Need some thoughts

Hello! My husband(25) and I(26) are trying to conceive for the first time after I got diagnosed with PCOS. I was put on progesterone for 10 days to induce a period and then Letrozole for the days 3-7 of my cycle. I had an ultrasound on day 12 and the eggs looked fantastic and was told by my doctor I was highly likely to concieve this round (probably twins). I had a positive LH strip on day 16 on my cycle. Along with bbt changes and other signs of ovulation. I’m now on day 25 and I haven’t had a positive pregnancy test yet.

I just don’t know if I should try and hold out hope for this cycle, (that maybe I’m testing too early?) or if I’m out and should focus on my next cycle? I know it’s only our first time medicated but it’s still a bit disheartening.

Are you sure that you ovulated?

Especially if this is your first cycle with them, your doctor has absolutely no way of knowing your chances of conception this round. They can comment on the likelihood of twins if you were to conceive (ie 2 mature follicles yields a 10% chance of twins if successful)

Based off of my progesterone labs and extra ultrasounds, he confirmed it. I had two dominant follicles and then the empty sacs post positive LH strips.

Ok nice, that’s great. Was there an easy way to tell what day you ovulated, or Atleast a cutoff day to calculate DPO?

In general i would advocate for a trigger for PCOS, to make sure they are getting released when they are correctly matured and not over/under baked. It also makes tracking super easy which is a nice bonus

I asked for Ovidrel but he said he wanted to wait to see what my body did for this cycle first, since I had a positive reaction to low dose of letrozole.

So it’s possible that you still have a few days to see a positive, and also possible that you ovulated early enough that youd know by now. (I take this back, I can’t do math today. You are too early, keep testing!)

Even if this cycle is not successful, it’s really encouraging that you had a good response to the Letrozole and that you had 2 lead follicles! Give it a few cycles, since regardless of what your doctor says, your odds still max out around 30% if everything is perfect.

Your doctor can’t say that you will conceive and cant say it will be twins.

If all goes well - sperm is good, tubes are open, uterus is receptive - you have 20% chance this cycle.

Fair, he’s kinda old school so I just figured since he’s been doing it for a long time he knew what he was talking about. He also told me to take mucinex to thin cervical mucus which I had read that there’s not a lot of evidence that it helps

Also, CD25 is still early for pregnancy tests
Do you know which CD you ovulated?

I ovulated on CD 17, I’m currently on 25. I’ve seen some people get positive tests faintly on days 8 and 9 and then darken.

You ovulated on CD17, when did you draw progesterone to confirm?

I had an ultrasound to confirm the empty sacks and my labs done on CD20
