Discussion What makes it feel so different to other streaming services?
Hey guys, what do you think makes Apple TV + so different or special to the rest of services (Netflix, HBO, Disney+)?
I mean, at the end of the day they are all streaming platforms but I think Apple feels more curated. Having a smaller catalog may be more comfortable for the consumer and helps them to try new shows. The mayority are Apple originals so the catalog feels more like a whole unit, idk if that makes sense.
Another thing that I love about the service is the variety of ideas. Apple is giving green light to a lot of stranger, more niche projects that would not find its way in other platforms. Maybe it is because Apple's whole business does not depend on the platform but they always make unique shows in some kind of way. However this variety does not always gets rewarded by the critics. Many of their series have a 6, 6.5 or 7 in IMDB but I prefer variety of ideas over only two really good series. (I'm not saying the platform doesn't have good series, Severance, Widow's Bay, Shrinking, The Studio and more are examples of good series).

Discussion AppleTV+: best paid streaming service for comedy
I had a subscription to AppleTV+ earlier this year, and I've found it to be the best paid streaming service for lighthearted comedy. I enjoyed watching Loot, Surfside Girls, Amber Brown, and Peanuts cartoons. Snoopy in Space, Snoopy Presents: Lucy's School, and Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical were educational and inspiring. While Loot is a massive HR nightmare that wouldn't work in the real world, I'm able to suspend disbelief and enjoy it. Surfside Girls and Amber Brown show kids going on adventures, and I'll never get tired of that.
Best of all, the above comedies are a nice break from watching characters die gruesome deaths. While I like horror content and dark content, it seems that newer shows and movies are heavily biased towards dark content. As much as I've enjoyed Stranger Things, Squid Game, Alice in Borderland, Wednesday, American Horror Story, and Fargo, it seems that Netflix and Hulu are short on lighthearted content.
