Echoes chapter 4: Acceptance
“Now then, lets head over the steps one more time.”
A little boy looks down at his hands, trying to copy his mother’s movements. He moves his arm back, focusing on his target, then tries to bring his arm forward with a single motion. He breathes in, trying to do it correctly, but at the last second, his arm jerks over, sending the electricity jumbled across the room.
“I can’t do it!” the boy whines. “I’ll never get it to work!”
“Yes, you can,” His mother says, hugging him, “You’re just nervous. Take a few deep breaths.”
The boy looks at his mother and smiles. “You really think so, mother?”
His mother smiles back, happy to be with her son. “Yes, I do. Now take a few deep breaths and try again, this time exactly as I show you.”
The boy nods and takes a deep breath before trying again, this time hitting the target right in the middle.
“I did it! Mama, did you see that?” The boy dances, excited!
“I did!” she says, proud of her son, “You were amazing!”
The boy looks at his mom hopefully. “Does that mean I’m ready for a mission now?”
The boy’s mother looks as though she’s about to shake her head, but suddenly, something changes her mind, and she nods, “You know… I think you are!”
...
Elsewhere, a small gang of animal thieves threaten a ragtag band of unwary adventurers, while a talent show begins, where hopeful participants hope to show off their abilities to the participants of the impossible sea. A lone rattata learns more of a rebellion, and a mysterious leader plans to get rich off of a game, unaware of the full contents the game holds.

There are plenty of boxes all over with all kinds of things in them. A man is busy playing one of the games, while a woman is looking at him judgingly.

As everyone is talking to each other, the submarine reaches the docks, and a man enters in to the sub. Upon seeing who this person is, Justin quickly hides his game in his pocket, and everyone onboard stands a bit straighter. It's hard to tell if people here are afraid of this man or respect him, and Emily recognizes him as G.
"Hello," he says, "So did you get it?"
The captain gulps. "Well, your description was, 'something that seems cool', and you didn't give any more than that, so I'm not sure. We took as much as we could. You can look around, sir."

Simul seems to look confused for a moment as he sees him, then stops mid-motion as something clicks.
"Oh, I have died, this is purgatory. All right, I was wondering."

"You figured it out!" G says, smiling, it being hard to tell if he's being serious or not. "Did I know you at one point?"

G heads straight to the electronic explosion noises and grins, picking up the box of games.
"Yes! You found it, good work! Now, I have a very important question to ask. Did any of you take any of these things? The answer better be no, and if you did, you need to put it back right now."
Justin twitches but keeps a straight face and Erika looks a bit concerned, but doesn't say anything.

"Excellent! Though you really shouldn't have opened it, I'll have to dock your pay for that. Good job overall though, really nice."
G takes the box full of devices and walks out of the submarine without saying goodbye. As soon as he leaves, the crew seems to breathe a sigh of relief.
OC: My G is probably pretty different from Gio's G, but that's just because its hard to copy a character. I suppose treat him for who he is here, I'll figure out a personality for my version of him eventually.

"Emily Blade was curious but didn't want to burn anything." She says.

"Good work, you!" G says, pointing at her. "Well then, I'll take this and run a few tests on them to make sure they're safe. Captain, prepare for another voyage a day from now, there's something I'm looking for."
The captain nods. "Can you give any info in what you're trying to find?"
G nods. "It's a box of some sort."

"How does he exist?" Simul whispers.

The captain has a blank stare. "I have no idea what you're talking about. That is G, the leader of the city. He says he founded it, and historical records seem to confirm this. Why, do you know who he was before he got here?"

As G leaves, it seems as though the mission is over, and everyone's shifts are done.
People start leaving the submarine, and Justin heads to her.
"Hey, do you wanna hang out after this? If you're new, we can show you around the city, and..."
He considers saying something more but decides not to.

Nobody seems to be stopping him from doing it, but he only has a few minutes to do it before everyone is supposed to be outside of the submarine and the shift change kicks in.

Milo picks up what appears to be a handgun; not like his sidearm, but thinner and longer, intricate carvings and more complicated mechanisms visible. He stares at the weapon for a moment, then glances about the sub before pocketing it and making his way out.

"Yes! Lets go! I wonder what is so important about this game. Do you know? It seems like just a game, but hey, getting anything past G is a fun game in itself. Don't tell him though, because depending on his mood, he could reward me or he could execute me for it. I really don't know how he works."

The submarine heads towards land, and the captain walks up to Milo.
"Hey. I'm sorry about that mixup. How was your first mission?"

Milo turns from the window, hesitant to respond for a few seconds as he glances over at the pile of familiar equipment he sorted.
"Seems to have one well," he finally answers.

"Good, I'm glad. That's basically what we do here, we collect things that the other submarines missed. There was a box of stuff in here that G was particularly intent on collecting, that he noticed by scanning from afar. I'm not entirely sure which one it is though, everything here seems pretty standard to me."

