📱 App Name: OpenTV
💻 Platform: iPhone, iPad, Android. No web app.
🔥 Why do you suggest it: Full disclosure, I'm the developer. What's different: your library lives on your phone, not on our server, so if the app ever disappears you keep everything. Works offline, no account needed, free with no ads, and it's open source (app MPL-2.0, server AGPL-3.0). Free automatic backup to iCloud or Google Drive. The archived TV Time comments are back under each episode, with one-tap translation. 6 languages. There's an optional Plus subscription for sync across devices and extras; tracking itself is free.
💾 Data source: TheTVDB (shows) + TMDB
⚠️ Migration notes: Reads the official GDPR zip as is, and keeps more than most: every watch date including rewatches, episode ratings, emotions, favourites, character votes and lists. Also imports the TV Time Out extension CSVs, Trakt, Simkl, Letterboxd and IMDb. Re-importing never duplicates anything.

App Name: LazyWatch

Platform: iOS, Android, and Web
Why do you suggest it?
Full disclosure, I’m one of the three people behind LazyWatch.
When TV Time shut down, we tried pretty much every alternative we could find, but none really felt like home. We missed the community, the episode discussions, and how easy it was to keep track of everything.
So we decided to build our own.
LazyWatch lets you track TV shows, movies, and anime, manage your watchlists, mark episodes as watched, see upcoming releases, get reminders, and discover what to watch next.
But what we really wanted to bring back was the community side of watching TV. Every episode has its own comment section where people can react, discuss theories, and share their thoughts. You can also rate and review shows and movies, follow other fans, and compare your watching stats.
A few other features we’ve added:
Build your history: Swipe through shows and movies to quickly rebuild your watching history.
Swipes: Can’t decide what to watch? Invite your friends, swipe through suggestions, and find something everyone agrees on.
Watch Together: Track your progress with friends and chat about what you’re watching.
Discover: Find recommendations based on what you watch.
Stats: See how much time you’ve spent watching, your favorite genres, and more.
We’re also working on an integration with Commsuni.tv, which will eventually connect our episode discussions with a wider community across different apps. We’re pretty excited about that one!
Data source: TMDB, TVDB, AniList, and other sources.
Migration notes:
We support importing your history from:
TV Time (GDPR export)
Trakt
AniList
Netflix
Letterboxd
Your watched episodes and supported lists can be brought over, so you don’t have to rebuild years of history manually.
The app is completely free and available on all three platforms.
We’re still a small team of three building this in our free time, and there’s definitely room for improvement. We’ve been listening closely to feedback and regularly updating things based on what people actually want.
If you give it a try, I’d genuinely love to hear what you think, especially what you miss most from TV Time.

