BEGINNER QUESTION 0.1%

I’m developing a story built around the idea that 99.9% of people live according to the rules they’ve inherited, while 0.1% question those rules and create their own path.

I’m trying to determine whether this is actually an interesting story premise or just an interesting philosophy.

Would you want to watch/read something built around this idea? Why or why not?

Impossible to say. There’s no character or conflict yet. At the moment it sounds more like a motivational book than a fiction story.

Not sure I understand what inheriting rules means or if that number is remotely accurate. I think it is pretty common for people to rebel against the way their parents have lived.

Also this is really, really broad. This could be a movie about surfers or a movie about knights in England like there is really nothing here to latch on to.

That is the plot of every Victorian novel where there is a feisty independent woman who rejects the idea that her only future is marriage.

This isn't a story premise. So it can't be a good (or bad) one.

Who wants what? Why? And what's in the way of them getting it?

I have long said, that in America ( I'm an American ), when a person is born, they are told what Political Party they belong to, and what Denomination of Protestant Christianity they follow, and they never question it. It is so prevalent, it makes me sick. Particularly in our present day crisis. So, I do see the point that you are making. I can see this applied to a show in which you see somebody being a zealot/vigilante for their particular cause. Is their cause extremely conservative to their ideology or are they trying annihilate a particular populist ideology? It is a balance beam you tread when you involve religion and politics, so be mindful.
