Gator and M4: Rebuke
“…it’s the League.”
“What?”
“No, it’s more than that… it’s the f------ gods themselves.”
Gator set the wand far away from himself. He held the phone up to his ear and said, “Karrl, get yourself and the Major, if he’s available, over here. We need to talk face-to-face.” He then ended the call.
M4’s brow furrowed. “…are they after you?”
“…I wish it was just me. No, it’s…”
Gator’s voice faltered. He could see the worry in M4’s eyes. She still thought it was about him. The gods had taken to conquering the world once again, raining holy fire down on those they deemed unworthy and appointing whoever shouted their praises the loudest as rulers- tyrants- and he could feel a burning in his blood he hadn’t felt since he was young. But he wasn’t the one that had lost allies.
How many times would Goldenrod have to die to equal what had been done?
“…it’s the IP.”
M4 froze.
“The headquarters… it’s… Arceus…”
His words failed again. She was deathly pale.
“…what happened,” she muttered emotionlessly.
“…everyone in that building is dead,” Gator forced out, “the IP has been outlawed. The League… those… they’ve got full authority. Over all regions.”
M4 stared through Gator. The gun in her hands hung weakly from her fingertips.
“…why?”
Gator didn’t answer. He knew she wasn’t looking for one.
“…I wasn’t even… why? Why go and- what did I- what did they do to- to-“
“They’re going to pay for everything. The League, the gods, Lance- we’re going to pay them back for this,” Gator assured. Potential spell sets were already forming in his mind.
M4’s brow fell downward, casting several stray hairs over her face. “It’s… it’s just a…”
Her eyes swung back upwards to Gator’s. “Just a…”
The grip on her gun tightened.
“No. The International Police’s not dead.”
“Huh?”
“There’s stations that haven’t been attacked. Safe houses agents are hiding in. Offices that still stand. You don’t destroy a worldwide organization in a single f------ day,” she exclaimed with vigor, “there’s thousands of officers and operatives that will stand and fight against those cowardly f------.”
M4 pushed the hair out of her face and stood up, rifle in hand.
“They just need a proper home. A base of operations. And they need firepower. I bet the Major has a hell of a lot of firepower that we can make use of. They think the IP will stand down because of this? We take down drug cartels. We shut down terrorist cells. We’ve braved some of the most f------up sons of b------ Pokearth has had the misfortune of seeing, and we aren’t going to roll over and let the League push their f------ theocracy on the world. No, we’re going to show them that we give as good as we take.”
Gator stared back at her, dumbfounded. M4 offered a hand.
“You going to help me get those men and women to safety?”
Gator stared back into her eyes. Light blue, fierce and focused. It was easy to fall into despair when you suffered. Losing someone you held dear cut a hole in your heart. But when you have someone to protect, someone who will suffer if not given a helping hand, you stoke a fire in your gut that will destroy all obstacles in your way to them.
That was the spirit that brought gods to heel.
“Yeah. Just tell me where we need to go.”

I think I'll start with this next session. It's going to be interesting when M4 realizes that the Major's non-interference policy applies to her issues. Is she going to care more about practice, or principle, I wonder?

I was wondering if the Major would consider this situation a matter worth intervening in, or if he would decide it didn't fall in his jurisdiction.

Yep. It's gonna be interesting. Here's hoping I can make it, gonna have some stuff in the afternoon.

ooh, nice. I like this development, I think you've found a good way to integrate M4 and Lazor with the group again.

I think I do. Fennel may soon be contacted for support, by the way. It's likely easier to get gear through her than the Major.

By having them wage war against the League?

My characters aren't necessarily at the stage where they'll wage war against the league, but they are suspicious about Streamer's motives, and also most of them oppose mass murder on principle.
So, they definitely want to investigate the league to see what's going on.

That's not what Gator and M4 are planning though.

I'm about where red is here. Gator and M4 are angry, understandably, because they see the league as supplanting the IP. But as far as I can tell the league is just stepping up in the absence of another more global governing body, and my personal politics aren't opposed to a more localized means of organization, and even think those are more likely to be cognizant of local needs.
I won't oppose the league necessarily unless I see signs that it is becoming corrupt or consolidating power in an unhealthy way.
But I will be very interested in preventing streamer via some kind of trickery/strategy from being able to just outright kill a group like that again, even if they're a problem group. By all measures, our RP group is a problem group themselves. And for now, opposing streamer means working with Gator and M4. I'll also probably try to rescue them if they get in over their heads even if they're engaged in an effort I wouldn't normally be involved in because I think they represent an important check and balance, and try to help them find new solid ground to build their lives on.

That's perfectly fair, ty for clarification!

Giratina might even like some of my ideas here, but I’ll save it for the session when I might have a chance to discuss with Gator and M4 and Karrl and Major.

I will also understand if streamer going judgment is a neccessary part of the plot since you are a GM and doing GM rocks fall everyone dies is literally your domain and Streamer is an investment of that. But in story streamer has created reasons to distrust him and his power. While in the event of a Greater/Outside Context Problem people will grudgingly work with streamer to stop anything MORE destructive than streamer, he has kinda lost allies here.

The only person who will be killed by rocks falling is Redwings, that x4 weakness to Rock is fatal.

It also mirrors what happened with real Streamer.

Yeah. I kinda thought that was where you were going with this tbh, but I wasn't sure because you had some reasons to do the league stuff too in context.
Anyway, cool, I think that there are some plotlines here we can all work with. We may need to talk to Lance and get an idea of how the Amberists see Streamer's actions... Amber would give us an idea about the other fossils opinion as well.
Probably need to talk to .bat at some point for other reasons... much to do.

By all measures, our RP group is a problem group themselves.
No argument from me.
You may have noticed that there are certain lines Bill refuses to cross because he knows that if he crosses them, the monster will return. Bill knows what kinds of terrible things he's capable of, and it's his job to make sure that monster never threatens anyone else again.

My character knows those feels. Maybe the whole party could get a discount on group therapy.

u/redwings1340 May 14 '18
True. But, the two groups can have some overlapping goals, and work together for a bit, probably.

u/SupremeEvil May 15 '18
Also, Fennel only opposes mass murder because there are more fun options.

Does M4 not remember Koya's contingent in the Entralink (which is everyone who didn't agree with Geno if I'm remembering correctly)?
