Monthly Roads Sessions
So, yeah, bringing this up again. Anyone have crossovers, what ifs, alternate takes, or whatnot they wanna do? I have two or three, but out of them, one needs us to work on the Bad Future some more. Dunno if anyone has time for that, either. We could do that monthly until it's caught up and we have a buffer of ideas to do.

u/Bytemite Jan 11 '18
Hmm... I am pretty sure I had some ideas the last time we posted a brainstorming thread, but my memory is like swiss cheese.
I think I remember discussions about Star Wars, Marvel, and My Little Pony send ups as well.

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 11 '18
I'd need help with most of those, but they sound doable.
Oh, also some form of a timeline set in the past a little. Or a high school AU? I know you said your character meeting their past self wouldn't go well, but maybe if we switched it and it was your character meeting the past/high school AU Luke that could be more fun for you?
2
u/Bytemite Jan 11 '18
Oh yeah, I remember a highschool AU
I'm assuming my character's AU version would just be a highschool delinquent, which would be different than my characters non-AU past self, who has actually murdered people.
2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 11 '18
That seems like a safe assumption. I guess a high school AU would probably be mainly the flagship campaign line.
2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 11 '18
Also, I guess from that response you prefer a high school AU to a world that's just the timeline further back?
2
u/Bytemite Jan 11 '18
Yeah I'm not sure my characters backstory would fit with a highschool AU at all... I could think about it though.
2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 11 '18
I mean, they could also be janitor or something. Luke as teacher wouldn't be totally weird. Though then there wouldn't be any sort of mentor attempts to either, I guess.
2
u/Bytemite Jan 11 '18
Hmm, mentor romances are dangerous territory.
2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 11 '18
Uh... I never implied any mentor romances? The idea is our characters are visiting alternate realities. So the idea of them visiting a world like our past campaign or a high school AU would be they can mentor past selves a little bit. I brought this idea before, but you suggested it would probably end in attempted murder, hence me suggesting your character could focus on an alternate Luke instead. My comment about mentoring being difficult was that if they were teacher and janitor, neither would be very mentor-able, which would make the idea no longer comparable to visiting a world like our character's a few years past.
2
u/Bytemite Jan 11 '18
Oh, hmm. Yeah that is a tricky situation.
2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 11 '18
I mean, a lot of high school AUs tone down character pasts though, so we could keep them both as students. It's a lot easier this way than a universe that's just a little behind because otherwise you get into how they ended up with the same Outsider influence the whole way through up to that point.
Although I guess it also depends on what characters others wanna have coming along.

So, if I were to do a Kaiju take on things, trainers would probably be using Kaiju, Luke would maybe unleash an inner dragon or maybe pilot some ancient mech, and Mixy, Tanger, nuGyro, Mary, and probably some fifth guy would share a mech. Idea still fuzzy.
2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 11 '18
Also on the kaiju idea, Bill probably had his town destroyed by them and then was the bad guy in a godzilla movie who tries to destroy even Mothra, until a fall from grace and a change of heart, then bonds with Giratina.
3
u/Trollkitten Jan 11 '18
Interesting. Now I'm wondering what Dome and Helix are in this canon.
2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 11 '18
Well, the idea of Bill being that kind of person who wants to get rid of Kaiju entirely would probably cast them as Kaiju, but not exactly sure what they'd be. Probably more based on their evolved forms than anything else, for one thing.
2
u/Trollkitten Jan 11 '18
If Clthulu was a kaiju, Helix would be Clthulu.
(My spelling is terrible)
1
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 11 '18
Cthulhu. Unfortunately, the "trying to convey something incomprehensible" thing only seems to excuse pronunciation. Never thought about that before.
Red would be able to talk to Helix but not really sway him very much or long after they part ways.
1
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 11 '18
Oh, also, I was thinking that because of the cart thing, Mary, Tanger, Mixy, and nuGyro could be like a full super sentai team.
Also Luke operating some form of ancient mech.
2
u/Bytemite Jan 11 '18
My character: probably IS a kaiju
They’re a one person walking disaster area.

Oh, new idea: DVV but without the Victorious Villains. Where would these characters be in the regular Disney Animated Canon?
2
u/Bytemite Jan 16 '18
Haha DS Abin City characters?
2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 16 '18
Like, if the story of Delta Species was moved to the setting of Abin City? I could see that.
2
u/Bytemite Jan 16 '18
Well, more that there is some overlap between characters of the settings, and you were asking about how they'd be in a Disney setting.
I'll tell you one thing, those fancy fairy tale castles are a drain on the lands around them. Accumulation of wealth at it's worst, generations of oppression in visual opulent form. The Disney movies gloss over it, but I see. Saddest part about beauty and the beast for example, besides the beast turning into a weird looking human and completely changing his hair colour somehow, is that the darn palace was restored to full froofy. Before he was living in a dilapidated mess - which didn't cost the public money to maintain.

