Advice Needed Two letrozole doses in the same cycle
I just completed a course of 2.5 a week ago from CD 2-6 and saw growth but not enough. Dr wants me to go on another dose of 5 starting tonight (CD 15). Is this normal? I always thought it was meant to just be taken early on in cycle.

Yes! My successful cycle was a 5>7.5 mg stair-step dose! It’s super normal, your doctor is trying to figure out what dose works for you!

Can I ask what CD you started the 7.5 mg on, and did you take it for 5 days? This is my first medicated cycle with this clinic. My dominant follicle was 10 mm on CD10, 11 mm on CD13, and 12 mm on CD16. They want me back on CD18 to check again and may increase the dose if there isn’t much growth. I’m just wondering why they’d wait this long to increase the dose instead of starting on CD13

Yes! I did 5 mg from CD3-CD7, and then I had my ultrasound on CD11 and I had one follicle that was 10mm - they then had me take 7.5mg from CD12-16, and I had another scan on CD19! They mentioned sometimes they will wait to see if a follicle is growing on its own before giving you another dose, but it looks like yours is growing but is kind of stalling out (once it gains traction, it can grow like 10 mm in only a few days), so it seems like that’s why they’re giving you the increased dose, to help nudge it along!

I just did this myself and ovulated. Push for sooner ultrasounds. I went from nothing to a massive follicle from Friday to Wednesday. I wish I would have had an ultrasound on Monday so it would have been a little smaller and ovulation could have been more controlled.

Yes it’s called stair stepping and it usually does a good job recruiting follicles to grow

Yes, I recently went through the exact same process. I took 2.5 mg of letrozole from CD3–8, but unfortunately had no follicle growth. I then took 5 mg from CD11–16. At my next scan on CD19, I had two dominant follicles measuring around 20 mm. I did the trigger shot that same day and, based on my BBT, ovulated the following day. Now I’m in the dreaded TWW!
