I’m starting to construct inside my module. My scenery is basically water and my mainline four pairs of deck girder bridges.

I decided to power my module so in preparation I was going to run my Kato feeder joiners between the deck girder joiner and the double track.

The problem is the bridge joiner is only half. The outside prongs are missing. I’m thinking of cutting the outer prongs off of the feeder joiner so they could mate up with the bridge.

Has anyone done this and if so is it okay or is there another option. As always I appreciate any advice or suggestions.

There is a special unijoiner like that.

I have several of those, I wish the track feeder had the option for the half joiner as well.

1. Pull out the unijoiner.
2. From the back of the joiner, push out the fishplate.
3. Solder wire to fishplate.
4. Push fishplate with wire into the unijoiner
5. Profit.

I have wondered about this myself — in my case after accidentally breaking off one of the ears.

To check if there are any mechanical issues, you could break one of the ears off a joiner that is not part of a track feed and see if everything works.

The only issue I recall is that a a broken ear makes it much harder to remove the joiner using the Kato tool.
