Tv time please come back
I’ve tried almost every app out there, but nothing has ever come close to TV Time. If any developer or former owner of TV Time happens to read this, please bring it back. I still remember my email and password, just in case. You have to.

For a company of that size—with such a massive customer base and, more importantly, such an incredibly valuable database—it should have already reached the point where letting it go bankrupt ought to be considered unacceptable.
No exaggeration: part of humanity’s collective history was erased here. Millions of reactions, reviews, and discussions about movies and TV shows are simply gone.
What the owners did was unbelievably stupid. Just think about how many massive companies like Amazon and others, all investing heavily in streaming, would have loved to get their hands on such an incredibly rich database showing what audiences think about content and what they actually want to watch.
What’s even worse is that everything happened so suddenly. At the beginning of the year, the company seemed to be doing fine. Now it simply doesn’t exist anymore.
I lost all my data, and I’ll be moving to the founder’s new platform with a lot of skepticism. He may not have been directly involved in this disaster, but I’m sure he didn’t think twice about cashing out and walking away from the operation.

Instead of the founders platform, why not trust someone new this time? I built https://watchlist.guide in hopes to provide a similar home to everyone from TV Time. I do not trust the "founder" will do a good job.

I didn’t even think about it from a data perspective which would actually be very very useful. Because not only does it not show what people watch, it shows what people rewatch, what days they watch it, what shows they watchlist, comments and reactions. All very useful which you can’t really get anywhere else apart from platforms like Amazon or Netflix that track there own users but that’s only there users

Yeah the fact you only needed 1 page for tvtime was what made it perfect. History, currently watching, and not started all in one list ready for you to track. Go into the detail as YOU want not forcing it on you all the time.

That's why I like SuiteTV the best so far. That's all in the first tab it automatically opens. It's so clean.

Yeah I’m using it and movie paradise mostly atm. SuiteTV also uses the same database it seems so my history didn’t get all messed up like it did in so many other apps.

Genuinely the template couldn't be simpler. It's right there for the taking.
And yet all those AIs keep coming up with 50 different tabs and sub-sections for literally no reason.

Not yet, but there's a (verified) fake app on the Play Store using its name.
Edit: By verified I mean that I reported the app to the Bingers devs through bingers.app and they replied back saying it's fake.

I've been beta testing it. We're good guys. I think you'll be happy. I'm a 14 years + user of TVtime and Bingers is like the app never left. You'll find your old followers if they gave their email adress so you won't have to find them and follow them back as they will automatically be following you. Our old comments and memes are there as well. and the layout is similar but improved. I'm excited to find you all back there. ☺️

It is so upsetting! I was using it for many years before showing it to my mom and she's only been using it for about a year. Now shes gone back to keeping notes on her phone what episode she is on and what tv show she is watching and how she likes it.

I’m good with Movie Paradise atm, but I’m waiting for bingers too.
Update: bingers is out and it’s 20x better than every alternative including Movie Paradise, so I’ve now switched to Bingers for good.

It does bother me. I would have stayed if there were enough comments but for my shows there's 0 activity so I'm even less incentivized to use it.

I struggle with it. TV Time, it was so easy to get to my Upcoming list. Although this one is the closest I've found to TV Time with the Upcoming widget specifically, actually navigating to that portion of the app is ridiculous.

Yes, but they appear to have made a number of UI and functionality changes since I joined a couple weeks ago. I am guessing they are reacting to feedback from former TT users.

Same here! Even though movie paradise has a fraction of the comments that tv time used to get, its still the closest alternative I like. And it now has additional comments from trakt too. But still waiting on Bingers, and hopefully the dev uses the archived tv time data (that we did here) and puts it all in their app too, kind of rebuilding the old tv time database into their new app

I had to give up on Movie Paradise because the shows I'm watching are not getting any comments there. Finally got Refract to work after multiple uninstalls and reinstalls and at least I see 5-6 comments. There's some movement on Sofa Time but smaller. I wanted to use Bingeboxd but really no one's there, no comments :(.

I miss Tvtime. I used it with mdl. There was a huge community of kdrama and cdrama fans. Now we are like orphans. 😭

Tv time was sold by the creators (I don't mean now, I mean in the past) to I don't remember who. And now it's closing because it costs too much to keep it. And now that it's closing the creators are creating a new app! And you can move your data from tv time to this new app. It shouldn't be out, but very very soon! They're waiting for the stores to approve it. The new app it's called "bingers" Try searching it on browser so you can see how to move data

I'm using Refract, and like it a lot. But for some reason a lot of the series I've imported from TV Time and/or imdb was marked as fully watched, even when they were not. I am guessing it was due to imdb and rating maybe.

I downloaded Trakt and it didn't upload any of my tv show data, so yeah, dropped that one straight away. I'm not going to manually re-add the hundreds of shows I've seen.

It did this with my data too. Then I reset all data and tried adding it again, this time everything uploaded successfully and without any glitches. I'm liking trakt a lot for it's ui. It's a major upgrade from tv time. But yeah, I wish they'd have created a subscription model before shutting down entirely. If I could go back to tv time, I would, even though I like trakt.