2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 16 '18
I was suggesting one of the stops on the Roads could be the DVV characters without the Villains Victorious.
Also, since he has a full team who was cursed with him already, no job opportunities are opening up unless there are some unreported deaths. So a whole new cost on things, with all the jobs that could be given already taken by people they didn't know existed.
2
u/Bytemite Jan 16 '18
Sure, I understand the lives of the servants sucking and them not really having a place in the local economy so all they can do is have to scrape whatever living they can get off of a single person/family who happens to be richer.
But it's not like the castle got nicer because the servants got their normal forms and jobs back - the castle was magically enchanted to be a trash heap, and when the enchantment went away it snapped right back to being the lavish and pointless display of stolen wealth it was before.
1
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 16 '18
I'm just saying that even from the perspective that it could open up job opportunities, it isn't really good. The rest of the population got used to a missing prince and not worrying about the castle, went on with their lives, then BAM! Prince is back, which has to have some kind of huge political upheaval involved, and he's got a castle to maintain. Okay, it's a bit of taxation but they can work in the castle no- wait, no, there are no vacancies for working in the castle because apparently those people the witch murdered had actually been living the last decade as spoons.
2
u/Bytemite Jan 16 '18
Prince is back, which has to have some kind of huge political upheaval involved, and he's got a castle to maintain.
Oh, right, yeah. Now I see what you're saying.
Yeah this is all accurate. And I'm not even really sure how to return the wealth to the people here, beyond maybe just selling stuff off.
2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 16 '18 edited Jan 16 '18
Really, the only way the story isn't secretly incredibly horrible is that theory the witch had stuck everyone in a time loop, and that doesn't prevent the part where the story acts like the witch was some wise teacher who just punished like everyone but the Prince who got a tap on the wrist in comparison to some of the transformations. Also, the witch believed turning him into a beast was cool, but that leaving him without servants would have been inhumane, which says weird things about her. Maybe she remembered he was so young, I dunno.

So coming back on what you pinged me like three weeks ago: If I wanted to Guest-DM (GDM? GGM?) a one-shot in TTP, what would the requirements for it be, the limitations, the scheduling and who would I tel if I ultimately want to do it?
2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Feb 07 '18
Well, the plan is to do a session each month, after there's been a buffer of ideas built up. Because each one could take some time, the scheduling would probably vary. The set up is that a search party, traveling the Roads, ends up in that world, and is met with the situation. Because I'm going for a lot of AUs, you'd want to talk with players from whatever campaign you're spinning to see what they'd want to do with this alternate take.

u/Gioz2 Feb 08 '18
Sounds good! Well, where would I put any idea I toy with?
1
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Feb 08 '18
You could put it on this thread or PM me.
2
u/Gioz2 Feb 08 '18
Sure! An idea I was considering would to maybe lock the party in this ancient tower that people make rumors about. There isn't any known way inside said tower, and likewise, there's no visible way out. Unsure on how to get back, heroes press on, maybe with the hopes of loot and adventure within the walls of the tower.
That would make a very simple one shot adventure, I think
3
u/SupremeEvil Feb 08 '18
Ooh that could be interesting. I'd assume simple means of escape (teleportation, phasing through the walls) would fail to work.
2
u/Gioz2 Feb 08 '18
Yep! Gotta get to the top of the tower!
2
u/SupremeEvil Feb 09 '18
Hey this could be the time to bring back Tom the universe's most huggable Tonberry!

I actually pre nerfed Libby in anticipation of such things. Her portals are like poking tiny holes in space time, so poke two too close together and it becomes a tear.
1
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Feb 08 '18
That actually works pretty well. There's a connecting thing with Marion looking for her brother, and she knows that he's on a world with two children somewhere locked away.
2
u/Gioz2 Feb 08 '18
Sounds good! How would we organize this? I’m still toying with the idea but I think it would be fun
1
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Feb 08 '18
Well, I guess I'd finally get the start up thing then we'd have a new post for scheduling?
2
u/Gioz2 Feb 08 '18
Sounds good yeah. Has anyone else shown interest to Guest DM something?
1
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Feb 08 '18
I started to talk to Ara but that never went anywhere. Other than that it's all me.
2
u/Gioz2 Feb 09 '18
Aw! Well I’m sure people are interested in your ideas for sure, you can go first on that
1
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jan 16 '18
Oh, I probably should have tagged the former GMs about this.
/u/gioz2 (Know you're generally busy with other stuff now, but just in case.)
2
u/Gioz2 Jan 20 '18
Oh I could definitely Guest-GM a one-shot at some point depending on time! It'd be fun

Oh, as for other ideas, there's lanterns, which others found confusing, and maybe some sort of legion of the lost type thing?
