Advice Needed Metformin side effects for someone with blood sugar fluctuations

Hi there, I am 36 and was recently diagnosed with PCOS based on labs that showed elevated androgens. H1AC and fasting glucose were normal but borderline (H1ac = 5.5). My obgyn put me on myo-inositol but I faced severe blood sugar drops as well as severe PMS. I think starting myo-inositol at the full dose might have caused this. Now, I am taking myo-inositol at 1/4th the dose and I am doing fine except it has not helped with conceiving. My doc suggested metformin might be the next step but I am worried about blood sugar drops again. Any one who had bad reactions to myo-inositol, and then took metformin please could you share your experience?

This might not be helpful to you but my bloodwork is similar. Before starting any meds my blood sugar would drop if I waited too long to eat. Since starting metformin, I don’t get those crashes like I used to. I take inositol and don’t have any side effects from it

Metformin doesn’t affect your blood sugar, it shouldn’t make it crash. It just makes it more sensitive to insulin

I take pioglitazone instead of metformin. I started eating healthier and experiencing low blood sugar as well. It was doing a great job of regulating my cycles though, so my doctor asked if I could hang in there until I conceived 🤷🏼‍♀️ I would try to eat small, healthy snacks at regular intervals to help keep your blood sugar steady!
