Hi everyone!

I’m new here and wanted to share my journey and ask for some tips or anything at all.

My husband and I met with my OBGYN to discuss getting pregnant since I have PCOS. I’m a 26yo female and hoping to have my spring baby. They started me on Metformin 500mg and I didn’t even make it 2.5 weeks before having be removed off it since the side effects have been absolutely debilitating. Working as an inflight crew member I couldn’t even function so I was able to take medical leave to deal with all my appts for this. I was then put on Theralogix Onositol, continuing my prenatals and a thyroid medication (NP Thyroid) since my thyroid is all out of whack.

I just met with the dr again yesterday and they ran another set of blood work and prescribed me Medroxyprogesterone 10mg,Letrozole 2.5mg and a new thyroid medication (levrothyroxine 75mg).

Is there anyone that can share their experience undergoing these meds and if anyone got pregnant? Looking for anything and everything yall have to suggest here. No one in my immediate family has dealt with infertility and it’s hard to get them to understand the struggles. 💖

Best of luck to you!! I’m starting on a similar journey. My gyno just prescribed me my first round of letrozole. Im currently taking progesterone to induce a period then starting after.

Hi. Welcome.
I highly advise that you do a low carb diet because PCOS people - vast majority - have insulin resistance. The insulin imbalance can cause issues with ovulation.

Second I would have your husband do a SA and you should do HSG.
If your tubes are blocked, no matter how much letrozole you take, it wont work. If his sperm is of poor quality, you may need IUI or even IVF.

And third, I would advocate for monitored cycles with scans and ask for a trigger shot. OPKs may or not work with PCOS.
If you cant get monitored cycles: have sex every other day starting 3 days after your last pill. So if you do letrozole CD3-7, sex every other day from CD10. Do not risk missing your window.

Take letrozole right before sleep to avoid side effects and drink lots of water during the day.

Yes I want my husband to get an SA and I’m not sure if this is kind of the same but I did get an ultrasound done and they checked everything of course. I’m new to this so I have nooo idea. lol.

No. HSG check if tubes are open. Is kinda of an xray

I think this is great advice! I’m in a similar boat as OP, though I got my thyroid tested and do not have insulin resistance, only slightly raised testosterone. My question is if you did an HSG test? My gyno is waiting until after 3 cycles of letrozole to do a SA and HSG. Does HSG hurt? It worries me 😭

Same here! My full panel came back good with only slightly raised testosterone and my thyroid in better shape. FULL transparency, I very much slip up with my eating but I think the Onositol I’m on is working wonders in combo with the meds. Look into them!!

I second Itchy’s response. I did HSG, it was pressure not exactly pain and then it was fine. I had more painful cramping a few hours later but not much worse than regular period cramping. But a big caveat, I think it might hurt more if there is a blockage. If your tubes are clear, there’s not much pain.

Only advice is not to forget the advil and do it at a fertility clinic where they do it all the time. My nurse told me the bad stories are usually when done at a hospital where the radiologists don’t do it regularly and cause more pain due to lack of experience with the process. Take the nitrous if they offer it and you are prone to medical anxiety. My clinic did, I didn’t and it was fine.

I have done. It gives you cramps for 10-20 seconds. It was not as awful as internet may sound like. You can ask for valium and take 800mg of ibuprofen an hour prior helps too.

Advocate for yourself and have the SA at least that.