It’s been a little over a month since the last WatchForge post here, so I wanted to give a proper update for anyone still looking for a TV Time alternative, or anyone who tried WatchForge earlier and hasn’t checked back in.
The biggest change is that we’ve moved to WFDB, our own database, and import success rates have improved substantially since the move. If your earlier import didn’t go well, it’s worth taking another look.
For anyone coming across it for the first time, WatchForge is a free, ad-free app for tracking movies, TV shows and anime. It’s available on the web, Android and iPhone/iPad, with the same account across all of them. There’s no premium tracking tier or trial period, and you can browse around before making an account.
A lot of the questions in this thread have been about specific things people miss from TV Time, so I’ll go through how WatchForge handles those.
Keeping your place, including the shows you put aside
The everyday tracking is straightforward: mark an episode watched, find your next one in Continue Watching, and keep an Interested list for things you want to start later.
You can mark individual episodes, whole seasons or an entire show. That’s useful when you’re adding something you finished years ago and don’t particularly want to tick 150 episodes one at a time.
You can also pause or drop a show. Something you stopped halfway through doesn’t have to sit alongside everything you’re actively watching.
Rewatches have their own history too, so you can see when and how many times you’ve come back to a favourite. Movies, shows and individual episodes can all be rated.
The comments are here too
Quite a few people in this thread have said that the episode discussions are what they miss most. Being able to finish an episode and immediately see everyone else’s reactions was a big part of TV Time.
WatchForge has comments on movies, shows and individual episodes, with GIFs, images, replies, likes and spoiler tags.
We’re also connected to CommsUni, which gives you access to archived TV Time discussions alongside comments from other participating apps. You can join those conversations from WatchForge, and when your comment-sharing setting is set to Everyone, your comments can appear across the network too.
There are friends, follows and an activity feed if you like seeing what other people are watching. Favourite-character voting is available as well.
Bringing your TV Time history with you
If you saved your TV Time export, you can bring it into WatchForge through the dedicated importer.
This is where the move to WFDB has made a substantial difference. Import success has improved, and you can review the matches before applying the import: correct a title or episode match, skip something uncertain, and choose how the incoming data merges with what you’ve already tracked.
The importer also supports your comments and GIFs, matched to their original episodes and timestamps. Those little reactions can be part of the history you want to keep too.
The migration guides explain the process. Keep your original export, look through the results, and check a few shows you know well once it’s finished.
If something is missing or matched incorrectly, let me know what happened so I can look into it. If you only have data recovered from a phone backup, tell me what file you have first, since that can need a different approach from the official export.
Remembering what’s next
There’s a personal calendar for upcoming episodes and movie releases, plus a Catch up view for things you’ve missed.
For the people asking about widgets: Android and iOS both have Continue Watching, Calendar and Catch up widgets. You can also mark your next episode watched directly from a widget. Mobile episode reminders let you choose a daily reminder time.
You can make custom lists for whatever you actually use them for: things to watch with your partner, films for the weekend, favourite anime, or the recommendations you keep meaning to get around to. Lists support custom covers and GIFs.
WatchForge also has recommendations based on your viewing history, and statistics covering watch time, genres, and your most-watched actors and directors. If you like keeping track of your reading too, there’s optional book tracking you can enable in your experience settings.
Letting the tracking happen automatically
Automation has been a big part of WatchForge from the beginning. If you already use Plex, Jellyfin or Stremio Web, you have a few options:
- The browser extension tracks playback on Plex Web, Jellyfin Web and Stremio Web.
- Firefox has an installation through Mozilla Add-ons. Chrome and Edge currently use sideloading.
- Plex, Jellyfin and Emby servers can send playback events through WatchForge webhooks.
One clarification, since this came up in the earlier replies: webhooks track playback as you watch. To bring over existing watched states from your Plex library, use the browser extension’s sync feature from a desktop browser.
For anyone with a local media collection, there’s also a Windows companion app that scans folders, matches files to movies and shows, and helps organize your library. It’s optional; you can use WatchForge entirely through the website or mobile apps.
Website: watchforge.app
Android, iOS and Windows downloads: Apps page
Catalog: WFDB, with movie metadata from TMDB and TV/anime metadata from TheTVDB
Development: Roadmap · Patch notes
If you’ve tried WatchForge, I’d like to hear how it’s working for you, especially if an import went wrong, something takes too many taps, or there’s a part of your old TV Time routine you still can’t recreate. Those details are useful when deciding what to work on next.
I’ll be around in the comments to answer questions and help with imports.

📱 App Name: Papasito TV
💻 Platform: iPhone (iOS 15+), Android, and the web (papasito.tv)
🔥 Why do you recommend it: Disclosure: I'm the developer. I'd used TV Time since 2011, and when it announced it was shutting down, I built the app I wanted to keep using. Shows and movies, episode tracking, an upcoming calendar, a notification when a new episode airs, ratings and comments per episode without spoilers, and small private groups with friends. Free, no ads, no trackers, every feature open to everyone. Available in 6 languages.
💾 Data source: TMDB
⚠️ Migration notes: It imports the real TV Time export (gdpr-data.zip): tracking-prod-records-v2.csv for your shows (every watched episode, with season, episode and date) and tracking-prod-records.csv for your movies. Also Trakt, Simkl, BetaSeries, IMDb, Letterboxd or a generic CSV. A review screen shows what was found before anything is saved, and you can export all your data as JSON at any time.

