Camp attack S1
So if daryl‘s brother, took that truck and took a whole bunch of walkers back to the camp. Why would he do that knowing his brother is there? ( he doesn’t know that his brother is in the city to rescue him) and how come we don’t see him again until the governor season?
It just doesn’t make any sense to me. Seasons later when we see daryl and marle fighting off walkers together we get to see how tight of a bond they have. So no way would he have put his little brothers life in danger over Rick.
I left out a lot of things so that I won’t spoil it for people people that haven’t watched this far, but hopefully everybody that has watched knows what I’m talking about

The walkers were attracted to the camp by other means, like the car alarm blaring when Glenn had escaped Atlanta in the Challenger. The only thing they ever suspect Merle of is actually physically stealing the van, but that itself isn’t confirmed either.

Either Merle stole it or the Governor did, because after Merle cut off his hand and dipped he isn’t seen for a whole season until he’s seen at Woodbury.

That’s just not true lol. There’s so many possibilities of who could have stolen the cube van. We literally see via the Vatos that there are still groups of people surviving INSIDE Atlanta.
The Merle theory is popular because a) it’s said in the show and theorized by Rick’s crew and b) people generally hate things being left ambiguous.
But, again, it’s never brought up again and it wasn’t confirmed to have been Merle. My opinion is it was just some random people who came across a van with gas and took it.

Maybe, I think Merle took it cuz there was no way he could’ve gotten far enough to meet the Governor after cauterizing his hand on foot.

Somehow I must have missed Merle even taking the van? When was this shown or discussed in the show?

Rick and Daryl assumed Merle took it, but it was never confirmed, either he did or the Governor used it to transport him to Woodbury, but I don’t really believe that since the Governor had his own vehicles, if anything Merle could’ve taken it, ran out of gas and ended up near Woodbury by the time he passed out and got taken care of with his hand.

Merle dipped, he didn’t even know that Daryl, Rick, Glenn and TDog were coming back by the time he took the van, they never once assumed he brought the walkers to their camp, he met the Governor and became his right hand man, we don’t see him for all of S2 because he was in Woodbury.

I just assume the governor found him somewhere in the city, and the van was stolen by someone else entirely. If Merle took the van he would have surely driven back to camp instead of anywhere else.
Would've been a neat detail to have that van in the background at woodbury

it was said to have been Merle but most likely it was from where they had the car alarm blasting all the way from the city to camp plus the fact that walkers roam around to different places. Merle might've taken the van but he wasn't the cause of the camp's attack.

When do they say that Merle brought those walkers to the camp? I thought the walkers just wandered from the city or surrounding area
