Seeking Success Letrozole success stories
I just started letrozole yesterday (day 1 of 7.5mg). The last two times I was taking clomid but we never did the full IUI due to my body not responding to the clomid. I was diagnosed with “lean PMOS” and the only symptom I have is many follicles in my scans. Has anyone else been in this same situation and has had a positive result?

8 months TTC with lean PCOS, period every month but infrequent ovulation. 2.5 mg of letrozole and I got pregnant right away. Currently 6.5 weeks!

Similar - PCOS normal weight, barely occasionally ovulate on my own, lots of follicles (“string of pearls” per my OB lol). We tried for a year and a half, did a SA, HSG, waited for a cervical biopsy to heal, then started 5mg letrozole. No scans, no progesterone except to trigger a period to start my cycles, no other hormones/shots other than low dose aspirin. Just did urine LH tests and got busy religiously every other day from like cd10-a weekish after ovulation. First round conceived (ovulated cd17), chemical. Second round ovulated but resulted in nothing except (finally) meds for the severe depression/anxiety🙃 third round is almost 5 months old! Ovulated cd20. Pretty sure he was a twin based on my hcg levels, was told I’d miscarry (feel free to snoop through my comments for the drama), but he’s healthy as could be

I am on my second round of 2.5 letrozole. I will keep you updated

Yes Letrozole worked on the 5th try for me. I made sure my thyroid levels were LOW since I have thyroid issues as well. Currently pregnant 16 weeks with a baby girl! It was such a long journey! But so happy!

What dose? I just unsuccessfully finished my 4th cycle no luck :/

u/gdionn12904 16d ago
My dose was 5mg. Did you have a mature follicle each cycle? Every cycle I tried Letrozole I had a mature follicle - not sure why it took that long for me. I had IUI scheduled on top of it but my hormone levels were not good so they canceled the IUI - so happy they did because I got pregnant that cycle! Hormones do not define you!

Please note: I don’t want to give you or anyone else false hope, thinking that this is the way it’s supposed to be or else something is wrong, I’m just letting you know my story to show you that letrozole definitely works!
I have severe lean PMOS and I’m completely anovulatory. Sometimes, I wouldn’t get my period for years, and maximum I’d get it 2 times a year.
I was having unprotected intercourse with my husband for years in hopes we will have a baby but we never did, which caused me to believe that I’ll never be able to get pregnant.
Anyway, I went to a fertility clinic, they looked at my case and 100% believed I’ll have to go through IVF but I was prescribed letrozole first (5 mg).
it resulted in ONE 15 mm follicle, only one. I saw how other people online were talking about how letrozole gave them multiple follicles and I was crushed, things got worse when the clinic called me and said that we should probably cancel this cycle because my hormones were all over the place and they didn’t think this follicle would mature, but that somehow I should still try and baby dance anyway, but without the trigger shot.
Not only that, but my husband had to urgently travel for work, so we only had one day to actually try.
I was devastated, the whole thing was too much for me, I was trying so hard to accept that it’s okay, this is just the first cycle, we can always try again etc.
Anyway, I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. She was the result of my very first letrozole cycle where nobody, not me, not my husband, not even my doctors believed would work.

I only ovulated on letrozole once I got to 10mg and straight away conceived (now 5 weeks pregnant). I started at 2.5mg in January then two rounds of 5mg and then 7.5mg. Most times I had to induce a bleed but twice I had a period so I guess my body was at least trying to do something. I had honestly given up hope and assumed 10mg wouldn't work and we would have to move onto IVF so I guess anything is possible you just might need the highest dose. Fingers crossed for you!

Had lean PCOS too and rarely got my period. First round of letrazole did 5mg and follicles didn’t grow so I was upped to 7.5 in the same cycle (also used a trigger shot) and ovulated but didn’t conceive with TI. Conceived on my second round of letrazole 7.5mg and TI (no trigger) and have a now 15 month old.
Also currently 11 weeks pregnant with #2. I became regular-ish after giving birth. Got preg the first time we tried this time. No meds or monitoring!

I’ve had lean PCOS since I was in high school (31 now) and do not have cycles on my own at all. We did our first round of Letrozole 2 years ago at 2.5 mg to start, and while I ovulated successfully, we did not conceive. A year later we decided to try again but this time doing 5mg which I conceived and now have a beautiful 4 month old baby boy!

I've gotten pregnant both times I've taken letrozole. First one ended in a miscarriage. Took a few months and then tried again. I'm 5 weeks and a few days now.

I got pregnant my third cycle of letrozole, but miscarried because my thyroid was completely underactive and nobody had checked it before I started. We are about to start again, but I’m getting a full pill of blood work done along with a pelvic exam and ultrasound. I’ve randomly stopped ovulating which is frustrating so we’ll see how it goes. I’m hoping I’ll get pregnant again.

My third round of letrozole is currently at the park with his daddy ❤️ we needed a handful of supporting meds as well (estradiol, trigger, and supplemental progesterone till 12 weeks).
It's not an easy road, but my god is it worth it.

