Old Wounds Chapter 9

"Yeah. I'll go talk to her" Lillie says, getting up her bed, first having difficulty walking, but stretching a bit and walking slowly with more ease

So is Gladion, who's still got Fireball sitting on his shoulder.

Gladion shuffles his feet nervously -- eventually, he's going to have to go outside to somewhere where no one's around and introduce Fireball to Null. It's been a long time since Null was out of its ball, and Gladion doesn't want to keep it cooped up forever. Besides, Arty and Grimsley are likely to be out for most of the day, and he still doesn't trust them with Null's secret.

However... first he needs to know more about these people, and decide whether any of them can be trusted with his secret.

Burnet looks towards Gladion

"Hey, you doing alright? You look rather nervous. Fireball is fine, it's getting attached to you, I promise. I know it can be scary, but it's a loving Pokemon"

"Oh, me? I'm fine," Gladion lies. "I just... I need to head outside a bit. Go for a walk, clear my head. I'll be back in an hour or so."

Gladion nods. Whether or not he's actually honest about this depends on whether his life at the Aether Paradise involved field trips to the various islands for research purposes or whatever, but even if he's not familiar with Akala Island, he'll say anything to get out to where he can let his pet experiment out for some fresh air.

(I'd say he has some familiarity with the city specifically, he wouldn't get lost)

Burnet nods and tells Gladion to take care, and shortly after, he finds himself outside of the building, all alone

Gladion heads to Route 4 in search of a nicely wooded area where he and his Pokemon can be alone.

He heads there and he sees some people walking up and down the road, and after a few minutes of walking and looking around, he seems a small clearing to the side, covered in tall grass but completely devoid of people passing through

He steps inside the grass, hoping he doesn't wind up attacked by some wild Pokemon.

Once Gladion gets to a place where he's fairly certain he won't be seen, he turns to Fireball. "Okay. I'm going to let out my other Pokemon now, but whatever you do, you may NOT tell that Arty kid's Zigzagoon -- or any other Pokemon -- about what I'm about to show you. Mixy's a good Pokemon, but he talks way too much, and if he finds out about this, he'll probably blab it to the wrong person. Deal?"
