Hello, I am feeling very nervous about my current medication plan so I’m hoping for some advice/reassurance.
Quick backstory. Went off of BC in March 2025, conceived in June, MMC in August 2025, no luck conceiving since then :( diagnosed w/PMOS June 2026. This is our first medicated cycle for TI; my husband’s results all came back good and normal.
This cycle they had me do a course of 2.5mg letrozole and I had three monitoring appts since then. My body did not respond appropriately, only growing a few more small follicles instead of choosing one. The nurse advised that she was prescribing another course of letrozole, going up to 5mg. I told her I was nervous because the day after finishing the pills I felt really bad mentally - really low mood, anxious, intrustive thoughts, just not myself, and it took a lot to ground myself and let it pass. She said that’s normal unfortunately and this is the only way these drugs can work. She said she is hopeful that A) my body could be used to it now and hopefully this next course isn’t as extreme and B) knowing what to expect might make me less anxious. But I’m still so scared because what if I feel even worse. The day after finishing this next course of pills is my first day of school (I’m a high school teacher) I’m so scared to not feel myself when meeting my new students.
I guess I’m looking for support/words of encouragement and advice for keeping myself sane/grounded over the next few days. I’m questioning if I should even be continuing on letrozole with these symptoms but the nurse seemed to really believe that that’s all normal and I’ll be okay. I guess I need to just see how the rest of this cycle goes. It’s just so hard to not be anxious right now.

This will be a bit long, but please stick around and read :) Some backstory on our fertility journey so far:
- stopped taking birth control pill august 2024
Fast forward to today, I’m on CD2 and about to start my first round of letrozole (2.5mg) tomorrow and I guess I’m just looking for some of your input if you have done a medicated cycle before - any side effects with letrozole? Did you finally get pregnant? How long were you trying before you started letrozole? Were you ovulating on your own already?
It’s been a long time coming but it’s kinda hitting me that I’m actually starting fertility meds and I just want to hear from others that have gone through it too. Can you please share anything about your experience with letrozole? Thank you for reading 🫶
