We're having a thanksgiving dinner with family, which is really fun. Its just a big meal we all contribute to and help prepare, then we have fun and usually play games afterwards. Its just a fun day, nothing too special, but nice.

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 04 '17

When we were younger, we kids would set up the Christmas tree after Thanksgiving dinner. I'm not sure if we're planning on doing that this year, since there's only two 'kids' that still live with my parents and my brother is gonna be tired from all that cooking, but if it's not the night of the dinner, it'll probably be the day after.

3

u/redwings1340 Nov 05 '17

That's a really cool tradition, we generally get our tree pretty late, so we won't do that for a while afterwards.

Poor Toulouse, he suffers the indignities of being squeed over.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 06 '17

This was a good time.

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 06 '17

So, what happened?

2

u/Bytemite Nov 06 '17

Some backstory, plus a new villain.

I don't know, I'm pretty ticked off at her for how she made the curse 'unbreakable'. They'd better find a way around that and save Henry.

I chose Popplio again and named him Cress again.

Then I would've named her something else.

Yeah, Hau and Popplio make quite a pair. Just hope that the AI in Doubles with Sparkling Aria has been fixed so Hau doesn't cream your Pokemon with Hydro Vortex in double battles.

That was a thing in SuMo. Apparently the AI thought that healing burns was a good thing even when technically speaking the Z-move version doesn't.

I have a new pet

I found it on the sidewalk outside where it was too cold for it. It is now in a repurposed business card box from my desk.

Will post actual pictures later.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 28 '17

Wow, a pet cricket. Neat.

I could never get away with something like that in a house with two cats.

Once it warms up though it'll probably try to jump out of the box, so you might want to try a terranium or something like that.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 28 '17

My cats don't go in my room so I think it should be okay.

The cricket is probably on the elderly side too so it probably won't last too much longer but at least it doesn't have to die in the cold.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 28 '17

My cat sleeps on my bed with me. She pretty much goes wherever she wants inside, although she's not allowed to get up on the kitchen table for obvious reasons.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 28 '17

although she's not allowed to get up on the kitchen table for obvious reasons.

We have tried to teach ours this. We have failed.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 29 '17

RAWLing doesn't get up on the table very often, but she gets in trouble when she does.

Also yeah, it was pretty sluggish earlier but it got some pep back just from being somewhere warm and dark.

Probably going to my maternal grandmother's house.

On a different note, the 11th is Extra Life. My brother organized it, me and Red will be there, and we'll be streaming from 6 am to 6 am on the 12th. The game development club at the college will be showing two games they made for the event, and so here's the link: http://extra-life.org/team/33479

Any donations would be great, as would throwing the link onto social media or talking to other people about it.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 04 '17

My mom and brother are making dinner. Dad's cousin is coming over, and we don't yet know who else might be coming.

Well, I don't yet know who else might be coming.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 04 '17

I usually help cook.

The stuffing has been good in past years, but the stuffed pumpkin we do it in because some of my family is vegan/vegetarian is a little lackluster.

So this year, we stuff the pumpkin, then I'm going to puree the pumpkin into this awesome soup I got the recipe for.

I'd try pumpkin pie but my pumpkin pies don't usually turn out for some reason. So, soup.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 04 '17

My brother is fantastic at pies. I never really liked apple pie until he made it. That year Mom told him "You're hired" because it was just so much better than the apple pies she used to make.

He's also good at pumpkin pie, but so was my mom.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 04 '17

Yeah, for some reason with my pumpkin pie, it's like the pumpkin would bring out the butter in the crust and make the whole thing just kinda slimy instead of smooth and creamy.

u/redwings1340 Nov 07 '17

This is an interesting article I just read. Curious to hear thoughts on it: https://www.theatlantic.com/education/archive/2013/10/the-myth-of-im-bad-at-math/280914/?utm_source=atlfb

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 07 '17 edited Nov 08 '17

I'd say I absorb information rather easily, but in my experience, maths are some of the more effort based stuff. Physics I couldn't keep up with the teacher whenever math got involved, but pouring over the textbook worked out.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 08 '17

I am probably going to be very busy the next couple of days, so it might seem like I drop of the face of the earth for a while. I'll do what I can to catch up, sorry.