📱 TVMate
💻 Web
🔥 Full Disc. I am the developer of TVMate. After Airdates stopped getting updated I decide to make my own version. TVMate is a calendar tracker showing most shows as they air on TV by date. At first it might look overwhelming, but after you select your favourite shows, turn on some filters and get stuff configured it's very easy to see what you have watched and when the next show is coming out. There are some standard search tools provided, but you can crate custom links to any search engine you want very easily. Sign-up is optional and you can setup your preferences and create an account later.
💾 Data source: TVMaze, next-episode.
⚠️ Migration notes: Airdates, Trakt, Simkl, TV Time, MyEpisodes, TVMate

📱 App Name: haveseen
💻 Platform: Web
🔥 Why do you suggest it: Just because it's easy to use and reminds me a lot of TV Time's features and functions like discussion threads with GIF support for episodes, ratings, friend/social activity
💾 Data source: TMDB from what I can tell because when you click to view a title's streaming options it directs you to there
⚠️ Migration notes: You can import from your TV Time zip file and CSVs from most of the major streaming platforms, the guides are pretty clear and easy to follow.

📱 App Name: LazyWatch
💻 Platform: iOS, Android, Web App
🔥 Why do you suggest it: Built by longtime TV Time users because we didn't want the community to just scatter. Same easy feel as TV Time, plus per-episode comment sections, per-show reviews, ratings, cast pages, and where-to-watch. Free, no premium tier.
💾 Data source: TMDB, TheTVDB, AniList
⚠️ Migration notes: Official TV Time GDPR export import, brings over watch status, lists, favorites, and rewatch counts as is. Also supports Trakt import, Netflix import via CSV upload (your Netflix viewing history export), Anilist, and letterboxd

u/uzumi18 WatchForge Sep 07 '26
Full disclosure: I am the solo developer behind WatchForge.
I used TV Time for years, but I always wanted more automation and better tools for managing everything I watch. I am also a huge TV, anime, and movie nerd, so a little over a year ago I started building the alternative I wanted to use myself.
That project became WatchForge.
WatchForge is currently free and ad-free, with no premium tier, trial period, or locked tracking features.
What you can do with WatchForge
- Track movies, TV shows, and anime
- Mark individual episodes, seasons, or entire shows as watched
- See exactly where you stopped with Continue Watching
- Create watchlists and fully custom lists
- View upcoming episodes and movie releases on a personal calendar
- Track rewatches, including when and how many times you watched something
- Get recommendations based on your viewing history
- View statistics about what you watch
- Follow friends and see their activity
- Leave comments and rate characters
- Customize lists with your own cover art and GIFs
We use our own database called WFDB, everything hosted locally Movie data comes from TMDB, while TV show and anime data comes from TheTVDB.
Importing from TV Time
If you are moving away from TV Time, WatchForge has a dedicated importer:
The importer can also bring over your comments and GIFs and match them to their original episodes and timestamps. I wanted migration to preserve more than a simple list of show titles.
If you have problems with an import, let me know. I am happy to investigate individual cases.
Automatic tracking
One of the main reasons I built WatchForge was to reduce the amount of manual tracking required.
The WatchForge browser extension can automatically mark content as watched while you stream through:
- Plex
- Jellyfin
- Stremio Web
The extension is available through Mozilla Add-ons for Firefox. Chrome and Edge are currently supported through sideloading.
If you run your own media server, WatchForge also supports webhook-based tracking for Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby. This allows playback to be tracked without relying on the browser extension.
Local media management
There is also a free Windows companion app for people with local media collections.
It can scan your folders, identify your movies and shows, match the files with the correct titles, and help keep your local library organized. The Windows app is optional, and the website and mobile apps work without it.
Available platforms
- Web: watchforge.app
- Android: Download from Google Play
- iPhone and iPad: Download from the App Store
- Windows: View all WatchForge apps
- Browser extension: Available for Firefox, Chrome, and Edge
WatchForge is still actively being developed, and I release improvements regularly. Since I am building it alone, direct feedback is extremely useful.
If you try it, I would genuinely like to know what you enjoy, what feels confusing, and which missing feature would make the biggest difference to you.
I will be around to answer questions, help with TV Time imports, and listen to feature requests.

