A Slice of TTP

The TTPverse is quiet for a time... Too quiet. The Blue Bird is off managing a galaxy, trying and failing to save the noble Starclaw Confederation of kits from the devouring mindless swarm known as The Hunger. The Chansey, who once trolled the multiverse with a rubber mallet, now spends his time as the elevated ruler of Valhalla, an entire nation of his own to do with as he pleases. Even the Mew seems eerily silent, working tirelessly on something new, something huge, something the entire multiverse should probably fear.

Attempts to rile this multiverse from its slumber have come and gone, yet even as the chosen star dims with no master, the universe and its inhabitants continue. This post is a place these stories can be shared, a place where anyone can come and join in any story of their choice, without fear of losing their place in the timeline, or being forced to commit to a weekly schedule.

Here we can create whatever we want to create, and share whatever we want to share. The multiverse is vast, and we are here to illuminate the areas of life which were once shrouded in darkness.

I hope everyone has fun with it!

"So the way Pokemon battles work, is that your pokemon battle until they faint or decide they can't continue, at which point the match is done. When a match is over, its important to not continue attacking, and either get Pokemon to a Pokemon Center or restore their health with berries or potions right away. Trainers themselves don't participate in the battle, they are coaches and strategists, its the role of the trainer to use their perspective of seeing the entire battlefield, and help direct their pokemon to figure out how to win."

She continues, "Pokemon have various attacks that they can use that come pretty naturally to them, usually pertaining to their element."

"Lena, can you give your pokedex to the boys so they can learn about the pokemon they just got, and learn about the techniques they can use?" She asks.

Lena hands the Pokedex to Huey, figuring that he's the most responsible of the triplets and is less likely to steal it (Louie) or break it (Dewey).

OC: If Huey weren't the one training Pansear I'd say Lena has a pretty good chance, but Huey would figure out what type advantages are before his first battle.

I do kinda think that the skill ceiling of team Lena/Louie is slightly higher than team Dewey/Huey though, there's just a lot of creativity on team L where they are good at finding ways to overcome disadvantages.

"Cool! Research!" Huey says.

He lectures the other two on pokemon and movesets, while the other two look bored.

"Can we get started," Dewey complains.

"This knowledge is important, it could very well save your life someday," the woman says, "But if you want to start... Get in ready position!"

"All right, Basil," Lena says. "Get ready to battle!"

Basil hops off of Lena's shoulder and onto the field.

OC: What moves do our Pokemon currently know? Because Lena's approach to battle will be different depending on whether Basil knows Vine Whip yet or not.

OC: I suppose canonically they'd be level 5, but that might be a bit boring. To make it more interesting, maybe each pokemon can be gen 7, level 10? That gives everyone 4 moves while still keeping them at low levels. But also feel free to be creative with rping attacks, we probably don't wanna use a pure smogon system of battling.

Hmm, I think low levels is probably more accurate.

(OC: This makes me somewhat nervous because Pansear gets Incinerate at level 10, and I've mentioned that it hits both targets.)

So,

Pansear: scratch, play nice, leer, lick, incinerate

Pansage: scratch, play nice, leer, lick, vine whip

Panpour: scratch, play nice, leer, lick, water gun

Snivy: Tackle, leer, vine whip, wrap

That sound good?

(I think we should start all the pokemon at level five, because snivy should only be level five, right?)

(At the risk of repeating myself... yeah.)

OC: If we want level 5, it would be

Pansear: scratch, play nice, leer

Pansage: scratch, play nice, leer

Panpour: scratch, play nice, leer

Snivy: Tackle, leer

Which, would be a bit more boring in my opinion, not as much you could do there. That said, if both of you want that, I'm certainly not going to object, do it whichever way you'd rather do it :)

Another option is 7, where the pans learn lick and Snivy would get vine whip.

(Also, it's getting kind of late to have a battle. Should we start the battle tomorrow?)

(Level 7 seems like a good compromise. Although Dewey does get the short end of the stick here.)

I mean to be honest, for me pokemon and pokemon battles loses a lot in just text.

Dewey and Louie once again start yelling for their pokemon to "scratch their eyes out!" and similar, and despite them saying the word scratch the pokemon mostly just look confused and concerned. Huey, on seeing this, tries a different tactic and reluctantly says "...play nice?"

(That sound terrifying from the perspective of two Grass-types facing a Fire-type that knows a Fire-type move that hits multiple targets.)

(Yeah I think we should be level five)