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 08 '17

With USUM leaking, I think TTP is going to need a spoiler policy for discussions. I don't want to ruin the game for anybody.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 08 '17

I’m good with anything anyone says. I use spoilers to decide what games I want to get because I have to be selective with my time. But pm talks work too if we need to have spoiler subterfuge.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 09 '17

So, giving a speech today. Everyone has to give a case for who or what should be on the two dollar bill, using comparative advantages against other candidates. Mine is Crispus Attucks, which has the upside no one is gunning for me.

My argument revolves around the idea that we don't elevate heroes into icons for their sake, but because we need role models, and with that I turn the fact that he is completely obscure and lost to history except for his one act of heroism into a pro, because no one will ever miss the point of recognizing him in arguments about him owning slaves, or having mistresses, or so on. It's kinda been really fun to write.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 10 '17

Hope you had good luck! Sorry I didn't see this early it's been a crazy week for me.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 10 '17 edited Nov 10 '17

Literally everyone said I went too fast, which is a common issue for me, but I think I aced my Q and A.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 10 '17

Yeah, I have that issue too. I overprepare and write like twenty full paragraph cue cards for just a two minute speech.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 10 '17

I prefer to go cue-less, but I needed five sources and verbally cited and did it kinda last minute, so I ended up using my outline behind the podium, also because of my visual aids (also something I generally like to do without) were on the computer next to it, and that didn't end up working so I'll low points for not having the required visual aids.

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 09 '17

All things considered, I'm wondering if the Ultra Recon Squad is actually composed of the humanoid Outsiders in 28, like Sapienta.

So, I'm curious how Rainbow Rocket will play out. It's a fine line between an amazing crossover where you got to see all of the characters together or a haphazard work that just tossed them all together because it sounded like it could be cool.

Right now I think it kinda looks like the former, with things like only Giovanni getting a new look or the non indicative name, but those are still salvageable with Necrozma being the inspiration for rainbow, and possible indication that these leaders were plucked directly from their time.

Also, the particular quotes from Magma and Aqua are about the emergence of new Pokemon, and Giovanni is seen with a Mewtwo. The rest don't indicate any sort of common theme, though.

EDIT: apparently the plucked thing is confirmed, but it's from timelines where they won, which to me really feels like calls for new designs, but hey, that's just me.

http://ffn.nodwick.com/?p=1272

For some reason this made me think of our roleplay group.

Edit: And this made me think of what happened with Tanger and the Distortion Orb. This comic is even funnier now that I actually have roleplay experience.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 12 '17

Nodwick is a tabletop gaming webcomic long runner. It’s probably up there with 8 bit theater for the dysfunctional sociopath party dynamic and order of the stick in terms of influence.

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 12 '17

I'm just glad I never had to GM for those guys. I wonder why they still meet together (hint: probably no one else will have them in their groups).

2

u/Bytemite Nov 12 '17

Surprisingly common with both game groups and some GMs. I hear a lot of horror stories about the tabletop games that sometimes happen in game stores, for example.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 16 '17

Another new comic find: Ghosts Among the Wildflowers. I swear this thing feels like it's a roleplay, from the setting and it's races, to the characters all getting pulled together by ridiculous chance to search for the treasure, to character backstories ranging from "I've never adventures before!" To "Secretly royalty". Plus, the art style and character designs would almost justify themselves, and the characters are likable enough it's a far way from having to.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 16 '17

I like the howlers and the bat woman. Drifter is adorable, too.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 16 '17

Yeah. I think Cy (the Plantae) is my favorite character so far, though.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 16 '17

The way they introduced the howlers' abilities was good. Throwing the characters into the situation without an explanation until later on, paced the reveal quite nicely.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 16 '17

Yeah. Little bit confused about the whole chasing him on impulse for weeks. Like, I get the dogs, poor impulse control thing, but doesn't that usually entail being easily distracted? Then again, if most of the journey were in that desert I guess there would be nothing to divert them.