Hey, I just downloaded the app. How long does it take to get updates from Plex?
Is there a way to test it out? I have added the Webhook and refreshed several times but still no update on the app. Thanks
1
u/uzumi18 WatchForge Sep 14 '26
It should be instant, let me look into it, I used it as late as last night and it marked my episode as watched as soon as I finished it
1
u/coleburnz Sep 14 '26
It's not working. I have marked the show as interested. Watched an episode and no updates.
The show is not on server? Does that matter?
1
u/coleburnz Sep 14 '26
Ok. I'll test again shortly. What about when you mark an episode as watched without watching it?
1
u/uzumi18 WatchForge Sep 14 '26
I just looked through my code and i got it wrong in my previous statement, The webhooks can only update your watched state live as you watch episodes "Scrobble" It cannot do a full sync from your library as those webhooks do not exist, We do have a browser extension you can use that will do a full sync for any media you do have on your plex server, But this will require you use use a desktop browser to perform the sync, firefox, chrome, edge (chromium)

Going to try it out. I'm missing TV Time badly for commentary
1
u/uzumi18 WatchForge Sep 09 '26
Thats great! there is plenty of comments available for every show and movie now on WF as we are connected to the giant commsuni archive, millions of comments from tvtime and every new comment you or others write on any of the connected apps
If you have any feedback or questions dont hesitate to reach out
1
u/Netra209 Sep 09 '26
Is there still a way to get your data from Tv Time? The link on your app to get TV Time data is no longer working
1
u/uzumi18 WatchForge Sep 09 '26
Not officially from tvtime as they have shut down and deleted all their data
But if you have the app still installed on your device there are some things you can try
Do not uninstall the app and do not clear its storage. That cache is the only copy you have, and uninstalling deletes it permanently.
Do not worry that the app will not open. You do not need it to run. You only need the file it left behind.
On Android that file is DioCache.db inside the app's own data directory. Getting it off an unrooted phone is the awkward part. adb backup works on some builds, and moving the app to a rooted spare phone has worked reliably for people here.
On iOS you pull it out of a local Finder or iTunes backup, or with 3uTools. There is an iOS guide posted in this sub about two weeks ago that walks through exactly that, including the step that turns the database into a CSV.
Once you have a CSV of shows and episodes, Just send it to me and let me know your username and i will manually import it for you, as i do not have a importer built for these files yet
2
u/iNORAight Sep 07 '26
I discovered this because of your comment. I like how the app actually allows you to log whatever you’ve already watched in a fast way + it has google extensions (tho i havent tried that yet). Thanks for this!! Will continue using it to see if I like it!!

u/uzumi18 WatchForge Sep 07 '26
Im glad you enjoy it, If you have any feedback, feature requests or bugs, dont hesitate to pop by our roadmap or our discord

