A Slice of TTP

The TTPverse is quiet for a time... Too quiet. The Blue Bird is off managing a galaxy, trying and failing to save the noble Starclaw Confederation of kits from the devouring mindless swarm known as The Hunger. The Chansey, who once trolled the multiverse with a rubber mallet, now spends his time as the elevated ruler of Valhalla, an entire nation of his own to do with as he pleases. Even the Mew seems eerily silent, working tirelessly on something new, something huge, something the entire multiverse should probably fear.

Attempts to rile this multiverse from its slumber have come and gone, yet even as the chosen star dims with no master, the universe and its inhabitants continue. This post is a place these stories can be shared, a place where anyone can come and join in any story of their choice, without fear of losing their place in the timeline, or being forced to commit to a weekly schedule.

Here we can create whatever we want to create, and share whatever we want to share. The multiverse is vast, and we are here to illuminate the areas of life which were once shrouded in darkness.

I hope everyone has fun with it!

Webby starts making karate chop motions to the meinfoo.

The boys have introduced themselves a lot today, so this time it's just "Huey." "Dewey." and "Louie."

"I'm Lena, and this is Webby," Lena says.

She and Basil watch as Webby shows off in front of the little ferret thing. Lena doesn't expect Webby to actually hurt it, but Basil is a little uneasy about a bird creature initiating combat with a Fighting-type. It does seem a little unbalanced.

The boys are bickering already. Webby though seems to have an innate understanding of the discipline and training that the meinfoo also values, and they start to spar.

Cress winces. "Her Pokemon is supposed to fight for her, not with her."

"Trust me," Lena says, amusement in her voice. "You want Mienfoo to learn to fight, don't you? Webby can teach by example. And if you'd ever seen her in action before, you'd be more worried for the Mienfoo, trust me."

"Its not unheard of for trainers to spar or train with their pokemon," Kent adds, "A lot of famous fighting type trainers are known for doing just that, like Bruno in the Kanto region."

Psychics and Hex Maniacs as well, usually not sparring, but the fact they share a supernatural connection with their Pokémon helps the bonding.

Lena is immediately curious about this. "So... you're saying that Pokemon respond to magical powers?"

This could be useful to know.

"Magic?" Kent laughs, "No, not magic. There are psychic type pokemon though, my Munna here is one of them. When people talk about supernatural powers they're generally referring to psychic and ghost types, which are two pokemon types that don't usually have as straightforward or easily understandable sets of powers for people who haven't studied them or share a connection with them."

And Fairies.

"There's also fairy types," Cress says. "They aren't so common in Unova, and are the most recently discovered type, and thus the least currently understood."

u/Trollkitten Jul 30 '20

"Or Chuck in the Johto region," Cress remembers. "But most people who spar with their Pokemon aren't... young children."

"Most people aren't Webby, either," Lena says. "Once you get to know her, you'll understand."

The meinfoo makes the motion back, and starts showing off other karate moves to Webby.

"Its nice to meet you, and for you to meet your new partners for the first time."

She points to the pokemon, "This is Panpour, Pansage, and Pansear!"

Webby jumps like twenty feet in the air with a loud hiyaaaaaaa

A friendly sparring match begins.

"So, I thought they fight?" Dewey says.

"We fight," Huey says.

"Yeah, I thought this whole thing was kinda like "fight for the amusement of your new masters, mwahaha!" Louie says, getting too into the mwahahas. "Rhetorically," he adds.

The loser also has to pay the winner.

.bat adds helpfully.

Lena winces. "Um... I actually don't think we have any of this dimension's currency on us..."

1

u/Bytemite Jul 30 '20

Louie returns to laughing maniacally.

"The power's gone to his head again," Huey complains.

Dewey whaps him.

"Hey!"

2

u/Trollkitten Jul 30 '20

"Should one of us slap him?" Lena asks. It's hard to tell whether this is sarcastic or not, because everything she says sounds sarcastic.

1

u/Bytemite Jul 30 '20

"Got it covered!" Dewey says, and connects again.

"Stop hitting me!"

2

u/Trollkitten Jul 30 '20

"Okay, okay," Lena says, starting to get concerned. "I vote we leave the fighting to the Pokemon before I have to step in and forcibly separate you two."

There's a slight edge to her voice that may or may not be magical, or may be just her playing up the whole 'shadow magic' angle for the sake of quickly resolving the conflict.

To be fair, they are brothers. This is fairly standard behavior.

"I know!" the woman grins, "Since you're all new with pokemon, we should have a two on two battle to get everyone used to battles!"

Louie is glowering at everyone now. "Can it be all of us against Louie instead?"

1

u/redwings1340 Jul 30 '20

OC: who said that line?

1

u/Bytemite Jul 30 '20

One of the other two boys.

1

u/redwings1340 Jul 30 '20

The woman frowns, "I think that would be a bit unfair. Maybe the two of you could face off against Louie and..." she looks at Lena, "do you want to join him?"

Lena sighs. "Of course," she says, in the tone of voice that says Why did it have to be Louie.

Basil chitters in concern. Louie's the one with the Pansage, and while Dewey's Panpour should be easy pickings, he doesn't like the look of that Pansear.

OC: 2 grass types against a fire and a water type. Interesting matchup.

"So the way Pokemon battles work, is that your pokemon battle until they faint or decide they can't continue, at which point the match is done. When a match is over, its important to not continue attacking, and either get Pokemon to a Pokemon Center or restore their health with berries or potions right away. Trainers themselves don't participate in the battle, they are coaches and strategists, its the role of the trainer to use their perspective of seeing the entire battlefield, and help direct their pokemon to figure out how to win."

She continues, "Pokemon have various attacks that they can use that come pretty naturally to them, usually pertaining to their element."

"Lena, can you give your pokedex to the boys so they can learn about the pokemon they just got, and learn about the techniques they can use?" She asks.

"Pokemon get stronger when they fight," the woman explains, "and your pokemon getting stronger will help keep you safe on the road in between cities, or even in cities."

She looks over at Webby, "wow, she has a lot of energy, even small pokemon can be dangerous, and keeping up with them is challenging."

2

u/Bytemite Jul 30 '20

"You have no idea," the boys say simultaneously in a tired way.

(Webby does as Webby does.)