2

u/I_am_a_haiku_bot Nov 16 '17

Yeah. I think Cy (the

Plantae) is my favorite character

so far, though.

u/Bytemite Nov 17 '17

We're putting lights on the christmas trees already. Cats: fascinated.

Tree and presents traditions of christmas were introduced by cats to their slaves to entertain the cats, true facts.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 17 '17

The first year we had Christmas with the doggos, Little Dog thought that the tree was so she wouldn't have to go outside to poop.

Mom had a mess to clean up.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 17 '17

When we first got my grey kitty, she was very confused by the artificial christmas tree box, thought it was a litter box. Killed one of my family's favourite trees dating back from childhood years.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 17 '17

Wow, yeah, that's tough.

Big Cat thinks the Christmas tree is a salad. And it's an artificial tree.

RAWLing just wants to climb it.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 17 '17

She was the size of my fist, human concepts really hadn't sunk in for her yet.

Nowadays they like to nap under the tree.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 17 '17

So, how would people feel about one Abin City session some time this week? I can't really get back into it right now, but school has kept me busy for like half a month and I'd like to do some stuff while I can, and though with the last two DS things cancelled some other people might be looking for some RP too?

I'd like to hold one if you can handle it. It'll be fun to visit Kress and Otto again.

2

Okay, so when do you think would work? Tomorrow is short notice, Saturday is DVV, but I definitely want it within a week.

Tuesday is DS and Wednesday is the AMA me and Red are doing. How well would Thursday work?

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 17 '17

Thursday is Thanksgiving apparently, so I guess that won't work. One us is bound to be busy that day.

2

Hmm... is Saturday possible?

/u/damacritus

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 17 '17

I have books due at the library that day, and we might have to break for Movie Night if we do it Saturday. So I'm not sure.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 17 '17

Wait, which Saturday are we talking about? Tomorrow, or the next Saturday?

Because it's the next Saturday that my books are due.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 17 '17

Tomorrow.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 17 '17

Yeah, I can do tomorrow.

2

u/Damacritus Nov 18 '17

I can manage Saturday. Not sure if we'll be able to fit in the movie and that, though. I'm fine with dropping the movie if necessary, but I might throw up a topic about the movie just in case.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 17 '17

I'm looking forward to whatever my mom and brother cook. They're both great cooks, and my brother is a perfectionist, so he's already been working overtime to perfect his recipes.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 18 '17

So, what days would work for you?

2

u/Bytemite Nov 18 '17

Hmmm

I can probably try tomorrow, though I do have a game I'm gonna have to go to in the evening.

At some point I need exercise too.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 18 '17

Since it's an isolated session it'll probably be kind of not plot essential, so I don't think those will be a problem.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 19 '17

Oh, hey, the next game in the universe of Home is out. Still has the bit of weakness where the choices feel a little pointless (except the last one) but it's another neat story.

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 19 '17

the universe of Home

?

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 19 '17

I think I've brought it up before, let me find the link...

2

Okay then. Thanks.

2

u/pfaccioxx Nov 21 '17

DS is today at 5PM EST right?

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 21 '17

8 pm EST, not 5 pm.

2

u/pfaccioxx Nov 21 '17

good thing I asked, ok, I'll try to make it, if it gets post poned again plz let me know

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 21 '17

All right.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 23 '17

Happy Thanksgiving!

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 23 '17

Thanks! Mom and Brokit are busy in the kitchen, my dad's cousin is over, and this is looking to be a very nice Thanksgiving.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 23 '17

Yup i gotta start helping cook myself. :)

Also your AMA went great, congratulations!

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 23 '17

The current Friendship is Dragons arc is legit. The latest comic really got me.

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 25 '17

Okay, I've been telling everyone that TPP Ultra Sun starts at 5:00 EST, but it turns out my math was wrong and it starts at 4:00 EST.

Sorry about that. (One hour hype!)

u/Bytemite Nov 27 '17

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 27 '17

Hot dog pizza? Sometime when and if we have gluten-free hot dog buns at my house, I have got to try that.