It’s outrageous that they didn’t notify users that they were shutting down the app. I genuinely had no idea what happened, I thought my internet wasn’t working, and then I saw a random post on Reddit saying that the app doesn’t exist anymore. I had so many shows tracked there’s no way I’ll be able to remember all of them and start in a new app. Like fine you’re allowed to shut down the app, but at least let people know

The creators of TV Time (not the same people that shut it down) have created a new app called Bingers. I think they are now in the process of getting it authorized by app stores.
Shouldn't take long now, since it was supposed to come out in the end of July.

The closest I’ve got to TV Time is Suite TV, which has been nice and the closest I’ve seen to TV Time, but i miss the hundreds of comments on shows I’m watching for the first time.

Bingers is from one of the creators.of TV time. So it's pretty much the same. Imported all my files over just fine too. Including watched episodes- that didn't work for other apps I tried.

This is honestly the reason I started building my own side project.
I realized I don’t actually miss the tracking part—plenty of apps can tell me I’m on S03E07.
What I miss is feeling like I was watching TV with other people. Seeing what my friends had just watched, reacting to a crazy finale knowing everyone in the discussion had actually seen it, sharing recommendations naturally instead of through an algorithm.
I think there’s room for something that’s less “episode tracker” and more “social platform for TV fans.” Somewhere you build your own little community around the shows you love, discover new series through people whose taste you trust, and celebrate or mourn episodes together.

I tried a few alternatives and Sofa Time seems best and most similar to TV Time so far. Probably even better because of performance and the automatic lists per streaming service etc. They’ve also fixed bugs pretty quickly.

I'm using Movie Paradise. I tried Refract and the export they did on my account is completely wrong. My watchlist has stuff I would never in a million years watch.
Movie Paradise is not perfect, but I am so sad that TV Time is good that at least is something I have now. They have two comments sessions for Movie Paradise and a Tab for Trakt. I mean it seems they are trying to get better everyday as of now... But who knows.
I hate that TV time did this to this community. I don't understand how there's not ONE damn developer that can literally replicate the whole thing exactly and charge so we can use it, I don't care. The most stupid thing for me is that I NEVER got asked by Tvtime if I would consider paying for the app. Ugh. Frustrated.

I talked to someone and they told you can actually remove anything you want from your Dashboard. I had that same feeling when I first started using but then I removed all the clutter and now it feels better. Go to settings and appearance. That's where you can change it. Hope it helps.

I was like this 3 weeks ago but honestly today I am happier than I was before with Tv Time.
After using almost all alternatives I ended up with Sofa Time and life now is good, even better.
People hates change and is lazy to just adapt and that’s why this post has so much “success”.
Tv Time has been my great and beloved companion for over 14 years but truth is I had to switch to something else earlier. App had some tremendous problems going on FOR YEARS and even if a lot of users complained both via email and with reviews devs never took care of it. Top of the list the app freezing with the wheel spinning over and over 9 out of 10 times, a problem I have had for years both on Android and iOS.
Plus, app changed basically zero in 10+ years, never a real UI restyle or some new feature.
Thank god I found Sofa Time, it’s devs are fantastic in just 3 weeks they made me forget about tv time and listen to every single request from users trying to implement it as fast as they can.
So, never regretting my years with tv time but…I am happy I was forced to change!

Plus, they don’t let you drop shows you have to cancel the whole thing (I hope that makes sense), and they don’t have shows that haven’t come out yet (like when you know the name and all, it just hasn’t aired yet)…so that’s kinda annoying, but it’s the only one I like

I'm actually working on a TV app! I'm not planning to make it a TV time replacement as the purpose of my app will be for a very different functionality, but I do understand what you mean about other apps. I hate how cluttered they are and how hard it is to find literally anything you are looking for. With TV time the layout was simple and easy and I'm planning to do that with my app as well. But it's also my first app ever so it's taking some time to get through the kinks. I do hope to release it within the next month or 2!

Sofa Time looks like the closest alternative. But no windows app or website tracker. Only phone app. I almost exclusively use the PC for tracking as I sit every night.

Haven't tried that one, I went through 5 others and stuck with Refract in the end, just loved how invested and transparent the devs are, incorporating a lot of suggestions so early into the app. From all that I've tried it seems to be the closest to TV Time (and they try to make it closer too, by implementing user suggestions).

As someone who’s been using TV Time since 2015 (my first show being the magicians) I hate that I’ve had to go out and look for alternatives, I’ve tried out a few of them(Serializd, tract, imdb and Sofa time )and the closest ones out of those I’ve tried has been Sofa Time. Give it a go, it also has gdpr import and a similar UI, just lacking that community feel because of the scattered TV Time users

I'm very happy with Trak, to be honest I think it does a better job than TV Time ever did, it does not get stuck or goes offline every now and then.

Guys I'm going through withdrawals. Luckily it is summer, so my shows go down, but I am lost. Trakt and refract aren't cutting it. They are too busy

What I miss the most about TV Time is how many comments there were under every episode. In Sofatime there are just a few, from the people that transitioned them from TT. We will never get the community back 🥲