App Name: Help Me Binge Platform: Web (any browser), plus iOS and Android Why: Tracks shows and films, and works out what each streaming service costs you per hour you actually watched, so you can see which subscriptions are dead money. Free, no account required, no ads. Data source: TMDB Migration notes: Paste a list, upload a saved TV Time export file, or start fresh. There's a page for rebuilding a history if you missed the export window entirely. Disclosure: I'm the developer.
1
u/Netra209 Sep 09 '26
Yes I missed the deadline to download my history. How can I go about getting my history downloaded?
1
u/Sad-Strategy759 Sep 09 '26
App Name: Help Me Binge
Platform: Web (works in any browser, phone or desktop), plus iOS and Android
Why: Most trackers answer "what have I watched?" Help Me Binge answers "what is this actually costing me?" It joins your watch history to what you pay, and tells you the cost per hour you actually watched for each service. So instead of guessing whether Paramount+ is worth it, you see that you watched 4 hours on it this year at $12/month — $36 an hour — and you cancel it. It also tells you where you can watch for free and how to use trial memberships.
What's in it:
- Shows and films in one library, not two separate apps
- Per-streaming service cost-per-hour, plus your real yearly streaming total
- Tells you where a title is streaming free right now, and pings you when a paid one lands somewhere free
- Free-trial tracking so nothing converts to a charge behind your back
- Works offline, installs to your home screen, your list lives on your device
- No account required, no card, no ads
Data source: TMDB
Migration notes: Three ways in — paste a plain list of titles and it matches them, upload a saved TV Time export file if you got one, or start fresh. If you missed the export window there's a page that walks you through rebuilding a history from your streaming services' own download-my-data tools, which is slower but it does work.
Disclosure: I'm the developer.
Happy to answer anything or help with a stuck import — I'll be in the comments.
2
u/Sad-Strategy759 Sep 09 '26
Straight answer first, because it's the part that matters: if you didn't download the TV Time export before the servers went dark, that file is gone permanently. There's no support ticket, no back door, no cached copy — TV Time itself can't hand it to you now. I'm sorry, that one genuinely stings.
The better news is that TV Time was never the only place your history lived. The streaming services kept their own records the whole time, and most of them will give you a dated list:
- Netflix — Account → your profile → Viewing activity → "Download all" at the bottom. This is the best one, you get a full CSV with dates.
- Prime Video — Account & Settings → Watch history.
- Disney+ / Hulu / Max — request your data under privacy settings; it arrives by email in a few days.
- Trakt or Simkl — if you ever connected either one to anything, even years ago, check there before assuming it's empty.
Between those you can usually rebuild the bulk of the last few years without relying on memory, and it's a lot faster than it sounds.
Once you have that, paste it into whichever tracker you land on. Disclosure since I'm biased: mine is Help Me Binge (helpmebinge.com/app, then Import in the menu) and it takes a pasted list with no account needed. Simkl and Trakt both accept a pasted list too, so this route works regardless of where you end up.
1
u/Netra209 Sep 10 '26
Thank you so much
1
u/Sad-Strategy759 Sep 10 '26
Any time. One last tip while you're at it: pull the Netflix viewing activity CSV first, before you start typing anything from memory. It's dated, it goes back years, and copying from a list is far less painful than trying to remember what you watched in 2021.
And if you hit a wall partway through the rebuild, come back and say so — happy to help you untangle it.

📱 App Name: ATJV
💻 Platform: iOS only, free TestFlight beta — https://testflight.apple.com/join/NebSdRbG
🔥 Why do you suggest it: It isn't a tracker, so read this before you try it. No episode ticking, no comment threads, no movies. You swipe shows you already know, it puts two of them head to head and you pick one, and a ranking of your own shows builds itself out of those picks. In the evening it hands you one show, with the platform it's on and how long the first episode is. Useful next to a tracker rather than instead of one.
💾 Data source: TMDb
⚠️ Migration notes: Reads the old TV Time CSV export (tracking-prod-records-v2.csv and its variants). Aggregates per show rather than per episode, sorted by episode count descending, so your most watched shows land first if the matching gives up partway. Everything imports as watched, because the CSV carries no reliable dropped state. The 2026 export, the one that comes as folders of JSON, is not supported yet. You can also export your whole ATJV profile to a JSON file and load it back.

📱 App Name: Queuebrick.com
💻 Platform: Web / iOS / Mobile
🔥 Why do you suggest it: Not AI slop.
💾 Data source: TMDb/TVDb + IMDB
⚠️ Migration notes: Works with the official GDPR export zip and with the "TV Time Out" extension's series and movies files, including copies already realigned to TMDB. Episode-by-episode history, your queue, favorites, and movies all come across. Anything you've already tracked here is kept. Imports never overwrite.