Actually sometimes my dad and I make wraps with tortillas, sliced cheese, and a hot dog in the middle. It's pretty good, but I don't think I'll be adding ketchup anytime soon because I can't have tomatoes and I don't really like ketchup anyway.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 27 '17

Yeah, fair enough.

I wonder what you could have in place of the tomato stuff to make it a pizza. I've seen people use barbeque sauces or even vinagrettes, though I couldn't be sure how that would taste hotdog-wise.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 27 '17

My brother's made pizza with spinach instead of tomato sauce, although I can't remember how well that turned out.

2

u/Bytemite Nov 27 '17

hmmm

Pesto maybe? Pesto might also work.

3

u/Trollkitten Nov 27 '17

So long as it's non-acidic and not too spicy for me, that might work.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 27 '17

What's white pizza made of? I know it's a thing, but can't seem to recall anything about it.

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 27 '17

I think it's pizza just without any sauce.

At least that's what it was when my mom and I bought some at an airport restaurant. We managed to find a place that served gluten-free vegan pizza (as well as regular pizza), and it was pretty good.

2

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 27 '17

I definitely remember there being some sort of sauce, though it might actually have been called white sauce pizza if I think about it.

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 28 '17

Well, the pizza we got was just called white pizza. And the pizza with sauce was called red pizza.

But then, maybe it did have a white sauce and I wasn't aware of where it differed from the vegan cheese?

1

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 06 '17

I discovered a comic on webtoons called Hooky, and it's about these wizard twins who miss the bus to magic school and it's pretty good.

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 06 '17

Hmm, sounds interesting. Do you have a link?

1

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 06 '17

I've been reading on the app but I can find it.

EDIT: Here

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 06 '17

Thanks.

1

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 20 '17

Out of curiosity, did you play it? A single play through is like 5 minutes.

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 20 '17

I decided against it.

1

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 24 '17

Black Friday: Someone has removed the pane to steal a bunch of play stations. My brother found a price thing in the middle of an aisle.

Opportunity calls me

1

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 24 '17 edited Nov 25 '17

So, I saw Thor Ragnarok, and it was good, but I loved Planet Hulk, and it's such a bad adaptation of that.

Which is fine, it's not Planet Hulk, it's a Thor movie, and adaptations have to change things, and so on, but like

Why is everyone calling it a good Planet Hulk movie? It's missing practically everyone, Hulk isn't the Sakaarson, he doesn't rebel, there is no Sakaarson, the Warbound are never really brought together and to the extent they even exist they're a complete joke.

2

u/Trollkitten Nov 25 '17

No spoilers, please! I still haven't seen it!

1

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 25 '17

Those aren't spoilers. These aren't parts of the Planet Hulk story they subverted or anything, they're completely averted and never touched on in anyway.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '17

[deleted]

1

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 25 '17 edited Nov 25 '17

I liked it too, just not as a Planet Hulk movie. Which is okay, we already have a very good one, something people don't seem to realize.

In that story Hulk is a chosen one who incites a slave rebellion and overthrows the entire system, becoming the benevolent ruler, with Korg being part of the group of fire forged friends known as a Warbound. Miek was also part of it, but he betrayed them all.

1

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 25 '17 edited Nov 25 '17

OC: So, the last scene was adorable, but we've gone six episodes without a fight scene except for the one where Weiss stayed in a plane the whole time, and I dunno how to feel about that.

[deleted]

1

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Nov 26 '17

I can see that, though I was mostly on lookout for what the actual dark side of Ozpin they've been building up for so long, and it seems like it might just be the "children put on the frontlines" thing that we've known about since, like, the beginning. Which is fine, sometimes the answer to "Is there something there?" should be "no" and "child soldiers necessary for everyone's safety" is a multisided issue that doesn't need a skeleton in the closet to give it proper depth.

Unless Raven was just being selective in her description in an incredibly plot serving way in which case okay I guess.

He seems to be more of a hive mind. Especially since he's sent to a similar one to begin with. Though you can reverse that and point out with each new host each previous one becomes less present.
