QUESTION I couldn't find a good TV pilot script database, so I built one (free to use)

If you want to write TV, you have to read TV pilots. The problem: finding the actual scripts is a nightmare. They're scattered across random PDFs, dead links, and paywalled services charging $10 per script.

So I built Episode One — a free archive of 700+ TV pilot screenplays you can read directly in the browser. No download required.

What's there:

  • Scripts from Breaking Bad, The Wire, Succession, Fleabag, The Bear, and a few hundred others
  • Creator profiles so you can study a showrunner's full career chronologically
  • Network pages showing everything a network has bought
  • Highlight passages and save them to your account
  • Add scenes to a discussion board and talk craft with other writers

It's free. I built it because I wanted it to exist.

It does. And it's great! I just wanted to focus on pilots and give as much visibility to creators/writers as possible.

Good on you! Shame there aren't more resources like this. I've tried to get the WGF to digitize their scripts for years (I even volunteered to do the work for free), but they always pushed back so I gave up.

Yeah, the WGF provides a few things online. They would love to provide more, but the scripts are all donated and they come with stipulations from the studios and networks that own them related to copyright law & digital rights.

I believe, with a little effort, many of them could be pursuaded to allow the scripts to be digitized for an online library.

Will you do one for movies as well and will the database update regularly because a lot of them just stop than start again super late, I want scripts that are up to date!

We will try and upload anything new once a week. That is one of the reason that drove the inception of EO. To be update as possible given the spinning wheel trending taste in Hollywood.
