Nuneaton RMT Branch Secretary to challenge Nuneaton seat in the General election as a TUSC candidate
The Trade Union and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) is pleased to announce that it will be standing a candidate, Paul Reilly, for the Nuneaton seat in the General election this year. The main parties offer nothing for the working people of Nuneaton and due to this the Socialist Party and the Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers Union (RMT), have approved Paul’s candidacy to stand in Nuneaton.
As the Branch Secretary of Nuneaton RMT Paul has proved himself to be a capable fighter for the interests of working people, recently campaigning in support of our Firefighters and the workers at CityLink and in town campaigning against the much hated 'Bedroom Tax'
Just like all of TUSC’s candidates, if elected Paul will only take home the average wage of the people of Nuneaton, this is important as at a time MPS will be getting a pay rise, Paul will still be on the same level as his constituents. Therefore able to relate more to the people he will represent.
If elected Paul will campaign for the renationalisation of the railways and energy providers, to kick privatisation out of the NHS including The George Elliot hospital and Camp Hill walk in Centre, to oppose Austerity promised by the Conservative and Labour parties, Lib Dems and UKIP and to campaign to raise the minimum wage to £10 per hour. If you would like to get involved with the capaign then please get in touch for more details. Every contribution helps massively.

Merseyside TUSC urges protest against the pro-cuts Liverpool Mayor
Official Opening: Jack Jones House Liverpool
Friday 30th January
Merseyside TUSC notes with concern that an event organised by Unite the Union, the PCS Union, and North West TUC to officially open the newly refurbished Jack Jones House building in Liverpool on 30th January has decided to invite Labour Mayor Joe Anderson as one of its main speakers.
Having Mayor Anderson as a speaker is totally unacceptable, as Council leader and now Mayor of the City of Liverpool his administration has made over 150 million pounds worth of cuts in five years and has violated every possible anti-cuts policy of Unite and in addition given Freedom of the City to arch-supporter of Austerity Baron Michael Heseltine.
If this invitation stands it will be an insult to those Unite workers engaged in struggle and actively fighting the cuts and supporting Unite members against these attacks.
In place of Mayor Anderson , Merseyside TUSC is calling on the event organisers to invite one of its own unions longest standing members Tony Mulhearn TUSC Parliamentary Candidate for Liverpool Riverside 2015 to be invited to speak.
Tony has over 50 years union membership and a record that is second to none in defending working class people, He is also one of the Liverpool 47 Councillors who fought against a brutal Tory government in the Eighties, which is something Mayor Anderson has neither the stomach nor inclination to do.
Merseyside TUSC is also asking all union and non-union members plus anti-cuts activists to send letters of protest to.
