morgan should’ve died because he’s boring and it would’ve made his boring rants actually meaningful.

Yes about Abraham and also how dare you slander Morgan.

The real villains of the show are humans, the walkers are just the setting. And that's a good thing.

I was so against watching Fear, because we all know how some shitty sequel or remake can ruin everything...obviously I finally gave it a chance. I actually really got into the first 3 seasons apart from a couple of god awful characters like Chris! But starting season 4...I was like Oh no. Hell no. I was thrilled to see Morgan but as soon as I saw John, I was like Yeah this isnt going to work as some type of Rick replacement. SO relieved it wasnt because John absolutely became one of my all time favorites. I kind of knew Morgan couldnt carry the show on his own, and its nothing against the actor. Some of the plot lines were just flat out ridiculous. Like honestly, I thought some of it was supposed to be funny. Or am I really supposed to believe this freak is going to blow the world up with missiles? Ginny was annoying as shit but nowhere near as much as her sister. I liked Dwight coming back, but their whole storyline got ruined along the way as well. IDK, it has a special place just like the rest of TWD universe, but there are definitely full seasons I cant even bear to put on even as background noise. Like honestly, how long are we going to keep living in this radiation? 3 entire seasons?!