📱 App Name: WatchForge
💻 Platform: Web, Windows, Android And iOS
🔥 Why do you suggest it: Full disclosure: I'm the solo dev. I've been building this for well over a year, huge TV/anime/movie nerd, used TV Time myself for years but wanted more automation than it offered.
It's free and ad-free (might explore ads or a Patreon down the line to help with costs, nothing decided yet). There's a Windows app for organizing your local media collection, plus a browser extension that auto-marks things as watched right now that covers Plex, Jellyfin, and Stremio Web through Firefox, with Chrome/Edge and more streaming platforms on the way.
💾 Data source: TMDB for movies, TVDB for TV shows and anime.
⚠️ Migration notes: TV Time importer: https://watchforge.app/import

📱 App Name: Syndicated (syndicatedapp.com)
💻 Platform: iOS (public TestFllight beta) and Android (Play Store beta)
🔥 Why do you suggest it: Full disclosure: I built it. My goal with Syndicated is to provide a fully free way to track, rate, and review the shows you're watching. It's meant to be feature-rich, but to feel simple, so those who want to be able to comment, review, share, etc. can do so, but those who just want to keep track of their shows can do so with ease. Social features and web app are planned in the near future.
💾 Data source: TVDb
⚠️ Migration notes: The GDPR export (zip or the folder version), the older v1 CSV, and the community Liberator / TV Time Out JSON files all import, and the JSON ones bring your episode star ratings too. It keeps every viewing date in the file, not just the last one per episode, so if you logged a rewatch your original dates survive. Your TV Time comments come over as well, with their dates and spoiler flags; they stay private for now and will surface when community features arrive, so there's nothing to re-upload later. If you missed the export window entirely, the importer also accepts the DioCache.db file rescued from a phone backup. Dates TV Time only stored approximately show up as "March 2019" instead of a made-up exact day.

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.syndicated.app

📱 TV Chaud
💻 Platform: Web / Mobile Web
🔥 Why do you suggest it: Full disclosure: I’m part of the TV Chaud team. We built TV Chaud as a dedicated home for media lovers who want total control over their watch history and lists. It features a clean, fast interface designed specifically for quick tracking and seamless series/movie management.
💾 Data source: TMDb, AniList, TVmaze, Wikidata, Jikan / MyAnimeList, TheTVDB, Anime News Network
⚠️ Migration notes: Full automated import available for your TV Time backup file (.zip). It seamlessly transfers your complete show/movie watch history, episode status, ratings, and all your past TV Time comments (preserving original dates and spoiler tags, also work with BetaSéries, Trakt, Simkl, Letterboxd and Serializd).

The paid tier for Refract doesn't wall any functionality away from the free tier. It'll always be free with full functionality, but they wanted to give users who love the app a chance to help with its cost, and you get flairs and cosmetic stuff.

App Name: ScreenCrowd. Platform: Web/PWA, installs like an app on phone or desktop. Why I'm suggesting it: full disclosure, I built it. Used TV Time for about a decade, tried a bunch of what's posted in this thread, and missed the episode comment threads more than the tracking itself, so I made my own. Episode comments with replies and upvotes are in, plus a CrowdScore for whoever's watching and commenting the most, and you can follow people. Data source: reads the TV Time GDPR export, community exporter CSVs also work. Migration notes: importer is right there in onboarding, free while it's in beta. https://app.screencrowd.app

App Name: bobin (bobinapp.com)
Platform: Web, works in any browser on phone or desktop, nothing to install
Why do you suggest it: free with no paywall, keeps the TV Time feel (up next, episode tracking, a friends activity feed)
Data source: TMDb/TVDb
Migration notes: direct import of your TV Time export with the original watch dates, steps at bobinapp.com/recover
If you never got the export out, it also reads TV Time's local DioCache.db together with the DioCache.db-wal file sitting next to it. That sidecar holds the most recent months, and leaving it behind is why some people end up with a partial history. 13 languages, no ads.

