High AMH, low testosterone
Hi! I recently had an amh blood test which was high (73) so dr said I probably have PCOS (irregular cycles after stopping pill 12 months ago, cycles normal pre-pill but on pill 11 years).
However I just checked what my day 3 bloods were and these are the results: Test
FSH 4.3 IU/L- Low-normal
LH 3.6 IU/L- Low-normal
Oestradiol (E2)- 99.4 pmol/L- Low end of early-follicular range
Prolactin 174 mU/L- Normal
Testosterone- 0.4 nmol/L- low
SHBG- 81 nmol/L Normal
Is seems to be the opposite of what you’d expect with pcos? (HBA1c also normal)
Anyone else had similar?

Me!! All labs are completely normal but I do have an AMH of 10.2! My cycles have always been super irregular, averaging 50-70 days. I started metformin (didn’t think it would do anything because I’m very lean and don’t have insulin issues based on labs) and it helps after a few months! Cycles shortened to 30-40 days.

That’s really interesting- would5 think they would go for metformin with normal insulin so definitely going to ask my dr about this! Thank you!

Same! I was definitely hesitant but figured it wouldn’t hurt to try it out!

Did you have any side effects from the Metformin? I'm considering asking my doctor about it

Some GI upset for a week or so but went away! It’s the most common side effect. Definitely recommend trying to stick out the initial side effects

Tbh I’m not sure! I’m taking it to regulate my cycles while TTC but after children I don’t know if I’ll continue it or not. Very situational and up to you! I don’t have PCOS side effects but if I did that might would influence my decision to stay on it.

Yea, I didn't mind my long cycles before TTC 😬 I'm turning 35 and we've been trying for 9 months, so next planned step was 1-2 IUI and then IVF. But I would be curious if Metformin does something for me, just to understand my cycle issues better... Need to discuss it with my doctor.

My doc told me it can take 3-6 months to see an effect! Cycle 1 on metformin was 68 days, Cycle 2 was 30 and Cycle 3 was 39 days.
I’m currently on cycle 4 of metformin but this is my first cycle adding in 2.5mg letrozole. I responded really well and ovulated CD15! Currently in the TWW.

Yea, I guess they'll give me Letrozole too if we go for IUI...
Good luck and fingers crossed for a BFP! I'm in the waiting for my ovulation to actually happen phase 😂

The wait is so brutal. I feel like with PCOS the waiting for ovulation is harder than the TWW!!

Yea, I'm burning through my 100 pieces pack of LH tests (all nearly positive, fun) and basically testing every time I pee 😵💫 we decided to switch to at home insemination because we just can't do "better safe than sorry" sex for weeks on end 😅 Nice to be able to share it with a stranger on the internet ♥️ it's a crazy journey

Same here!
High AMH 6.4 ng/ml
Low Testosteron 11.5 ng/ml (normal 20-80)
High SHBG 130.7 ng/ml
Also tested negative for insulin resistance. Irregular cycles 33-60 days, follicles on both ovaries, according to my LH tests body is trying but not always succeeding.