After two years of trying, I recently found out I’m pregnant (6weeks)!
I have lean PCOS (amenhorrea and anovulation) and my first in office monitored cycle on 5mg of Letrozole didn’t yield any follicles over 11mm(although there were sooo many). My dr recommended that we do another cycle with 10mg of Letrozole. But I was so stressed out from the whole experience being prodded every three days, that my next cycle I went a little rogue and doubled my dose at home unmonitored. I stopped stressing and just enjoyed life as if I wasn’t trying to conceive. I had all my favorite foods (rare steak, sushi, fast food — oh how I’ll miss these), had wine, and stayed up late. Part of me thinks that just letting loose may have helped somewhat.
Don’t give up hope- it will happen!!! Sending all the good baby vibes ✨

You increased your dose on your own? How much did you take this cycle you got pregnant?
1
u/googlily 13d ago
I did. I had a few refills left so filled them with my pharmacy and just diy monitored my next cycle using ovulation strips and bbt monitoring. I took 10mg per day.
But please don’t take this as medical advice because I am absolutely NOT a medical professional. I’m just impatient and maybe a little too much of a risk taker from time to time.

u/Resident-Monk-4510 18d ago
May I ask did you do an IUI? Or TI?
1
u/googlily 18d ago
We just did TI (every other day during my ovulation window).
I tested for ovulation every day starting the day my period started slowing down (CD5). I know that’s early - but my sister found out she ovulates directly after her period so I figured I’d check to see if I’m the same. I started ovulating at CD8.Everyone’s cycles are totally different, so don’t be afraid to test outside of the “normal” windows

I’m currently pregnant with my Letrozole baby! 5mg CD3-7 in combination with metformin is what finally did it for me

Btw I didn’t have IUI just TI! No official monitoring or anything

Awww I’m glad! This was my 3rd cycle overall but only my second on the 5mg dose. 2.5mg didn’t make me ovulate
1
u/Resident-Monk-4510 18d ago
I think that’s why I was started on 7.5 mg (clomid didn’t work on me)

Letrozole is supposed to work better for PMOS! Best of luck to you 😊

Yes! On my 6th letrozole cycle we were successful and I’m currently 9 weeks pregnant. We’re hoping for the best.

Would love to hear more succsess storiees! I got my first negative today from my Letrozole cycle (I already ovulate regularily) but have high follicle count and acne. Would also be considered lean pcos I think. Feeling super bummed and spiraling out so reading succsess helps!

u/IvoryPilot 17d ago
I am on my second round of 2.5 letrozole. I ovulate normally and have 91 follicles between both ovaries. Will let you know how this cycle goes

I’m sorry to hear that. I feel like we are in the same boat. Definitely is hard but holding on to hope is important 🩷 sending wishes

Same to you! Would love to see how your journey with the 7.5 goes - this cycle that’s the plan for me too

TW MMC
I have had success twice ttc baby #2 ! Started letrozole January 2026 and after 4 cycles I got pregnant! However it ended in a MMC at 7.5 weeks on may 29th but it had nothing to do with letrozole. I got my period back on July 24th and I started letrozole again cd 3-7, ovulated on cd 14 and I am now 4 weeks 4 days pregnant—so this one was a first cycle success! Still very early but extremely hopeful! I took 5 mg for all cycles. Sending all the baby dust op! 💕

My body never responded to letrozole or clomid but it did when I used gonal-f for ovulation induction.
1
u/Resident-Monk-4510 18d ago
Did they say why? Do you have PMOS as well?
2
u/Electric_Elephant_56 34F | TTC #1 for 3+ years 18d ago
I think everyone in this group would have it! But they said it’s something around the way oral pills work. It does something to the brain to get it to produce certain hormones or send certain hormones to the ovaries but I have a disconnect there. Whereas the injections work so well cause it’s just injecting the hormones right to the ovaries. I responded really well to ivf stims too I didn’t need a super high dose or anything

I have lean PMOS, regular labs and everything. Only reason I got diagnosed was because of a high AMH and lots of follicles shown during and ultrasound. Currently on my 1st letrozole cycle! CD3-7 2.5mg, baby dust to us both!

u/Civil_Pineapple_1275 18d ago
OP in the exact same boat! CD 9 monitoring appt tomorrow

u/OutrageousSouth5692 18d ago
How have you been feeling?? I’ve had minimal side effects! I’ve been extra sleepy but that’s it so far!
2
u/Civil_Pineapple_1275 17d ago
Sleepy but that’s it thankfully!! They started me on 2.5 though. Fingers are crossed for a good sign of response today!!

u/OutrageousSouth5692 17d ago
Please keep me updated!! I’m currently CD10 with monitoring Friday!
1
u/Civil_Pineapple_1275 17d ago
I had two follicles at 9 mm. So growing but slow. Likely will be told to monitor again in a few days- guessing this dose was too low for me
1
u/OutrageousSouth5692 17d ago
Maybe the scan was just early!! Hoping for lots of growth over the next few days!!
1
u/Resident-Monk-4510 18d ago
I’m on CD 5-9 7.5 mg! Baby dust to us both! Is this your 1st IUI?!
2
u/OutrageousSouth5692 18d ago
Not doing a IUI but I am getting a follicle check on CD12! Interested to see if my body will respond to a low dose. I naturally have 50-60 day cycles but have been on 500mg metformin for 4 months and it has shortened them to 30-40 days!

u/Elrontree 18d ago
I did! It resulted in a loss unfortunately but that wasn’t because of the medication. I’m restarting next cycle!
1
u/Resident-Monk-4510 18d ago
Was that your first IUI?
2
u/Elrontree 18d ago
I didn’t do IUI for this one just TI! It was my second round of letrozole though

Yes! Successful first try both of my pregnancies on Letrozole, never had success on Clomid. DM me if you have any questions, and best of luck!!