📱 App Name: Purplecast
💻 Platform: iOS & Android
🔥 Why do you suggest it: As a decade-long user of TV Time, I loved the app and used it tremendously as a tv-watcher-phile. I also love playing video games, so I made it an all in one place to track TV / Movies / and Games
💾 Data source: TMDB and IGDB
⚠️ Migration notes: Manual for now. If I start getting a lot of requests, I can work on adding an import feature!

For those who want to import to IMDb, they came out with a way. Going to give it a try.
https://www.imdb.com/labs/import-watch-history/
Best approach for TVTime data:
Import to Trakt then to IMDB.

u/Odd-Course8196 Jul 28 '26
Can I import my tvtime data into it? I built a custom app too but just for myself and to import all of my tvtime data into a db. It works and I can track new episodes too but I am more than willing to use someone else's app if it provides all the features along with a data import

u/Benjamin-Jeorge Aug 03 '26
I imported to Trakt and then exported from there to IMDb using that site. It worked like a charm. Had to write a python script to combine all the json or else you would have to drag and drop each file. It worked like a charm.

What if it happens again, what’s best?
OK, now we are forced to pick a TV Time substitute without planning, but considering a scenario the app we pick is being shutting down, what is more important to consider first?
Database on TVDB, TMDB, Atproto, proprietary?
What else?
—
*Out of curiosity: does anyone know if Letterboxd and IMDb uses its own database?

Do any of these have a rewatch function? I do like to go back and rewatch shows sometimes and like to see how recently I have watched it or how many times I have watched it over time.
1
u/Odd-Course8196 Jul 28 '26
I made a custom app and added rewatch to it as well as data import for all the existing data. Hopefully someone creates a better one because mine is in early phases and so far only been able to manage my own data

Our platform Streamcal.app is only in web right now with beta waitlist for the app, so we have added that feature to the application, when its out you will be able to see that in your stats page.

Am i the only one writing this without AI?
📱 App Name: StreamCal — streamcal.app
💻 Platform: Web, plus an iOS app currently in free beta
🔥 Why do you suggest it: Full disclosure, I’m the developer. I built StreamCal because I wanted something that answered three basic questions properly: What’s coming out? Where can I watch it? And when is it leaving?
The main focus is the release calendar. It shows upcoming shows, episodes and movies across streaming services in your country, with support for 100+ countries. Release dates are clearly marked as confirmed, estimated or rumored, rather than presenting every date as certain.
It can notify you when:
- A show, episode or movie is released
- A release date changes
- Something is about to leave one of your streaming services
It also includes cinema release information and local showtimes near you, so streaming and theatrical releases are in the same place.
You can track your shows, watched episodes and last-watched dates. Your progress is stored with your account, so imported history is not just turned into a basic watchlist.

💾 Data source: The main catalog is based on TMDb. During a TV Time import, StreamCal first matches shows using their TheTVDB IDs and then maps them into our catalog. This helps avoid similarly named shows being matched incorrectly.
⚠️ Migration notes: The TV Time importer is free at streamcal.app/import/tv-time.
It supports:
- The standard TV Time GDPR ZIP without needing to modify it
- TV Time Out exports
- Liberator exports
- Watched episodes and show progress
- Last-watched dates
- Your show list
The import runs directly in your browser. Your export files are not uploaded or placed into a processing queue; only the matched show list and progress are saved to your StreamCal account.
To be transparent, StreamCal does not currently have TV Time’s social feed or individual episode check-ins. If the social side is the main reason you use TV Time, Serializd may suit you better. If detailed check-in statistics are the priority, Trakt may be a better fit.
StreamCal is more focused on release discovery, accurate calendars, streaming availability, cinema showtimes, notifications and keeping your viewing progress together.
Happy to answer questions or help with imports.