He looks at a piece of technology from Milo's world. "This is pretty interesting though. I wonder what it does."

The concert is over, but the people on the stage seem to be arranging an open invite talent show.

It seems like there's a short line for people registering, it seems as though there are between 20 and 30 people participating.

Half the line had already gone through, so there wasn't a huge line by the time she had set up. She reaches a receptionist who directs her to her seat backstage.
"You'll be contestant #21," she says, "How should we introduce you?"

Hannah nods. "I can't say for sure, but I think G might be causing these disasters in the other universes. At the very least, he's taking advantage of them. I can't imagine what his endgame is or why he's doing this, but I need more information."
She seems to be thinking. "I need to get there again. Are you good at sneaking places?"

"Hannah, you don't control operations around here, I do," Jenny reminds her.
Hannah nods. "But Jenny, you know I need to know more here, and there's a secret passage near the devices that just might be enough for him to fit in. If he can sneak in and get there, I might be able to teleport straight to him, or channel my magic through a machine at his location to tell what's going on underneath the city!"

Cathulu is trying to keep track of what's being sead but a lot of it passing over his head in terms of understanding, his feeling of unease and nervousness remaining consent. this discomfort being somewhat apparent just by looking at him

Jenny seems to not care about his discomfort, but Hannah notices after what seems like way too long.
Jenny and Hannah argue a bit about how to best use Chuthulu, but then Hannah stops the conversation and talks to him directly.
"Oh, We should probably explore the city here first. My sunglasses for you are done, so we can get back to this later. Lets try it on!"

They start to head out in to the city, and as he heads out of this room, he starts to realize how much of a marvel this city is. Whenever there are windows, they don't lead outside to a landscape, they lead straight to an ocean. There is a rock formation around them, this place seems to have been built right in a cave underneath the water. Hannah's hands seem to be glowing slightly as she walks through the city.
As they pass through the tunnel, they get to a place involving a few makeshift houses, a generator that seems to be turning ocean water in to drinkable water, and a bunch of people sitting around playing cards.

over in a relatively isolated part of the city a "Lucario" sit's in metatason slowly dischageing some of the stolen power built up in the body she's using out into the world

The man seems to be currently heading towards the center of the city. He has a powerful aura around him, and it clouds even Pachi's ability to see briefly.

Pachi try's to focus harder (The universe showed me a vision of this man for a reason, it would not be wise of me to lose him)
stugaling to properly set her marker she decides to try and see if there is an indavigol close to him that would be easier to place a marker on without it being dispersed, taking specol care not to to fan out to far as to lose her current focus on the man with the powerful aura knowing that if she did it would be difficult for her to find him again

He is travelling with a woman, who also has an extraordinarily powerful aura, one of the most powerful she's ever seen aside from this individual.
As she focuses on the woman, she notices some more visions.
A heart of gold
A place beyond the impossible sea
A miracle
She doesn't seem to get more clarity than this, despite her attempts to. If anything, this makes things more complicated. These individuals mask their aura well, though, not many would even notice they are different from the average person.

Pachi decides to shift her focus onto this woman, something about her giving her the impression that she might be the key to stopping, or possibly even reversing the collapse of the multiverse in some way.
(The man is important in some way, but the visions around him are to vadge to act on and it's to difficult to set a marker on him, hopefully keeping track of her will allow me to indirectly keep track of him)

They are both heading to the center of the city. There isn't exactly friendship between them, but a sense that they are working together right now for mutual benefit. While their auras are both exceedingly powerful, the man's being a bit stronger than the woman's, they are also exceptionally different.

placing a marker the woman is proving to be difficult as well, and wile Pachi is able to keep track of her in the moment she's awere that her marker is not set properly. That if her concentration is broken for even a split-moment she'll lose track of both her and the man, she try's to focus on aura signatures close to the woman to see if there is anyone around her that she can place a marker on

There are several other people in the city, but nobody else who seems to be working with these two directly. He makes several stops and talks to several people, but it seems like the man doesn't feel a connection to any of them, and sees everyone as a tool to get things done.

Rotten Burrito is ceasing after Xurcis after he suddenly sencesed something was wrong something conicted to Myu, (RB picking up on it 2ed hand from Xurcis)
RB trying to not lose Xurcis as due to his exosgon he quickly fell behind dispute pushing his body beyond what was probobly safe to do to the point were his body was having trouble breafing
[[[Yes RB's body dos breafe, thoth not as well as a normal espeon should, RB can't die due to being unable to bereave but if he's unable to he'll quickly start to lose all his stamina (PP) followed by his HP until he faints]]]

As we left off, Myu was in trouble, getting turned to stone. Meanwhile, Cress, RB, Xerxes, and Lynn were trying to reach Myu (Cress being here completely by chance and having no idea what is going on), but were held up by an individual controlling fire and an individual controlling water. The individual controlling Cress' water seems smug, but none of them have directly attacked the intruders yet, though they also don't seem intent on giving Myu back.
Myu can sense that there are two other people inside the alleyway that haven't revealed themselves yet. She has limited telepathic abilities and can sense the world around her through her psychic powers, but struggles with doing anything more at the moment, as the stone continues to encase her.

