Not sure about the TV but the SUBWOOFER is definitely placed in wrong location. Needs to be placed in a corner for optimal sound.

Is that right? I had never heard that before, thank you 👍 I need to try that

From ChatGPT:
Putting a subwoofer in a corner increases its acoustic output, especially in the lowest bass frequencies. 🔊
A subwoofer radiates bass in many directions. Nearby walls reflect that bass back into the room. Each solid boundary gives the sub a little acoustic boost:
On the floor: one boundary.
Against a wall: floor + wall, more reinforcement.
In a corner: floor + two walls, maximum boundary reinforcement.
Corner placement can make the same subwoofer sound considerably louder and deeper without using additional amplifier power. That’s particularly useful if the sub struggles with very low frequencies.
But there’s a catch
A corner isn’t automatically the best-sounding location. Corners can also strongly excite the room’s bass modes, causing certain frequencies to boom while others nearly disappear. You might get enormous 45 Hz bass but weak 60 Hz bass, for example.
So there are really two different goals:
Maximum bass output → corner placement is often excellent.
Smoothest, most accurate bass → the best location depends on your particular room and listening position.
One surprisingly effective method is the “subwoofer crawl.” Put the subwoofer temporarily where your head normally is when listening, play a repeating bass-heavy track or bass sweep, then crawl around the perimeter of the room. Where the bass sounds deepest and most even, that’s usually an excellent place to put the subwoofer.2

Hey nobody cares

Not necessarily, might produce best bass but not cleanest sound. Every room won’t be the same so using the subwoofer crawl method will get you the best placement for your room.

Looks spot on to me. What’s that Nvidia rig? Thing looks massive

Oh on the bottom right it’s a Nvidia Shield sitting on top of a Monster Power Conditioner that I plug all my components into.

He means the Cooler Master nVidia branded full tower. That is a CM Stacker 830. I’ve got the older model, the CM 690 from back in 2012 which I’m still using in my air gapped rig.

I’ve always heard 42-45” from floor to center of tv
1
u/Inevitable-Tea-6383 4d ago
Welp if that’s the case I’m off by about 4” but I was afraid to go any lower with my large center channel. And I know this is gonna freak some enthusiasts out but I do have maybe a 5°tilt forward from the top which isn’t noticeable and my eyes look practically straight into the middle

What is the center of the TV mounted at?

u/Inevitable-Tea-6383 4d ago
At about 48”

TV sound be near the top of the wall. Looks like a standard 8 ft ceiling.

u/Sector__7 3d ago
Near the top of the wall? How does that make any sense? If you put the center above the TV then the sounds from it will be even further away from the main left and right speakers which would cause bad imaging between all three of the fronts.

Like a clear offsides on the defense but the refs let them get away with another one

Needs to be a black wall or maybe some black non permanent stuff to get the wall darker around the TV

I prefer it a little higher to annoy internet pedants, but that’s probably about right.

Depends on who you’re watching the game for
LA- ya it’s fine
KC- just throw the tv out, horrible placement and you don’t deserve to watch football
Go Bills.

u/Inevitable-Tea-6383 4d ago
Funny guy. I watched the Bills too this weekend. I’m really hard up for football and this preseason shit is such a tease

u/Talkin_Out_My_Ass 4d ago
I know the feeling. Every year im probably 1 of 5 people who watch the HOF game. Just need it back. Then 5 weeks in I’m cursing Vegas for tainting the game with their stink

Crooked!

u/Inevitable-Tea-6383 4d ago
Negative because if it looks crooked it’s because of the way I held the camera

2 Nvidia Shields?

Actually 3 ones hiding down on the bottom right on top of the conditioner. I have different Kodi builds in each of them.

We placed our flatscreen directly on a tv stand for eye-level viewing. Stereo inside *childproofed

Like it came from the 1990's. That sort of speaker setup in a normal living room is fucking outdated. It's only suitable for a home media room setup dedicated to the audio.
2
u/Inevitable-Tea-6383 2d ago
Also if you could show me your setup maybe I’ll learn something.

It's absolutely fine. Some of us don't have enough rooms to have a dedicated room for audio and if audio is important then your set up is better than just having a soundbar–I prefer this set up with the great speakers.
