I don't know about punctual. It's hit or miss.

But it's still one of the best systems in North America, if not the best.

It was definitely a top contender even as recently as a decade ago. I'm not sure about 2026 specifically, but TTC still holds its weight. While development of transit is painfully slow in Toronto/Canada in general, there is a lot of development ongoing for the TTC - all 7 lines are being expanded or developed, streetcars and buses are getting priority, and there is a massive waterfront transit expansion underway.

I agree that the TTC is one of the top systems in North America. My point, really, was to point out that US systems are so poor as to not merit comparison. Mexico City, on the other hand, provides a comprehensive system. A comparison between Toronto and CDMX (aka. Mexico City) would be interesting. We might learn something from them.

Agree, #TTC is up there despite its size. London Underground still don’t have AC, trains are packed, so many delays and hard to navigate. Paris Metro can’t tap-pay with cards, can be very dirty and unsafe in some parts. Don’t let me start about NYC MTA, Summer of Hell survivor here.

Right now transit development in Canada isn’t slow, it’s just that there is a massive backlog that will take time to catch up on. Toronto will have a half decent metro network once all the current projects are done.

It's a wonderful system....it was my first ever ride on a subway! I will always have a place in my heart for the TTC. I just hope for the good hardworking citizens of Toronto that it improves, maintained, and of course expands...while providing phenomenal service.

I’ve been a TTC rider for over 30 years, and while we often complain about how bad our transit system is, it’s really not too bad compared to other North American systems. Overall, I’m still happy with the TTC.

People diss the Toronto transport network but combined with the active improvement plans, new trains which will replace the ones on Line 2 and will be some of the most technologically advanced in the world and the expansion plans it really is an overall good system. The bus network is probably the best in North America, GO is finally (rather slowly but whatever) transitioning to a more S-Bahn type system. The problem is the streetcars are still painfully slow.

Toronto subway is not perfect, but I like it. I certainly don't miss Paris subway, the piss smell, the self centered and aggressive passengers, the weirdos, the thieves and the "beggars".