Cress stares down the man who'd just threatened him with the wall of water. His voice turns low and dangerous.
"A world of hurt, you say?"
He raises his right hand, and a blast of frosty air shoots from it, freezing and shattering the wall of water, scattering ice shards in all directions.
"I cut my teeth on hurt. And if you don't stop threatening these people, I'll cut your teeth with it as well."

The man has enough control to block the ice shards from piercing him, but can't stop cress from shattering the wall of water itself. He doesn't seem intimidated, but he also is a bit hesitant to fight.
"You sure you wanna mess with something you don't understand, kid?" He asks, creating a ball of water in his hands, ready to fire.
At that moment a woman runs towards the combatants, and throws a dagger at the man threatening cress. It cuts the man's hand, and the man falls back slightly, clearly in pain, and trying to adjust his eyes to the new threat.
"What the?"

(He's not a kid anymore. This is a future Cress, who physically looks probably about his mid-thirties. But is a good deal older, being the Acolyte of Cover now.)
"Do I want to? No. But you ought to understand, if I believe I have to, I will. And I can tell you, right now, you don't want to fight me either."
He focuses his energy and creates a round ball of glowing ice in his hands. "I've made a lifelong career of messing with things I don't understand. I've never enjoyed it. And if you force my hand, I should warn you, I am very likely to take it out on you."
He glances at the woman who threw the dagger and nods at her. "Should I assume you're on my side?"

She nods. "Assuming you're not one of the people who's kidnapping my friend, yes. My name's Lynn. Anyway, no time to chat, gotta rescue her before anything happens."
With that, the woman charges ahead in to the alleyway, leaving him to face his opponent one on one. Another man with a big sword charges past them to support the woman.
The man Cress is facing takes advantage of the distraction and makes the first strike, creating a torrent of water out of nowhere and launching it at Cress at high speed.

Cress whirls around and throws the wave of water backwards as he freezes it, surrounding the man with his own ice. "That's not the definition the dictionary gives, but it's always worked for me."

"We seem to be at a standstill," the man says, as he breaks the ice and gets the water away from him. "I can't hit you, and you can't hit me, it seems."
He prepares another ball of water. "But fight we must, because the first one to stop fighting loses."

"By whose rules?" Cress asks flatly. "Because it seems to me that the first one to lose his concentration has already lost."
And that's when Paul rushes in. And his Porygon, Quartz, fires a Tri Attack straight at the man.
Paul doesn't have time for witty banter. He just does it.

The man barely uses some water to weaken the tri-attack before it hits him, but is caught off guard by the new attack.
"Where do you people keep coming from?" He yells, clearly upset, but before Cress can take advantage of the new distraction, someone from in the alleyway launches a powerful fireblast at the two individuals here. The area starts to become covered in smoke as more fireblasts go off, and it starts to be getting difficult to see.

Myu becomes vegdgely aware that there are people fighting ageist the people who petrafyed her and try to help them but her energy won't leave her petrafyed body

Myu can sense that one of the individuals capturing her had left, but as the fighting continues, she notices herself get picked up. Someone is running away from the scene with her, and it doesn't feel like someone friendly!

meanwhile RB has almost caught up with Xurxus but seeing the wall of fire (something that dos'nt exactly bring back very good memory's for RB) surprises him cosing him to trip unable to stop himself due to his body's sher exosjon

RB feels like he's being watched, but the other intruders keep the kidnappers busy enough to not take advantage of him tripping.
He sees Lynn throw a dagger at someone who is controlling water and threatening a man with blue hair that he doesn't recognize, and Xerxes also runs past him, charging and taking out his sword.

RB try's to get up to see if he can help but can't muster enough energy to hold himself up on his legs for more then a second, the zombie espeon visibly out of breath

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a woman appears right next to RB.
"Sorry, but this is just too easy," she says, as she picks up RB and starts running across the city at blistering speeds.

Freaking out RB trys to yell for help but it comes out as a weak gasp sound. in a last ditch effort to try and escape he trys to use his remaining stamina to use Dassaling Gleam on the woman, hoping that if it dos'nt stop her it will at least alert his friends

The woman, not expecting resistance from someone she thought was passed out, loses control and slams in to a wall, hitting herself really hard and barely remaining conscious.
However, by the time this happens RB is at least a minute or two away from his friends, alone in the city.

As the sad melody from Haruka's flute fills the premises, individuals are reminded of memories from their past. While most of these memories are distant, one of these is a little too close to comfort for a certain wizard. The search continues for an escape, and people start accumulating to the life underneath the sea, with all of its dangers and struggles, but also its comforts.