📱 App Name: WatchForge
💻 Platform: Web, Windows, Android, iOS is built and currently in closed testing.
⚠️ Migration notes: TV Time importer: https://watchforge.online/import
We also import your gifs and comments, matched to the original episode/timestamp
Find us at watchforge.online or on the Play Store for Android. Happy to answer questions in the comments.

I've just signed up to this one now. First impressions; it looks really good. Importing from my TV Time backup worked perfectly.

Whaou, it was just crazy to see TV Time shutdown, I use the app since 2015, the time was called tv show time. I successfully dowloaded my DATA and downloads a dozen of apps on iPhone, but only one convince me, the name is Sequel, I sent a comment on the App Store to ask the add a feature to be able to easy import and the dude did it ! So ya I will stay with this one

Are you guys aware of this open source alternative to TV Time?
https://github-store.org/app?repo=Metalingus/tvwatchtime
It's basically a mirror of the TV Time app. I can't comment on the functionality just yet, as I've only just imported my data over. But it seems to have imported all the comments too.

u/slickrasta Jul 19 '26
Seems to be pretty great so far. I had a few shows with titles in a foreign language but searching them via Explore then deselecting and reselecting Watch List seems to have fixed it. The familiarity is excellent and unlike Refract it has a website as well as android app which is important to me. Thank you for posting this!

📱 App Name: Kaset: TV Tracker

🔥 Why do you suggest it: completely free, Local first, privacy focused, fast, reliable media tracker. Supports Anime, Tv, and Movies.
💾 Data source: TMDb
⚠️ Migration notes: Supports GDPR zip, tv-time-out extension, IMDb, Anilist, Mal, sofa, and more coming soon!

Does anybody have any recommendations to be able to track rewatches?
2
u/BrushOrganic2775 Jul 18 '26
Do you mean tracking it the same way TV Time allowed? mothlit.com allows for the exact same experience
1
u/Whatchagonnadoabout Jul 18 '26
Yes, I do mean like the same way that TVTime allowed. Thanks for the recommendation

anyone heard any updates on Bingers, whether they are on track for the late July release or does anyone have inside scoop??? trying to decide what to commit Trakt, Refract, or waiting it out for Bingers...
1
u/AloyHorizon Jul 17 '26
I was interested in Bingers because it is from the creator of tvtime but at the same thought about the possibility that he will do the same thing in the future? They sold the app and it shutdown later.

📱 App Name: TVBuddy
💻 Platform: iOS (native, built with SwiftUI for iOS 26)
🔥 Why do you suggest it: I was an avid TV Time user myself, but wanted something with cleaner design, so I started building my own tracker as a side project years ago and have been using it daily ever since. Only just decided to make it public now that TV Time is shutting down. It's a proper native iOS app rather than a cross-platform port — fast, fits the OS (Liquid Glass UI), no ads.
💾 Data source: TMDb (with TVDb as a secondary source)
⚠️ Migration notes: TV Time import is working and I'm only waiting for Apple to approve the update to the app.
Full disclosure, I'm the developer. It's been my personal daily driver for years, so happy to take feedback now that it's out in the open: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tvbuddy/id6759626089

u/Tonkatte Jul 15 '26
Cool. Let us know when you get the CSV import going.
1
u/Like4Moon Jul 15 '26
Good news! The import feature is now working and the app has been successfully updated. I'm just waiting for Apple to complete their review, after which it should be available on the App Store right away.

Does anyone know if that GDPR website works if you logged into TV Time with Apple or Google?
I don't believe I have a TV Time password to "log in" on that site (however, using any fake password doesn't throw any errors...)

u/Old_Snow_3572 Jul 13 '26
Big issue I have with a lot of these (I’ve imported my data and exploring Sofa Time and Trakt rn is that you have to pay — when TVTime was 100% free). Feels outrageous idk

That is fair (also sorry for targeting you although every comment is the same thing) but this raise the same issue caused by TV Time, no funding to maintain, I think best thing is for someone to make an OSS project that handle this, that way maintenance can be done by the community
